LOL I was not out to 'win" anything, I was just trying to prove a point. That you can not sit back in one breath and say you give all your glory to God and then look down your nose to others. Due to lack. I understand your point, you have very good points. I have seen people that stand in line for "free" things that can get off their butts and get a job, I know how hard it is to get others that are used to getting a "handout " off their butts. The main problem is most of the people are raised in a home with lack, and the parents teach it is ok to be that way, so it goes on from generation to the next. and so on..I really do understand how hard it is, but we together can still stand up and help these people, truely show compassion and give to the ones who need it the most, then all it takes is 1 person, just 1 in the family to see that living that way is not ok and it does not have to be that way. then they can change the furture for the entire family all the way down the line..God has given us all a path, and I am sure he is not done using you yet, don't give up on the people you do help, seek God for your path, he will lead you the way. Sounds to me that you have no ground to stand on judging Jennifer for her opininon, when you seem to look your nose down on others yourself. No one is perfect, and yes I belive we all should work for our money and I think no one should get a free hand out, but I also believe God has us here to be a blessing to others. We are called to love each other and help each other. Through us and our joy the less fornuate will know and learn of God. You act as if everyone that needs help is a fat druggie...what is that? Then you ask all the questions you really should be asking yourself. I can answer them honestly for you at least for me: 1- I pray for the sick everyday, I lay hands on my friends family and co workers for healing. 2- I feed my neighbors in need, last week I took 4 bags of food to a lady down the street who just lost her job and has 2 children. 3- I pay my tithes every week, 10% plus and offering for extras. This comes off the top of my income. 4- I volenteer everyday, tonight and all this week I have spent over 20 hrs helping single mothers of our soilders get back to school clothing for their children. 5- I take at least 3 kids, and my own to church everyweek. Due to the parents either do not go, or work. Jesus came to save us from our sins. He loves all of us, rich or poor. God does not care about what you have, he is looking at your heart. Most people jsut need a little kindness and love to get back on tract with their lives. (2 hrs ago | post #70)
I think if a new homless shelter were to be built anywhere I would be for it. We are called to love each other, and like so many have already pointed out not all homeless people are drug addicts or drunks. Some have jobs, children and just need a little bit of help. Most are just needing love and to have someone show they care. maybe they can come up with some sort of plan for the people that are going to live there, like help with jobs and school and stuff. That is what we do here with our shelter, we give them help they need, they follow rules and we support them with love and understanding. Most are lifted up and get out there to better themselves, they just need a little push...and kindness. (4 hrs ago | post #53)
