Kansas City Chiefs Want Perfect Attendance

I thought I would weigh in. I am sick of King Carl and will point out that every other AFC West Team has has the Lamar Hunt trophy at least twice since we had it last!!! That said, Herm is his boy; keep it in the family one more year since Herm had history with the Chiefs and they've already committed that nobody is going anywhere for the '08 year. That said, put us in the playoffs or get rid of them both!!!! The draft and FA market have to produce results. I remember the pre-marty years and this past was at best the bottom end. We have become a joke. AND FOR THOSE SEASON TICKET HOLDERS, ENJOY YOUR "LIMITED EDITION" HAT!!!! Carl, put up or get the hell out!!!  (Feb 25, 2008 | post #33)

Shula's mind not on Chiefs' coordinator opening

I agree he would be a big step in the development of Brodie, but I'm not sure his offensive philiosphy is in line with Herm. If Memory serves Mike Shula prefers a more wide open passing offense and Herm wants clock management and a ground game.  (Jan 15, 2008 | post #2)

Herm must make the right call on offensive coordinator

I agree....rather than talking about the obvious, lets talk about who is available and their history and what they can bring to the Chiefs. I'm a little sick of hearing the excuses being made for our poor season. Decisions were made and who is being held accountable?...I'm surprised we're not hearing more from season ticket holders whose incentive for next year is a "limited edition" HAT!!!! I buy Sunday Ticket at 4 bones a year to watch the Chiefs play and have done so for years. I'm not a bandwagon fan but am sick of of watching my hard earned dollar flushed because of poor excuses. sorry for the rant!  (Jan 15, 2008 | post #2)

Is it time to replace Herm Edwards ?

As painful as it was to sit through this year and the fact that I am not a Herm or Carl fan, I still believe in the process. Given the age of the O-line Herm inherited, some credit for MOST of last years picks, and Brodie's playing time this year, I still am going hold out to see what they do in free agency and the draft. What Coaches they hire in the next week or two will be a critical path as well. Specifically, the O-Coordinator, the O-line coach and the QB coach. All that said and given the teams we are playing next year, a loosing season in KC will be unacceptable. I would also say that if those two draft picks from last year in the center of the D-line, don't show significant improvement in stopping the run, you're "philosophy " will also be in the "tank." Its time to make some believers out of the critics.  (Jan 14, 2008 | post #1)

Peterson says both he and Edwards will be back with Chief...

As much as I agree with every statement on this site, the reality is this situation is being treated as a business. Carl and Herm are under contract. Next year will be Herm's 3rd of his deal and Carl will be up on his contract (if memory serves). If significant results are not produced (e.g. Brodie doesn't show improvement, the middle of the defensive line doesn't do a better job of stopping the run AND our Off Coordinator doesn't do better play calling with a better Off Line, etc), then Clark Hunt will be forced to make a move. Free Agency and the Draft will be the first indicators and Day 3 of the draft could be a formal linching party for King Carl and Herm....  (Jan 2, 2008 | post #20)

Pennington And Coles To The Chiefs?

I've seen #3 QB Thigpin play and he will be a solid performer (backup or otherwise). Again just green and needs playing time. I still believe they need to bring in a dedicated QB coach. They need to invest in that offensive line and bring in some corners to take over down the road. Take Parcells off the coaching availability list. He just signed on with the Dolphins as their GM.  (Dec 19, 2007 | post #9)

Herm, have you seen these Chiefs play?

Logan, i agree he hasn't done well in Baltimore. But look at the financials he inherited on Defense. He hasn't had the cap room to make any serious moves on Offense and he is well known within the NFL as a great offensive mind, he just inherited a defensive team. He believes in running the ball with a strong line and play action pass. He has to be better than what we have today....All I'm saying is take a look. Wouldn't be the first time, we took a chance on a fired head coach and brought them in as a coordinator....gun and art still didn't do too back for us  (Dec 19, 2007 | post #32)

Herm, have you seen these Chiefs play?

