child murders 1980

We know that he had committed crimes prior to this one. Your mother was a very smart woman to tell you to stay away from this man, he was evil and its good that she saw this in him. I certainly hope that you are doing well and I am glad that we could offer closure. We have to live our lives with happiness as we only get one life and it is way too short to live with regret, anger or any negative issues. As I grew I did have times of anger but that turned to why when I had my first child in 1989. This is how I found out that he had died. I called the prison because I was going to go talk to this man and ask him why. The prison official who answered the phone asked if I was family and I said I was the victims sister and she informed me that he had died earlier in the year from natural causes.  (Jul 13, 2012 | post #11)

@thinkgrl Please do not let this haunt you any longer because my mother tells the story about the little girl who brought her son home to her and she is very greatful when telling this story. So please be thankful that you were in the right place to be able to do this for my mother and our family, I know that I am very thankful, life would be very different if we were always wondering where Roy was located. You were playing I believe Hide N Seek at the time and you went into the house to hide. You went home, told your mother that there was people in the house that was very sick and needed help, so she called over and over until she finally got the police on the phone and asked for an ambulance. It took a long time for them to answer the phone and then a long time to get to the house cause the guy who killed them had all ready moved one of the bodies out into the back yard by the fence, the other was in the basement. I remember the news coverage because it was playing when the reporter showed up at our door and informed my mother that 2 bodies had been found, had she heard yet and of course she hadn't heard anything yet. So she closed the door and sat in front of the television to watch the coverage on channel 7, it showed the first responders wearing suits with gas masks to recover the bodies she just shook her head and cried for the first time since they had been missing. The only reporter that she would speak to after that was Dale Huffman. That is the hardest part looking back on everything is that my mother had to find out by watching the news, the police had not come to our house until hours later to talk to our family about the bodies that were discovered.  (Jul 12, 2012 | post #9)

@former Daytonian, yes he was arrested and it did go to trial, he was convicted of 2 murders, my brother and his best friend who was the same age. My father was a very angry man in general. The person who committed the murders lived in the abandoned house where the bodies were discovered. The person had mental issues and his family had tried to convince Ohio that he should not have been released from the institution but they released him since his previous crimes were not too bad. He had all ready been charged and convicted of many petty crimes but had issues his whole life, the state did not listen to the families request, but he did die in 1989 in prison where he belonged.  (Jul 12, 2012 | post #8)

It happened off of Main Street behind the old Suttmillers, the house where they were found was on Lawn street. Both boys were 11 years old. One of the boys was named Roy and he was my brother. I was only 9 at the time, 32 years ago seems like a long time but it is not when you lose someone that you were close to, even as a child it sticks with you for the rest of your life.  (Mar 3, 2012 | post #4)

I may be able to help with your questions. I know that this was posted to the forums quite a long time ago, I just stumbled onto this and curious as to what you want to know about the 2 boys and / or the man who murdered them in August of 1980.  (Mar 2, 2012 | post #2)
