Morality for naturalists

" ... who gets to decide what is right and what is wrong? Simple answer: no one! A configuration of matter doing one thing cannot be more right or wrong than a configuration of matter doing something else. As atheists that take science seriously, we must deny that there is such a thing as right or wrong. If we don't, then we are committing the same error we accuse the theist of, where illusion trumps reality" Why does the Atheist bother? ... How strange to see "we must" before "deny that there is such a thing as right or wrong." If the 'we' the Atheist refers to is expected to be consistent in the hypocrisy, he is not wrong ... AND he is not right. Now, go figure! ... if even you can.  (Jul 3, 2012 | post #2)

Why Do So Many Believers Think Atheists Are Worse Than Ra...

I was brought up Christian, but I was not taught anyone who believed differently than us was bad. In fact, my interest in Atheism was not discouraged, and only I was asked to be fair in my reasoning between the two. In the process, w/out going into a long explanation of how, I was drawn toward Judaism (not the Kabbalistic form, popularized by pop-culture, but strictly practical Judaism) and found more opposition from not only Christian family members, but others I know who define themselves as Atheists and Agnostics. To me, the loss of support for my finding the right way only happened then. I bring up the different responses I received in both areas because the 2nd poster, along w/ all other atheists, that Atheism is the most persecuted of religions here in America ... and I know for fact, it is not.  (Apr 18, 2012 | post #1713)

Psalm 18:11 "He **made darkness His hiding place**, His canopy around Him, Darkness of waters, thick clouds of the skies." II Samuel 22:11 "12 “And **He made darkness canopies around Him**, A mass of waters, thick clouds of the sky." Job 38 36 “Who has put wisdom in the innermost being Or given understanding to the mind? 37 “Who can count the clouds by wisdom, Or tip the water jars of the heavens, 38 When the dust hardens into a mass And the clods stick together? 39 “Can you hunt the prey for the lion, Or satisfy the appetite of the young lions, 40 When they crouch in their dens And lie in wait in their lair? 41 “Who prepares for the raven its nourishment When its young cry to God And wander about without food? I am the daughter of Missionaries, and they have been not comfort, but terror to me. Missionaries intend to domesticate strangers (making them dependent, rather than independent as God intended) and then they call that their good news. But People are not pets ... God did not create us only to be loved, but to love. Love is in Knowledge, which may be darkness to YOU, but not to those in Love (family, blood, life). You can not love what you do not know ... but missionaries do tend to abandon that which they were born into to go out and attempt to change what they (the missionaries) do not know into something they (the missionaries) can manage. People are not somethings. Habakkuk 3 8 Did the LORD rage against the rivers, Or was your anger against the rivers, Or was Your wrath against the sea, That You rode on Your horses, On Your chariots of salvation? 9 Your bow was made bare, The rods of chastisement were sworn. Selah. We are in desperate need for families to set things right, each in his/her own home, today. If all the missionaries were to return home to make things right within their own family (not with the stranger who is not a stranger in his/her own home) and let God deal with the Nations, would not we see the good rather than the evil? yes, we would. Deuteronomy 4 27 And the LORD shall scatter you among the peoples, and ye shall be left few in number among the nations, whither the LORD shall lead you away. 28 And there ye shall serve gods, the work of men's hands, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell. 29 But from thence ye will seek the LORD thy God; and thou shalt find Him, if thou search after Him with all thy heart and with all thy soul. 30 In thy distress, when all these things are come upon thee, in the end of days, thou wilt return to the LORD thy God, and hearken unto His voice; 31 for the LORD thy God is a merciful God; He will not fail thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which He swore unto them. 37 ***And because He loved thy fathers, and chose their seed after them, and brought thee out with His presence, with His great power, out of Egypt, 38 to drive out nations from before thee greater and mightier than thou, to bring thee in, to give thee their land for an inheritance, as it is this day; 39 know this day, and lay it to thy heart, that the LORD, He is God in heaven above and upon the earth beneath; there is none else.*** Imagine someone coming in and disrupting the peace of your children, passed down through you (the Parent) via the foundation of love (familiarity with one another, which includes tradition and never mythology), would this be acceptable to you? Clearly it is the way it is, right now, but not necessarily the way it should be.  (Apr 17, 2012 | post #4)
