Cat Codes 92,93,94,95 on a 05 Cat C15

Thank-you for the kind words :) Unfortunately, I don't have the time I once did to get online & answer questions. Our local businesses have grown to the point where it's almost overwhelming, even with 8 full-time employees helping me! Glad you solved the problem, sounds like it was an "easy fix" :) Our online diagnostic & programming services have now grown to 42 locations in 9 countries, with 3 techs available daily to handle questions & repairs. For those in need of these services, you can learn more about our products here: www.kjrpower.com If you have a computer & adapter, we can do the rest :)  (Dec 13, 2015 | post #8)

cat c15 motor - coolant circulation problem

If you can't see any external leaks, and it's not in the oil pan, then it's probably burning-off inside the cylinders. What color is your exhaust smoke, or is it clean?  (Nov 20, 2015 | post #41)

If you have a BXS engine, you will only get 6.5 volts on one outside pin & 5 volts on the other outside pin, The center pin is for the signal return to the ECM. The code 385-3 is very common, and 95% of the time it is the sensor. To test this, unplug the sensor without removing it & plug in a new one. If the check engine light goes away, then the sensor is bad...change it! If the light doesn't go out, start checking the voltages & wiring harness. Always unplug & plug in sensors with the key off!  (Nov 20, 2015 | post #6)

rough run won't start

Check the fuel pressure regulator first. When the spring gets weak, the pressure starts dropping. First it misses & sputters, then it won't start on it's own. If you give it a shot of ether and it starts them keeps running, I would replace the regulator!  (Nov 20, 2015 | post #4)

Most likely it's the internal wiring harness, located inside the rocker-box above the head. The wires for Injector 1, 2 and those same actuators run together. Could be shorting out, pull valve covers & inspect.  (Oct 12, 2015 | post #2)

6TS CAT engine cutting power like its short of diesel

Replace the fuel pressure regulator, and all your problems should be solved! It is located on the fuel filter housing at the rear, screws in from underneath. It has a one-inch bolt head on it, and it located directly below the return fuel line coming from the back of the head to the filter housing. When these fail, the engine "starves " for fuel, and the fuel temps rise because the fuel is now flowing "too fast" thru the head and fuel lines, transferring engine heat to the circulating fuel.  (Oct 12, 2015 | post #2)

The new C15 acert engine

A 2008 C-15 is an SDP emissions engine, with the DPF filter system. I'm guessing the filter is dirty & plugged, or the ARD system is not doing a regen. These systems fail all the time, and cost BIG bucks to fix :( We can turn all that stuff off & make your engine run better than ever before, plus increase fuel mpg 1 to 2 mpg. We have solutions for EVERY Cat, Cummins & Detroit engine on the road today :) www.kjrpower.com  (Oct 12, 2015 | post #873)

If it has a clutch pedal for starting & stopping, then it's an "auto-shift " trans, not an automatic. You can remove the shift control box from the top of the trans & put a stick shift on it. Reprogram ECM from auto-shift to manual, roll on down the road :)  (Oct 12, 2015 | post #872)

how to hack caterpillar ecm

The problem is in your wiring, somewhere between the trans speed sensor & the ECM, or between the ECM and your speedometer. This wiring is twisted on turn every inch, and is often regerred to as "twisted-pair s". You will see this on ANY magnetic sensor, regardless of truck manufacturer or engine type. To test these wires, remove the REAR connector on the ECM, closest to the cab. There are 70 pins on this connector, and they are numbered. Pin 36 is the speedometer + the wire number is C-974. Pin 37 is the speedometer - the wire number is C-973. Pin 32 is the trans speed sensor + the wire number is G-808. Pin 33 is the trans speed sensor - the wire number is G-809. Use an ohm meter, and check continuity from the trans speed sensor to pins 32 & 33. Do the same thing between pins 36 & 37 and the speedometer. If you repair a wire, make sure the "twist" stays in it!  (Oct 12, 2015 | post #60)

Since the voltage readings both check out, the sensor is usually faulty. Cost is about $120 around here. Now, are you just seeing a Code 95? Do you have any additional code information, that starts with a 385-xx type of number? Code 95 can mean more than 1 thing...it can be the IVA oil pressure sending unit, or it can be the #6 Intake Valve Actuator. See the chart below :) J-1939 J-1939 FAULT Flash Code SPN FMI 2955--05 290--05 INTAKE VALVE ACTUATOR #6 CURRENT LOW 95 2955--06 290--06 INTAKE VALVE ACTUATOR #6 CURRENT HIGH 95 2955--07 290--07 INTAKE VALVE ACTUATOR #6 CURRENT NOT RESPONDING 95 2948--01 385--01 LOW INTAKE VALVE ACTUATION SYSTEM OIL PRESSURE 95 2948--03 385--03 INTAKE VALVE ACTUATION OIL PRESSURE VOLTAGE HIGH 95 2948--04 385--04 INTAKE VALVE ACTUATION OIL PRESSURE VOLTAGE LOW 95  (May 5, 2015 | post #56)

Check the IAP sensor (Injection Actuation Pressure). It is operated by oil pressure and this is what controls the power to the high-pressure pump on a 3126-HEUI  (May 4, 2015 | post #3)

I need torque specs for a 3406 B cat valve cover

There is, it's 35 ft lbs. I usually just snug them down first, then tighten them down in a criss-cross pattern.  (Mar 8, 2015 | post #2)
