That's pretty interesting, but as the article itself suggests - it won't be around long. There will be a court battle over that one and the law will most likely be nullified. The reason being in a gang itself cannot be considered "probable cause" is because this is America and people are free to express themselves in whatever manner they choose as long as they are not harming themselves or other people. A few years ago Georgians were up in arms because a local government allowed a white supremacist group to go marching down their main street waving their swastika flags and touting what many people consider to be hate personified. Their personal views and affiliations aside, they broke no laws and cannot be considered criminals just because they are members of an organization most consider to be wrong or illegal. On the one hand, I high five any state that attempts to put a lid on gang violence and criminal activities. On the other, I believe in my (and your) constitutional rights.  (Jun 4, 2013 | post #22)

dog murdered i

There are no leash laws outside the city limits. That being said, there are no laws PROTECTING dogs outside the city limits. Dogs wandering around the rural communities are not subject to the same protections as animals that are leashed or fenced in. People who run over pets in the street are not liable for it because there are no "dog crossing" laws in rural areas as much as rural dwelling people would like there to be.  (Jun 4, 2013 | post #87)

Mediastream

They actually have EVERY reason to complain as a) Mediastream bought out the contracts of all Charter customers without the knowledge or consent of Charter customers b) their service is crap and the so called "HD" channels barely function most of the time and forget about DVR'ing tv shows because every 6 out of 10 programs you record to watch later are going to be unwatchable halfway through. c) when they took over the company they tried to change hundreds of customers for things they didn't want or ask for and charged a lot of people for high speed internet they were not receiving d) people in this area do NOT have any other option except dish and as already stated above many of those people don't even have that particular option because they rent. How about instead of accusing people of "whining " with no cause, you actually think about whether or not they do have a legitimate reason to complain. In this case, their "whining " as you call it, is perfectly valid. Mediastream does indeed suck.  (Jun 4, 2013 | post #17)

I apparently posted the wrong link.. just went back to read this. I've been looking up gang laws not only in the US but in the UK and Canada as well. http://www.streetg angs.com/laws/stat esdefined.html ^ Thats the link I meant to post. The other is the UK posting I was reading. If I managed to post the right one this time, it will go by state. Have a good day :)  (Jun 4, 2013 | post #19)

sigh* There are NO laws in Georgia or anywhere else in the United States that states that it is illegal to BE IN A GANG. I have no idea where you got your information but it is, in fact, incorrect. There are laws with the intention of preventing gang like or hive like activities but as to laws abolishing or making gangs illegal... there are no such laws. You cannot make ANY ORGANIZATION illegal in the United States. That's the beauty and the curse about being part of the US. You're free to wave whatever freak flag you feel free to fly as long as you have the necessary permits to go waving it down main street. Gang like activities are illegal. Gangs themselves, are not. As you appear to be fond of "looking up" things. Try this government website. http://www.nidirec t.gov.uk/gangs-and -gang-crime-the-fa cts I would also be interested in seeing your research. Have a lovely afternoon.  (Jun 4, 2013 | post #18)

No. You cannot arrest anyone for anything without probable cause. Being in a gang isn't probable cause any more than being in a book club or knitting club is probable cause.  (Jun 4, 2013 | post #15)

It's the call sign of a street gang that originated in Mexico. My *guess* would be that there is a group of Latino teenagers in Douglas who think they're gang bangers.  (Jun 3, 2013 | post #2)

walmart pharmacy

Bless your idiot heart. L.E. are initials.. doesn't take a genious to figure that out, surely. Also doesn't take an Einstein to figure out that I used to work at CVS and my name is Lori, considering that it said LORI on my adorable little CUSTOMER SERVICE NAME TAG that I wore on the BLUE CVS issue work shirt. However, just so you can feel special and not feel like the idiot at the back of the class, let me catch you up with the what the rest of the people in Douglas and on this board already know - I don't work at CVS anymore. I have not worked at CVS in quiet a long time. There ya go. Now you can latch on to something else you see, hear or read somewhere to or about me and pretend you know anything about me other than my name is Lori and I used to work at CVS. That being said, hi my name is Lori, would you like to have coffee sometime? :)  (Jun 3, 2013 | post #15)

kids under 5 in restaurants

This isn't a "children under 5" problem. This is a parent problem. It is also the problem of a tolerant society. Look around you.. how many 'family' oriented places to eat cater to inappropriate and unattended children? Family eating establishments are often the objects of ridicule because they install gaming machines in the backs of their restaurants in an attempt to keep willful and unattended children occupied and away from and/or disturbing their other patrons. Small children are perfectly capable of sitting at a table with their family (in a high chair or otherwise) and having a meal in a public restaurant. Blame the parents for allowing their children to run around and disrupt other patrons. Blame the establishments for allowing this to go on.  (Jun 3, 2013 | post #111)

That right there, funniest thing I've read in ages. I especially like the part where you begin berating the "blak lady" and the "mexican " lady for having no customer service skills and go on to call another member of the pharmacy staff a "fat girl". I wonder at times whether it be by sheer accident that stupid people manage to wake themselves in the morning or if the smell stupid just wafts through their bedroom windows of a morning and gently ushers them awake. You're an idiot and you really should do something about it. Have a cup of humility, a side of self respect and a double order of common sense. It isn't a customer service persons job to take your abuse and be nice to you. It is a customer service persons job to take your abuse and be CIVIL to you. If you want people to be nice.. then try BEING nice. I've lived in this town for years and had many MANY prescriptions filled at Walmart pharmacy and never had a problem with any of the individuals who work there. They're always prompt and pleasant. I guess it is you. Bless your heart.  (Jun 2, 2013 | post #11)

Walmart

That's lovely. You have the soul of a saint. Just as an fyi for your own edification though, I'd like to inform you that Walmart parking lot is private lot. There are signs on each of the shopping cart corrals informing patrons to the store that the store is not responsible for damages causes to people or vehicles by carts. I you damage someones property, Walmart isn't liable, you are. Carry on.  (Jan 3, 2013 | post #45)
