Hall of Fame Marathon

Also, witnessed a runner getting hit by a kid on a bicycle. No reason for the kid to be in the middle of the street on his bike (he actually aimed at the runner). The runner finally got untangled and pushed the kid away. Where were the police or others who should have been stationed along the route? This incident took place 20 feet or so from where they were giving out water. Some of the neighbors had to tell the kid to get on the sidewalk.  (Apr 27, 2014 | post #2)

Hall of Fame Marathon

EPIC FAIL for City of Canton and the HOF........at 12:50 pm I witnessed a lost runner heading down Tuscarawas......he was lost. WHY? Because all the baracades had been taken down along the route and all the support staff along the way had gone home. I hope the man was a local, otherwise he may NOT find his way back to his car!!!  (Apr 27, 2014 | post #1)

2002 Ford Escape

Three years ago took my 2002 Escape out to California from Ohio. Ran fine for 6 months then emission light came on. Catalytic converters(all 3 of them) were dust....no I mean it the insides had vaporized to dust! Replaced and drove it for a few months, cats go out again, replaced all 3 cats....as well as the ignition coils. Drove for another few weeks and again emissions light went on. So for the last 2 years it has sat in my father-in-laws driveway, I'm afraid to drive it. He had a few mechanics look at it and now they believe it's a transmission problem. I need it running again, as it is my only way to get around. Any suggestions (besides driving it off a cliff)?  (Jan 24, 2012 | post #389)

No on Measure A

You people who were worried about pollution and environmental impact...what do you think the impact from my driving through Mendocino County in my SUV (NOT a Hybrid, but a gas guzzler) or my BIG pick-up truck that gets about 10 miles to the gallon will be to get to Santa Rosa? Now multiply that by the number of people just from Fort Bragg who shop outside of Mendo County.........  (Nov 4, 2009 | post #9)

No on Measure A

By the way, when I was in Ohio a few months ago, the Target store in the Belden Park Crossings shopping area was expanding! The Kohl's store there had a great sale and packed in the shoppers. Actually ALL the stores were quite busy. Jo Ann Fabrics is one of my favorites, but at times too packed with PAYING customers for me to browse! See the website for it at: http://www.ddrc.co m/listings/default .aspx?pn=A20827 This from http://www.manta.c om/company/mtx5gvy : Belden Park Crossing is a private company categorized under Shopping Centers and Malls and located in North Canton, OH. Current estimates show this company has an annual revenue of $2.5 to 5 million and employs a staff of approximately 5 to 9. What could Mendocino County and the City of Ukiah done with the tax revenue from $2.5-5 MILLION in retail sales? We may NEVER know.  (Nov 3, 2009 | post #7)

No on Measure A

I personally am disappointed that while only 25 precincts have reported at this time, it seem Measure A is losing. I grew up in North Canton, OH. DDR built Belden Park Crossings in my town in 1997. While the area around Canton/North grew into a "bedroom " community for commuters trying to avoid the high taxes of living in Cleveland and Akron, many shopping centers and restaurants started popping up. DDR has done a wonderful job of keeping stores in their shopping centers. The amount of revenue that such shopping centers brings to our area has blossomed. People drive there from up to 100 miles to shop. We are surrounded by many small towns, just as Ukiah. As many industries started closing, ie: Hoover & Timken, the need for retail never diminished. Our stores still thrive! It seems the difference between Canton, Ohio and Ukiah, besides size and population (remember, our population expanded around the same time as the explosion in retail) is the voters and mindset of the people. Our voters vote along all demographics. But one thing remains, they KNOW that the jobs generated will HELP us in the long run. Jobs generate taxes. Retail sales generate taxes. As far as any argument of crime going up...in our case it didn't. We already had a wonderful township police department, which grew with the tax revenue brought in by the new sopping areas. Why don't the voters here want more jobs, more tax revenue, possibly more housing starts and something done with a hideous site? Why don't voters here think of others besides themselves? I used to think living in California would be like a fairy tale, so far it's nothing short of a comedy!  (Nov 3, 2009 | post #6)
