animal hoarders in G.V.

How many stories can be shared on this subject? Let's see, most people care about the animal children but some so called animal lovers only collect and watch those animals go unprotected and hungry. Makes me soooo sick. Not to mention furious. I think maybe at least 100 starving "pets" find their way here for help in maybe a month or so. Then, after a full tummy, go back for more neglect from where they came from. I got myself into trouble because of it. I just can't turn my back on helpless critters, whether domestic or wild. I've tried, believe me. If a person finds a lost pet, calls Animal Control, gets asked "can you keep he or she until claimed"? Yet, mention the fact you've been feeding and sheltering a stray, are told not to do that. Makes no sense to me.  (Oct 11, 2011 | post #1)

GV store demolished

Scary thing to happen but before we can hear the real story, it will take time to investigate. I'm glad no one was hurt or killed. That was our favorite little store and so convenient to where we live. Hope the store gets rebuilt soon and the employees can get their job back. I've read some nasty comments by some of you and morons shouldn't be permitted to write such rotten statements. Shame on the ones who have. I know everyone who runs that store and is terrible for their loss not to mention the owner of the store. Hope all goes well and will be even a better store someday. We are all struggling these days so why can't people be nicer to one another?  (Jun 20, 2010 | post #2)

realestate selling in Golden Valley

Please realtors who try to sell properties in Golden Valley or other small communities, be honest about qualities or lack of when trying to make the deal. We believed our agent 4 years ago saying our roads would be paved and would have city water within a year or 2 tops. Well, never going to happen for us and am mad about her deceit. We ended up spending over 3 thousand dollars after the fact and even though our land is alright, still get peeved when I think about how she purposely lied to us to make a sale. Add to that, no land line available to us unless we want to pay the extra cost. Ask for computer access and guess what, we are a block shy of getting that. After months of exploring, found we can get internet access thru a dish using Sky Blue. Thank my lucky stars right? Cost us alot more than we bargained for. Shouldn't be complaining tho, at least I have some modern technology here. And, no flood insurance available for us either. She told us we would be in a flood zone and not to worry because we were protected. Found out, another fib. I tracked this so called agent and find out she lost her license the following year. So, now what can I do as a consumer? Told, nothing can be recovered for me and to let it go. Guess, live and learn? But how fair is that for us consumers?  (Mar 9, 2010 | post #1)

help our wildlife critters and abandoned pets

Not here. All the animals eat together and don't kill each other. Last summer I saved wild bunnies that were born under our house. Built a ramp so they could climb out when they grew big enough. They survived and still live here. Had to train them to stay out of our garden. Took awhile but they caught on by the end of the year. Going broke feeding everything but wouldn't trade the experience for anything. 2 coyotes come thru every few days and don't seem wild at all. I don't feed them. Only the smaller animals. Stray cats too but my favorite one disappeared. I think he had been bitten because he looked sickly later on. Feral cats but they leave the birds and rabbits alone. I have a pic of the cat on here too. Sure miss him. Anyway, thanks for replying.  (Mar 9, 2010 | post #4)

help our wildlife critters and abandoned pets

Thanks. This is momma kit fox. She was injured last year on our property. Then not long later baby and daddy start coming to my window in my computer room. They eat cat food, food scraps and eggs. Pretty neat how they "adopted " me. That concrete block shows just how small momma is. Original names hey? Momma, Daddy, and Baby. Ha! They are here every supper time.  (Mar 9, 2010 | post #2)

Disappointed in Laughlin

You are welcome Rick. I try to be honest and fair with my comments and sounds like you are and do also. Did you know the tribe shut down the tents selling gems and minerals etc. a couple of weeks ago? Thought it was rotten of the tribe to do that to them. Talked to a few vendors that had a contract to be there and the tribe decided to kick them all off the property. Claims some casinos were upset hearing the Avi grounds looked like "tent city". Those folks brought in alot of business for the casino and lodging and then got kicked out. Unbelievable to me how crude the tribe behaved. The vendors only had a three day notice. Some of the women there were alone with no help to pack up and move on. Anyway, this one older woman (in her 70's) told me she will never come back here because of them. I don't blame her one bit. She said she spoke to a lawyer and he told her there was nothing he could do to help protect the contract she had signed. All rights were with the tribe. So why sign a contract if not inforceable? Sure gave me a bad taste in my mouth. I forgot where she said she was from but remember a good 2-3 day drive to get here. What's your take on this one?  (Mar 8, 2010 | post #47)

