Junction Cutie

Whos' the cute sexy little thing that drives a silver mini-van with the stick figure family decal on the back window? I saw her today as I was fueling at a gas station in the middle of town. She looked at me and smiled and waved. Just curious. She was a Hispanic beauty!  (Mar 19, 2014 | post #1)

Searching for Gomez Family

I am doing research for a family tree on my grandfather's family that was originally from Brogado/Balmorhea area. My grandfather''s name was Domitilo Gomez. He was the youngest son of Severo Gomez and Reyes Vejil Gomez who were from the area called La Junta in Chihuahua, Mexico. They had children born in Brogado/Balmorhea area. My grandfather's brothers and sisters were: Secundino, Santos, Elfida, and Francisco. I am looking for Gomez family members that are related to Domitilo or his father Severo, or any of the brothers and sisters. The family story is that the Gomez are decendants of the Apache Chief Gomez that lived in the Davis Mountains in and around the Balmorhea area. In fact, Gomez peak is named for this Chief Gomez. If there is anyone there that may think there is a connection between our families or have similar stories, pictures, or any information please contact me here. I would very much like to meet you and talk with you of our common ancestry.  (Jul 20, 2011 | post #1)

cops in Ft. Stockton

I had the same type of thing happen when one of my family members truck's tires were all slashed. Our neighbor saw what happened, and had a good look at the suspect. A couple of cops came by to take a report and statement, and talk to the neighbor. They told him they would be back to do a photo lineup as we had a good idea who did it and the description matched, but as of today they have never done it. That was 2 years ago! Of course one of those officers is no longer with the dept. or even a cop anymore. And the "suspect " still walks around smiling because he knows he got away with it. And around here it's who you know that counts....I guess he knew the right cops.  (Aug 9, 2010 | post #51)

Who is taking care of our Veterans?

Why are our Veterans having such a hassle just to see the local doc whose office is appointed as the local VA clinic? Why do some of our Vets get pushed into having to use Medicare/personal health insurance instead of the VA benefits that they have already earned? Why is there no one appointed to see our Vets for treatment when the good doc is away on vacation?  (Jul 10, 2010 | post #1)

Police Officer Under Investigation for Assault

He does need to pay for using his position to violate citizen's civil rights! But, he did not act alone. There are other officers involved with the assault that happened in Sept.'08 that have not come to light. Why are they also not being investigated and punished? I for one would not want to pull over for one of Ft. Stockton's finest for fear of being beaten for no good reason. I honestly hope that this former officer is never allowed to hide behind a badge again. Maybe he should be subjected to the same treatment he dished out on the citizen that was already cuffed, maced, and in custody. I'd love to be in a room with him for a little while and give him some good ol' fashioned west texas justice.  (Nov 3, 2009 | post #4)

Yeah, they need to start from the top down though. It is common knowledge that the problems in the police dept. begin with the chief of police. One bad apple spoils the bunch. I know there are some legitimately good officers there, but there are those that walk that fine line. I believe if more people stood up against the injustice that Ft. Stockton police are dishing out then maybe we could get better qualified people to protect the streets that our children and families walk.  (Nov 3, 2009 | post #4)
