Messers mkt

Really it isn't nobody's business what Ronnie has in his store. If the machines are in there and they offend you, just stop going in there. Pretty simple solution if you ask me.  (Mar 16, 2016 | post #11)

Remember the old stores in town ?

Druthers Restaurant, I moved away many years ago, but when I come home too visit it always amazes me how much things have changed. I used too catch the bus at Messers Market when it was over in the area where Pizza Hut is at. I remember riding my bike off of the mountain by the yellow water towers. I can't walk into Wal Mart with out remembering living there where the store now is. I remember the Oasis, but I don't remember it being that good, but my best memories are of when I visited my grandma who lived in the lane across from the Drive Inn, and how I loved playing on that hill above her house. After we moved and we came too visit I remember sitting in that drive way, a young boy getting too drive, because the lane was only one car wide, so when the many that came daily for my Mammy to pray for them or just too stop by could leave I would get too drive my dads car and let them out. I also remember the rumor of the poker house back there, it may have been, but too me Bill Warren was as fine a person as could be. He never let no one bother my Mammy. So I guess I know a little about Barbourville, and the ones who are still alive that are older probably remember a lot more. For me though when I come home too visit, it isn't the change that bothers me so much, it's the people. The people are so unaware of how great they have it too live in such a beautiful place that our Lord created. I see how drugs have ravaged my home, and it is sad. I was just down in February too put flowers on my loved ones graves, as I try too do 3 or 4 times a year. It is different than it was when I was a child, but it is still home, and there is no place other than Heaven I would rather be.  (Mar 11, 2016 | post #18)

Beating knox drug court drug tests !

I have heard of men getting someone's urine, and putting it in a Elmers type glue bottle, taping it to their junk so that when they are being watched they can squeeze the bottle and it makes bubbles and putting it to your stuff keeps it the right temp. So drug tests can be beat. Hair follicle tests are also able to be beat. They make shampoos to beat drug tests. I know truck drivers who use wizzinaters too pass their tests so I am sure drug court participants do as well. The fact is if these people have such a problem that they are willing to lose their freedom over, then it is only a matter of time till they are caught again. I don't know how it works where you live, but here where I live, drug court is only offered one time.  (Mar 11, 2016 | post #14)

Convicted murderer accused in attacked on jail officer

It is not the jailers job to discuss how the inmate should feel, or any other topic having to do with the inmates case. It is the jailers job to maintain order, to ensure the inmates are safe, make sure no one is escaping, the type of things jailers are supposed to do. I also think my point of view is being misinterpreted here, because I am not saying the inmate is a good guy, or that the jailer is a bad guy. I am saying if the jailer would have been doing his job, according to his job description, this wouldn't have happened. It is because of him saying something that he had no business saying that this happened. I am not saying you are wrong for your opinion either. I think the inmate got the punishment he deserved according to the justice system, and according to all indications he was serving his sentence and following the rules he was given, if he wasn't then he wouldn't have been allowed in a block where there was a day room that allows inmates to have certain privileges. I am saying simply that the jailer is a victim of this terrible situation, because he talked about something he had absolutely no business talking about.  (Dec 31, 2013 | post #5)

Convicted murderer accused in attacked on jail officer

If you were harassing someone at your workplace you would be fired, it wasn't the inmates place to handle the situation, but no one else would have done anything. I bet he thinks twice before disrespecting another inmate, especially one that doesn't care. That is if he is able to return to work.  (Dec 30, 2013 | post #3)