Disappointed in Laughlin

I have to comment now after reading so many negative posts and bickering back and forth over nonsense. Why is it that people enjoy posting nasty comments towards ones they disagree with? We all have a right to comment on what we feel right. Who cares if another doesn't agree with your opinion. Shouldn't act like immature babies. I love it here and Laughlin is a nice place whether to gamble or see a show or eat at the buffets. I've met tons of very nice snowbirds and locals but also alot of nasty ones too. But why complain about so much? We don't live in a perfect world. Why not instead compliment the accomplishments of Laughlin or anywhere else for that matter instead of nitpicking at each others difference of opinion. I would think it would depend on the people with the RV's length of time in the casino but isn't it the same as a car left running? I've seen that many times and no one complained.  (Mar 4, 2010 | post #41)

Oatman and the BLM

Our kids came for a visit from Wisconsin and took them to see Oatman today. Signs up saying to stop feeding the donkey's. Talked to a shop owner and he told us about the BLM pressuring them to stop or the donkey's will be taken away. That is so stupid and bureaucratic and they are trying to control a good thing Oatman had for so many years. Was so pathetic to see the donkey's coming up to people and no one could give them carrots in fear they were doing something illegal. Well, made me so mad seeing how fearful shop owners were and how they will lose business in the long run. Not fair one bit. The man I talked to said in no time Oatman will lose out and will end up like Chloride did. Guess the BLM caused their demise too. Ever go that way and see how miserable that town became? Interesting to me because I always wondered what happened to that town. Now I know. Let's get together and keep Oatman alive and well. Can you imagine how many years those donkey's were there and survived because of generous humans caring for them? All of what Oatman has is history and I'll be damned if they win. Help Oatman live please.  (Feb 16, 2010 | post #1)

lost dog in golden valley, $$REWARD$$

We'll keep our eyes open for him Jason. Sad for a small dog to get loose and hope he finds his way back home. We find animals so often here too and never find their owner. I wish you luck.  (Feb 12, 2010 | post #3)

mail carriers and "service"

I understand and also agree with you. It's so frustrating though and seems nothing gets done to correct the problem. Even had the police come out to show them the mail scattered on the road, ripped open mail, etc. and each blame the other. I took pictures before and after the vandalism. It's time we look after ourselves obviously and get our community back to what was intended to live happier more trusting lives. Such a shame something most take for granted of is tossed to the side. To me mail and our carriers should take more pride in their work and report something out of the ordinary. We should get together with "watches " or something and don't be so afraid of conflicts as these.  (Feb 11, 2010 | post #22)

Golden Valley Man Arrested for Beating 4-Year-Old with a ...

What a horrible torture for that little child to endure!!!! Every time we go shopping, we hear or see an adult abuse a child. Well, in my eyes, it's abusive. Whether by words or physical. A few weeks ago while in Wal-Mart, a woman was screaming, and I mean screaming at a little girl sitting in the shopping cart. I had to say something to that so called mom. She told me to mind my own business and continued to scream at her daughter. I went to find someone to witness and report her along with me but no one wanted to do anything about it. Unbelievable! I didn't have my cell phone with me to call 911 so asked others to help but no one would. I just couldn't believe how people just walked away and let it continue. I followed that woman all over the store and sure made her mad at me but kept following her anyhow. The little girl finally stopped crying and without thinking, I picked her up and looked her over for any signs of bruises or cuts. Didn't see anything but sure broke my heart to witness a small child put in that position. The woman finally calms down and begged me to keep quiet about this. Found out she was the babysitter. She gives me her story how she lost her firstborn during birth and needed therapy. Whatever!!!! But, at least I got involved and didn't walk away like everyone else did that day. To make a long story short, the father was called and took the little girl home and no longer employs that babysitter. He didn't want to bring charges. I don't understand how some people think. Even though I think of that little girl all of the time, still bothers me of what I witnessed, at least know I got involved for her sake.  (Feb 9, 2010 | post #1)

mail carriers and "service"

No need to get in a huff. I've only complained about one carrier, not the entire postal staff. And, our lives aren't that wonderful. We struggle with many issues like anyone else has to deal with. Called, part of living. The post office pays pretty well, I know, I was a gov't employee but I respected my job and the public too. I was hired for a specific title and if I messed up, sure deserved to be fired or reprimanded. This guy here just comes and goes as he pleases, has been reported time and time again. My mail is important to me as I run a small business and expect correspondence delivered. That is his job!!!! My livelihood depends on receiving my mail from customers. I'm not about to move to another part of town to please the carrier.  (Feb 9, 2010 | post #19)

mail carriers and "service"

I followed up later once no call was returned to me. Also called phone numbers you suggested. Still nothing, and, talked to our carrier yesterday. He had nothing good to say and drove off in a huff. We've decided to rent a box in Kingman instead of this garbage we have to cope with. It's a good 20 miles to drive and just angry about what goes on here and we feeling forced to allow this to go on. Maybe the super will pay for our gas. Yeah, right. Sorry if I sound crabby but am done complaining and getting upset anymore.  (Feb 6, 2010 | post #16)
