When you find yourself questioning your sexual preferences and want to find a willing partner with which to explore terra incognito.......wh y, what better place to advertise than in a public forum like this? Only here can you be assured of finding emotionally stable, high quality partners.  (Mar 3, 2009 | post #16)

BREAKING NEWS: Ark. gov. rallies support for tobacco tax ...

"And for those homosexual smokers, it discriminates against them based on sexual orientation." Huh? How's that. America 1st? How/when did one's sexuality become a part of the issue? "....all you anti smokers would see tax increases that would be made to make up for the amount of money the government raises from the taxes they get already from us." So we should be grateful, then, that your filthy and unhealthy habit is making life easier for the rest of us? You're amazing, jimbo!  (Feb 6, 2009 | post #14)

Ha ha ha........you are funny, America; and I find myself wondering how you might have coped had YOU been born gay. For, contrary to what you seem to believe, sexual orientation is not learned it is innate. When puberty hits, the game is on. The unhealthy response of trying to suppress sexuality or enforce heterosexual behavior only results in unhappiness and tragedy. Admittedly, years of having to put up with uninformed, holier-than-thou Christians who would save my soul only in return for a life of unremitting celibacy have made me defensive and, perhaps, a tad angry. But I'm sure that if ever I were to meet you I'd fall in love with you in the blink of an eye, such is your charm, your wit, your intelligence. All three just sparkle! You must be very proud.  (Nov 11, 2008 | post #14)

"Homosexuals willingly choose to engage in homosexual behavior." WRONG! "It's not something they have no control over. I suppose you also excuse pedophiles who sexually abuse children because they were born that way, huh?" Pedophiles are not necessarily Homosexual; and Homosexuals are not necessarily Pedophiles. You do yourself no great favors espousing this sort of neanderthal thinking on a public forum. "And no one has denied homosexuals any rights. Homosexuals never have been afforded the same recognition, rights and privileges as married heterosexual couples. When homosexuals willingly choose to engage in homosexual activity, they waive the rights afforded to others who engage in normal activity." WRONG again. You would deny them their rights, and happily so. You are a walking/talking example of what happens when someone is filled with fear and otherwise lack the intelligence which would enable them to stop clinging to mythologies to make themselves feel good and superior. There's obviously no point in continuing this discussion with someone whose thinking is narrow and borne of fear and loathing.  (Nov 10, 2008 | post #12)

Catholics Asked to Stop Komen Donations

Frankly, we'd all be much better off if only we could learn to clearly separate Church from State. Religious beliefs of some should have no place in formulating societal laws of all. Pure. Simple. We'd be far ahead of the game if only we could do away with religions altogether; they're at the very source of all the world's strifes and wars. And if we can't do away with them, let's at least make it impossible for them to lobby and influence governmental policy.  (Nov 10, 2008 | post #6421)

And how would you react, America 1st, if you were born homosexual....and with seventy or so years before you during which you were demeaned, denied rights and made to feel worthless and a great mistake? It's not as though there's a button which we refuse to push which will cleanse us of our filthy habit. People like you, in the course of their lives, are often times forced to confront the very situations they've spent years railing about. Check your closet, buddy.  (Nov 10, 2008 | post #10)

drop in retail sales

I have a better idea: forego Christmas altogether. Really. Let those who believe and must celebrate the religious aspects go to church, get together with friends and family, return to the original point of the holiday observation. There's no good reason why the success or failure of a religious holiday should be measured in terms of sales volumes and mall census.  (Nov 9, 2008 | post #2)

Once again, it's been plainly demonstrated that at the heart of America's social disagreements lies an unhealthy obsession with religion and a desire to encourage its incursion into politics. No agendas here, just as simple belief that we all have a right to life, liberty...blah blah blah... Pedophiles and sex offenders hardly describe the vast majority of well adjusted homosexual couples in committed long term relationships. It's apparent that if agendas are on offer here you, sir, are behind them.  (Nov 9, 2008 | post #8)

America 1st seems to have pedophiles on the brain, for the question asked was (and I'll quote it directly from Intelligent's post): "Please, America 1st, provide the research or documentation that there is any harm done to children raised by an unmarried couple." No one said anything about pedophiles, now did they? Furthermore, Mr. 1st, I would suggest that, in the future, you may wish to refrain from referring to yourself as educated (at least in public discussions such as these) when, in fact, you are far from enlightened or informed in this area. Your thoughts, as you expressed them, don't redound to your benefit at all. A very amusing post, though. Thanks for the laughs.  (Nov 7, 2008 | post #6)

Opera

A searing Elektra at Seattle Opera

Clay, I'm jealous. "Elektra " is among my top five most cherished operas, and it's been a long while since I've seen it in live performance (Nilsson at a Met matinee years ago). I'm not at all familiar with Jayne Casselman but, prompted by your post, I read some critical reviews of the performance; and all seemed very pleased with it. I live in a part of the country which is unlikely to ever place very much importance on opera and vocal arts; so I must travel if I wish to participate. And so I do. Still waiting for a semi-local production of Elektra, though.  (Nov 7, 2008 | post #2)

Blacks revel in joy, pride

"Thats why there are no responses from black people in these forums, just white people who feel they needto stick up for them for some odd reason." Yeah. Who in their right mind would want to stick up for black people? Why that would be ridiculous. You're a sorry lot.  (Nov 6, 2008 | post #5)

Arkansas Voters Hit Polls Early for Nov. 4 Election

"Only Intellect can save this nation." Quite true, and there's no question which candidates possesses it in greater abundance. Pandering to fear and gut-level emotional responses from an anti-intellectual constituency will only insure we remain mired in the present intolerable quicksand.  (Nov 4, 2008 | post #4)
