How a Company manages risk reflects the quality of its products

What do I mean when I mention how a company manages risk(I am angry at Astrazeneca). They spent $539 Million to defend a product that is obviously risky. They set aside $250 Million to settle with the Federal Government for some medicaid fraud. Who controls the money at Astrazeneca???? I need an insulin pump because of the Seroquel induced hyperglycemeia(Hig h Blood Sugar) and may need a new liver in the future due to Seroquel induced diabetic hepatitis. Who will pay for my personal injury? This does not include the more common complications of diabetes such as blindness, nerve damage and, but not limited to, amputation. If they(Astrazeneca) seems to have mismanaged the risk involved in a potential huge lawsuit against one one of their manufactured products, how could anyone trust those products. Diabetes beat there "We'll fight the lawsuit toe to toe" attitude.  (Friday Nov 13 | post #1)

Don't Underestimate Diabetes

For some reason the use of Seroquel recently increased 9 Fold in children in Minnesota..Why? I speak from experience(see the seroquel lawsuit thread) don't underestimate the cost, severity of physical damage, emotional turmoil and general life threatening conditions of diabetes. If your a child in Minnesota, or anywhere, don't take Seroquel, the risk is to great of developing diabetes.  (Friday Nov 13 | post #1)

For those skeptical or prejudice against lawsuits, I was notified that I have to have an insulin pump because the diabetes is so brittle. This costs 300-$450 per month plus the cost of the pump. My insurance will only cover the cost of the pump itself.  (Thursday Nov 12 | post #404)

For those of you who may be skeptical of why lawsuits occur against these companies, I was notified that I need an insulin pump since I can't manage the severity and brittle nature of the diabetes with syringes. The cost is astronomical... Well, I just found out I cannot afford an insulin pump because the monthly cost runs from $300-$450 per month not including the pump itself. I went to www.diabetespilot. com and input my blood sugars, I was normal only 18% of the time, the rest of the time my readings were either too high or too low. I am still trying Animas, Medtronic to find a way to pay for the pump. By the way these pumps significantly reduce the probability of complications.  (Thursday Nov 12 | post #1)

Taking Seroquel for 15 months.

Usually there is a pattern, such as weight gain in the first 11 weeks, which increases the risk of diabetes. I became very lethargic and inactive on the drug and it soon became an antidepressant. Have you aunt take blood sugars just in case.  (Thursday Nov 12 | post #6)

$539 Million here, $525 Million there....? For that amount Astrazeneca and the legal system could have settled with the 14,444 patients suffering from diabetes. No, instead the money went to the defense attornies and the government.
