Home Depot & Lowes are also partly to blame, having killed off most of the hardware stores in the area.  (Apr 11, 2009 | post #19)

Leominster garbage limitations trashed by councilor - Sen...

Haven't seen any trucks with the "claw" to pick up and dump the bins. I have seen the crews stop, flip open the bin, and manually take the trash bags and toss them into the truck. I recall as part of the contract, Fiore was to purchase NEW trucks to do the work.  (Apr 9, 2009 | post #31)

Similar problem, plastic flower pots and trays which ARE marked with the recycle symbol. They were taken out of the recycle last week and tossed onto the sidewalk. No response from the BOH so far.  (Apr 9, 2009 | post #30)

Leominster garbage limitations trashed by councilor - Sen...

I'm under the impression the contract was negotiated between the Mayor, City Purchasing Agent, and Fiore. From what I've been told, some contracts are not run by the City Council.  (Apr 9, 2009 | post #29)

RE: Reaching into the barrel I thought the barrell's were designed to be picked up via a 'claw' arrangement and dumped into the trucks. That's what I've seen in other communities. I see Fiore is also in the process of winning trash contracts in some other towns also... PS to "Get Lost", BIOYAT  (Apr 8, 2009 | post #23)

Leominster officials await update on trash pick-up - Sent...

Good, maybe I'll get an answer to the question of what to do with the old recycle bins. Got no answer from email's or the mayor or Mr. Marchand on this...  (Apr 7, 2009 | post #2)

The details of Leominster's trash plan - Sentinel & Enter...

Same problem last week, the recycle bin was picked over and things tossed onto the sidewalk, including an empty windshield washer jug, bleach bottle, and some plastic plant trays. "no hazardous containers, no plant trays" was the response I got. What's next... Fine, no problem, it will go into the regular trash.  (Apr 5, 2009 | post #14)

Westminster cell tower plan hits snag - Sentinel & Enterp...

Wondering why the cell tower behind Mr. Mikes off Rt 117 and I-190 wasn't completed? There were some issues regarding a "fall zone" mentioned. It's been a few months since the tower was partially built, then stopped...  (Apr 5, 2009 | post #16)

Pension costs loom large - Sentinel & Enterprise

I disagree, when Ex Senate President Billy Bulger has had his pension increased to $196,000 per year. And Mr. Simon, who is on Deval's Staff, was fired from his job a few years ago, yet was able to file for and get a pension. I had a neighbor who worked for the Department of Corrections and went out at age 47, with a disability pension. Yet, he runs a home improvement business doing carpentry and other work, and doesn't look disabled.  (Apr 5, 2009 | post #3)
