Kingman salutes Vietnam vets

Transcript of Don Allen interview ďI want to talk about why we came to Kingman. Actually when we drove into Arizona, I drove overnight to get here in order to go to Bullhead, make a stop there, then we went to Golden Valley, had a beautiful ceremony in Golden Valley. And our ultimate goal was to get to Kingman. Well, why did we do that? And then have an escort out of here from Kingman to Lake Havasu. Whatís important that everybody understand is that we started this event from Day 1 with a Lake Havasu community event which included all those communities and the method that I chose to include all of those other communities was to go to Parisha and say, ďI need your assistance on this.Ē Weíre very much the same in many ways, weíre both of the Cherokee Nation, just different parts of the Nation. But, we think alike, so when we sat and discussed this, we talked about the concept of the umbrella. And this is an umbrella, put aside all the petty differences that we go through, religion, politics, I donít know, whatever you want to argue about.Ē ďEven among the veterans, they argue amongst themselves. And we just put all that stuff aside, and for a period of time, do the right thing as Americans and put the rest of it away. And so, thatís the philosophy that we believe in very strongly, and so the short reason is the long reason for us participating in all of these communities, is Parisha. I mean thatís why we did this, and thatís why we continued all the planning and everything to be able to get here in time to do that before we came down to this location. We just happened to be sitting there, this is about the community, Lake Havasu community, not the city. And so, I guess if I had to characterize, I will characterize, we came to Kingman because of her, because of our personal friendship, our personal trust. We as Patriots, we work with those people that we trust and she is held in very high regard by us and so the reason we came here was because of her.Ē ďAnd I need to also be clear, that should we go back there, it would be because of her. And I also want to be clear that I think it was insulting that ceremony that we attended, and busted our butt, and spent a great deal of money to get there, and whoever ran that ceremony didnít do us the common courtesy of even talking about that or giving us the opportunity to speak. They took the occasion of us being there, based on Parishaís friendship, and used it for their own purposes. They turned it into Ďthemí not the larger purpose. This is not about me, itís not about you, and itís certainly not about them. The cost of freedom is about all of the men and women that have come before us and given themselves. People do that, they make it about themselves. Thatís not what we are going to be about. And I was embarrassed for the community when they did that. They may have thought they were doing something wonderful and they may feel good about it but it was embarrassing to me. I donít have to speak, thatís not whatís important, but they didnít do the right thing. And so, however you chose to characterize that, thatís my opinion. And short story, we came here because of Parisha, if we ever choose to come back there it will be because of her. And thatís as simple as I can say it. And thatís because she is a member of our family and will remain so.Ē Don Allan  (Sep 24, 2010 | post #1)

Patriot Days Pictures at the new Kingman Civic Synergy Site. http://kingmancivi csynergy.org/?page _id=99 Kingman Civic Synergy Association is an open, public session for the discussion and gathering of ideas and solutions for a productive and supportive effort, and action group organization to get things done, here and now. We work in complement to all of our Cityís appointed committees and councils; not by just sitting and waiting for the few elected to do it, but where they may not be able to politically go further, we can. Success will happen, and growth and industry will come, as each committee is formed with common interest and strong determination. The diversity of people and the differences of opinions and values become a plus at present, while we learn to truly be a learning community project. The point remains, each person is needed and counted and has value to offer for the good of all the community. We invite people from all areas of Kingman and Mohave County, and have an inclusive platform that allows and supports all community needs. Even with conflict, we have already experienced growth. Kingman has real and good people who do and can work together for the good of all.  (Sep 23, 2010 | post #1)
