1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee-Stalling problems!

Same issue as a lot of Jeep owners and no real answers. Going down the road...SPIT-SPUTTER-DEAD! Had the mechanics diagnose it and they replaced the ignition coil. That worked for almost a month but it got worse. Had the mechanics put in a new fuel pump, not the problem. had the diagnoses done again and it coded the ignition coil-AGAIN. Not the problem, even worse now! Have read several postings on 90's model Cherokees and seems to be a few solutions. Going to try the torx bolts on the pcm and hope that is the cure. If anyone has any suggestions, would love to hear it! Tired of feeding the money pit!!!  (Feb 25, 2008 | post #1)

1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee-Stalling problems!

I have read several different articles about Jeeps in other years and models having stalling issues and seem to be right in the middle with everyone else. Seems like this Jeep is becoming a money pit. Have had the vehicle coded twice now and replaced the ignition coil twice along with a fuel pump and still no fix. Have read about the torx bolts on the PCM and will try that tomorrow, but like all of you out there with this problem, mechanics are sucking us dry!!! HELP!!! Is there anyone with a real solution? It seems there should be some sort of recall if this is happening to a lot of Jeep ownwers. Bought this Jeep from a used car dealer and had to have the transmission replaced after only having it 3 weeks. Could it be possible that the crankshaft sensor wire got knicked or damaged and causing a short?  (Feb 25, 2008 | post #1)
