Pawlenty to propose Minn. constitutional amendment

So basically you're agreeing that Pawlenty didn't impose any religious/morality laws on Minnesota. You just argued against yourself genius.  (Thursday Nov 5 | post #47)

'I don't give a crap about party': The GOP's struggle with surg...

If the GOP would actually govern according to the principles they supposedly support, this wouldn't be a problem. Conservatives would be fully onboard. Instead the GOP claimed to be the home of fiscal responsibility. Instead we got massive govt spending and earmarks. They proclaimed to be the party of personal responsibility. Instead we got more massive entitlement programs. They claimed to be the party of family values. Instead we've gotten scandal after scandal. Although in their defense that's come from both parties. The whole city is one big festering boil. They claim to be the party of rule of law. Instead we got the GOP supporting a mass amnesty program for illegal aliens. No wonder conservatives have abandoned the GOP. The GOP doesn't support their principles any more than the Democrats.  (Monday Nov 2 | post #41)

Authorities investigating stabbing in Ham Lake

Was driving by there right when the police were responding. Ended up having to turn around because the ambulances were blocking the road, but I bet I counted at least two dozen squad cars easily and from flashing lights in the distance more were coming. Response might have been a little excessive. They could have handled a prison break with the amount of officers they had on scene. Hope the victims are okay though.  (Sunday Nov 1 | post #2)

Joe Soucheray: It's not my block. They're not my bricks. It's j...

Let's assume your suspiciously convenient figures are correct. How much does it cost to pave a street with bricks and how much to pave the same street in asphalt? If it costs the same, well, then no contest. If bricks cost twice as much then, well we have to look at how long asphalt lasts and do a cost-benefit analysis. Also consider maintenance. You get a pothole in a asphalt street and you simply fill it. In a brick street you what? And how much does that cost versus filling a pothole. Again cost-benefit analysis. Your fabricated figures don't give the necessary information to logically determine if brick makes sense, even if that's the conclusion you illogically come to based on a fraction of the necessary evidence.  (Wednesday Oct 28 | post #18)

NTSB: NWA flight 188 pilots using laptops, talking scheduling w...

I call BS. How did they not notice air traffic controllers, other pilots and their own airline trying to get a hold of them for over an hour? How did they not notice autopilot twerping at them? It's one thing to lose track of 20 minutes of time...to lose trick of 80 minutes is a bit hard to swallow. Me thinks there is more to this story that these two are letting on....not that I blame them. They are trying to save their own arses after all.  (Monday Oct 26 | post #8)

Woman suspected of stealing from Mahtomedi, Lake Elmo teachers

Actually when you consider it's a job that only exist for about 9 months of the year, it doesn't pay that bad. And before you respond with the predictable rebuttal, yeah member of my immediate family ARE teachers. It's also called supply and demand. All that aside there is no reason to be stealing from ANYONE, even teachers, regardless of how you feel about teachers or their union. Lock her up and force her to pay restitution to the victims. If she's a mother you may as well just put her kids into foster homes, because with her as an example they'd end up as criminals, so let's see if we can cut that one off at the pass.  (Tuesday Oct 20 | post #10)

Those are all legitimate government services, that clearly are pretty solidly allowed by the US Constitution. And if that's all my taxes went to pay for, then I'd be happy, in part because my taxes would be very much lower.  (Tuesday Oct 20 | post #104)

I don't define being opposed to excessive taxation as "wacko". Maybe you do. In which case you are allowed to send in more of your paycheck to the state and/or federal government. They'll take it.  (Tuesday Oct 20 | post #78)

Sure they could sue, but how much justice can you afford? Lawsuits cost a lot, and even if they won, all they do is draw attention to the issue that much more. Fighting PETA's corruption and hypocrisy is a losing battle for the agriculture industry. Easier/better to just ignore them for the crazy hippies they are.  (Tuesday Oct 20 | post #72)

Despite early snow, warmer-than-average winter predicted for Mi...

LOL you my friend must be allergic to reality. The scientific community does NOT accept these "facts" across the board. It's still very much in dispute, especially lately. But even in the prime of the global warming debate there were thousands of scientists that declared that climate change was a natural process and not a man-made problem. And this wonderful green economy you refer to has already been proven to have cost thousands upon thousands of people their jobs in France. Unemployment went through the roof due to your wonderful green economy. In summary, green economys drive costs/unemployment up, benefits are none and the economy goes in the toilet. Yeah, sounds like a wonderful theory you have there.  (Tuesday Oct 20 | post #99)

Agreed, the planet climate and temp change....that's happened for millenia...WITHOUT the influence of mankind. So where is your evidence that mankind has influenced the climate at all. And where is your evidence that Cap&Trade will do ANYTHING. Even it's supporters admit it would measurably change the temperature of our planet.  (Thursday Oct 15 | post #31)

Stimulus scorecard in Minnesota: 11,800 jobs

$135,000 per job "saved". I wonder what the mean salary of those jobs are? I bet it's less than $135,000. And those are public sector jobs, which means next year we'll be asked to pick up the tab directly through our taxes rather than indirectly through our taxes. They just stole the money you worked hard for to save someone else's job. How that feel everyone?  (Oct 13, 2009 | post #37)