Convicted murderer accused in attacked on jail officer

First of all I want to say this my opinion, in no way am I saying my opinion is the opinion that other readers and people who choose to comment on this article should be. After reading the story written, I assume the report is based on the facts given to the person who was responsible for writing this story. Based on the information given to us in the story, I formed my opinion. The only ones who know what really happened are the people who were there during this incident, either involved, or as witnesses. While I read the story I was thinking how terrible it must be for the officer who was hurt, but after reading the whole story, my opinion changed. It is a very unfortunate situation for the officer and his family, no matter what happened, but after reading the story it seems as though the whole situation could have been avoided. If the officer would have just done his job, and nothing more we wouldn't be reading about it this morning. I don't agree with how the inmate handled the situation, but in all honesty if it were me in the situation reported, I would have probably done the same thing. According to the story the young man who is accused of assaulting the officer was just convicted of murder and sentenced to prison for a long time. All indications are that the man accused of assaulting the officer was doing his time, I guess he accepted his sentence and he was doing his time. I don't know why the officer felt he needed to make the comment he made to him about taking a life. It isn't up to the officer to make comments to inmates, it is their job to maintain order in the cell block, and make sure all of the inmates are safe from other inmates and theirselves. It is the officers job to make sure no one escapes, stuff like that. It isn't his place to make any statements about the crimes the inmates are in for, or to assume that the punishment handed down to the inmate was or wasn't enough for the crime they committed. There is no indication that the young man was doing anything wrong, he was just asking the officer to leave the television on a little longer. If I was in charge of keeping order of the cell block where convicted murders are housed, I don't think I would try to provoke them, or make them mad by disrespecting them. This man is a murderer, and he is sentenced to a long time in prison. Chances are this young man doesn't have a lot of things to live for, so he probably doesn't care about who or what he has to do to show someone that they are not going to disrespect him. I don't believe this young man should be in trouble for what he did to the officer, because the officer shouldn't have provoked him by disrespecting him. If he wouldn't have disrespected him, this wouldn't have happened. The officer was hired to do a job, not give his opinion, or talk about what the offender did. It is my opinion the officer should be fired, and the young man who hurt him shouldn't get in anymore trouble. He should be allowed to do his time without being harassed.  (Dec 26, 2013 | post #1)

Calvin Perry,s Murder

Calvin Perry was not a good man, but he didn't kill the Osbourn family. That family was murdered because they knew too much, when you publish stories in the paper about the mayor who was a crooked basterd or threaten to write articles that powerful crooked people don't want written, then you die like this family did. Calvin was the perfect person to pin this crime on, as he had the history he had. If you want to know who killed this family, find out who killed Sharon Lapp. I have heard it was one of Fort Wayne's finest. Who knows though. They arrested Calvin and killed him while he was in jail, so they could cover up thier crime.  (Jun 3, 2013 | post #75)

Sudden storm's 91 mph high wind ravages region; thousands...

I can't say one area is worse than another. There is damage just about everywhere you go. Lake Ave by D.O. McComb funeral home was pretty bad, but over all every area is pretty bad.  (Jul 1, 2012 | post #2)

News Anchor Arrested

I never said she shouldn't be held responsible for her actions. I said the media didn't need broadcast it. It would be different if she would have hurt someone. Fortunately she didn't. It was only my opinion I stated, I never one time said that she shouldn't be responsible for the choice she made. I just feel that instead of trying to shame her publicly, she should have been treated the same way you or I would have been treated. I believe she needs help more than she needs judged by the public. I also believe she has more problems that are causing her to make these bad decisions.  (Jun 29, 2012 | post #3)

News Anchor Arrested

I feel bad for Ms. Mary Collins Frank. It is really sad that the media has to broadcast this. I have been watching her for awhile, I think since Ms. Blomquist had her babies. She always seems to be professional, and accurate when delivering the news. I hope that she can get the help she needs, because it is sad to see her going through this. We don't know what she is going through, we should pray for her. I just can't believe she would make a decision to do something so reckless knowing she could have hurt someone or even herself. Also her being a local celebrity should have caused her to think twice about doing something so reckless. I just hope that people will support her, and get her the help she needs. I also pray that her job will give Hera chance together help, instead of firing her and turning thier back on her. Me and my family will be praying for her and her family.  (Jun 27, 2012 | post #1)

27 arrested in meth roundup

Is your husband a legal citizen or legally documented and on his way to becoming a citizen? Then I guess there is no problem. If he isn't legal then he should take the necessary steps to becoming legal. If he is unwilling to do this, then he needs to go back to where he came from!!!  (Jun 18, 2012 | post #6)

Election Poll, June 2012 - Fort Wayne, IN

I am not a fan of either Obama, or Romney. I would vote to keep Obama in office, because I feel the country and our economy are to fragile for any big change in office right now. I wish we could get over the republican and democrat issues we have here in our wonderful country. Give us a candidate who loves thier country, and believes in being honest and fair. One who has executive experience, and has been successful. I am so tired of the person who has or raises the most money winning the election. We Americans need to find our own person who we want to be president, kind of like when George Washington was elected. He didn't want to be president, the people wanted him to be thier president. He didn't have to convince them was the guy for the job, they knew he was so they convinced him to be thier president. It will be hard for any president to ever be for the people of our great Country as long they have to take care of the people who donate the massive amounts of money it takes to win an election. It is the old I scratched your back now scratch mine deal. So I will continue to pray for that person, but will it ever happen? I don't think so.  (Jun 9, 2012 | post #2)