Herm Edwards from 12/14 Q&A: “We have a plan of what we want to do here. We’re going to build a championship football team. There are ways you do it and that’ll all be talked about at the end of the year. Then we’ll go from there. But right now the most important thing for us is to win a football game and it would be nice to win our last game at home. There’s no doubt about that.” Sounds to me as if a game plan has been put in place to do a little damage control. Another season like this and nobody will be talking about Herm or Carl, they'll be shouting up to the Hunt family. I know they hired Herm to bring in change and build a "system" but I've never heard a coach openingly discuss what the vision or "game plan" is after a season ESPECIALLY before free-agency or the Draft. I mean, how many free agents out there are willing to come to KC unless there are some major paydays involved. Carl have you made that call to Brian Billick yet?  (Dec 18, 2007 | post #30)

Chiefs' Captain Says Players Share Blame for Bad Season

As much as I would like to see Martyball back at Arrowhead, he doesn't have the skills necessary to be a GM whose duties go beyond just selecting players. I would love to see CP run out of town just to get rid of his mediocrity. That said, it'll take a failed season next year with Herm at the wheel before any change of that nature is made. Personnally, I think Cower won't be on the sidelines next year. Any decision for him to return to the sidelines will be driven by where his daughters go to college. Mike Singletary is worth a look somewhere down the road and I think SOMEBODY (*looking at Carl Peterson*) should give Brian Billick a look at Offensive Coordinator after he gets fired from Balitmore. Moreover, Brodie needs a solid QB Coach to help mentor him to the next level.  (Dec 18, 2007 | post #2)

Pennington And Coles To The Chiefs?

Patsfan11111. I'm a Chiefs fan and have no interest in anything to do with a trade or giving up a 1st round pick for Chad or any other player to be named later.  (Dec 17, 2007 | post #3)

Are his hands tied?

Generally good comments but I believe the problems we are witnessing are the result of poor leadership from the GM. Brodie is going to be fine and is just green. You can't expect him to step back and "air it out" with no protection. He'd be the next Chad Pennington!!! The fact that Bowe has over 800 yds is a testiment to get it out quickly and his ability to make plays after the catch. No, our problems are deeper and no "patch job" will cure what ails us. What was the game plan for replacing Willie and Will when they got to retirement age? Then the fans were looking for Champ Bailey and Ty Law as our new found saviors. Where was Carl with a long term vision? Some could even ask WHAT SYSTEM? I don't know if Herm is right in his vision and current direction, but I see an attempt at building a strong smash mouth defense and a running game along with a field position punter. Moreover, I see a foundation being built. Whether or not Herm's philosophy and approach is the right one, I don't know. Nov and Dec football requires a line and the off season movement and draft picks are what I'm waiting for. There is also a rumor that a deal is out there with the Jets for a number 1 pick next year....Carl, do that and it won't be a Tree Lighting ceremony on Thanksgiving, it'll be a Bar-B-Q and you're the guest of honor....start thinking about a left tackle. Get off the quick fix and cultivate a system of young players and depth. course thats just my opinion.....  (Dec 17, 2007 | post #5)

Croyle's biggest mistake was on final pass

I like Croyle. This kid can make the throws and has mobility. What they need to do is bring in a solid QB coach to work with him on reading the def and a deep dive into the playbood. THAT and aggressively get him an offensive line through the draft and free agency. It begins in the trenches and play action pass. This kid will be great if they give him some help. Some O-line help to sustain drives (and rest the def) will go a long way to playoff status. Bowe, keep your head up!!! Got catch those even in the cold weather! You're doing fine and have a bright future!!!  (Dec 17, 2007 | post #6)

Pennington And Coles To The Chiefs?

Please tell me this isn't so!!!! If you're gonna give up draft picks, make sure you get something in return. We need youth, not players run out of town because they're not happy with their situation or coach....We need an offensive left tackle and that should be the 1st draft pick!!!  (Dec 17, 2007 | post #1)
