Kobayashi will run for mayor

One thing is for darn sure, Panos is the only one that has a clue on how to engineer a solution to traffic congestion. If that's all he did during his first term, he will have done more than any mayor in recent memory. http://panosforpro gress.com!  (Wednesday | post #17)

Lingle 'likely' will sign anti-rail petition

There goes another "crazy right-wing texas beauty queen with a libertarian bent" signing the petition, I guess, right? IT'S OVER. RAIL IS DEAD. For the Mufia that's reading these comments, CERTAINLY you are smart enough to see that RAIL WILL BE THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY OF HAWAII'S IRAQ. The more Mufi pushes on this, the more people will get sickened by it, and the more THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY WILL LOSE. But the Dems in power already know that. They are already starting to distance themselves from this project. Better hurry up before its too late.  (Thursday Jul 3 | post #118)

Changing climate blows a fiercer wind

Clearly, George Bush is responsible for global warming. As soon as Barack becomes president, our climate will stabilize, the economy will prosper, and Bin Laden will proclaim his love for the US. The lack of critical thinking here is truly alarming. All these college grads with nothing to do in summer....  (Jun 21, 2008 | post #21)

Honolulu's traffic among worst in U.S.

Cool, isn't it, that our worst congested road will be worster if rail were to be built? I'm just so stoked to see that the regular folk are too smart to have the wool pulled over their eyes. It's not too late folks: stop rail now dot com  (Jun 18, 2008 | post #149)

Rail boosters launch media ads

SwedishMeatball, Please tell me the tax increase forced on all Oahu residents for express purpose of ANY neigbhorhood's improvement, like H3, East HNL, etc. You can't  (Jun 18, 2008 | post #78)

Rail boosters launch media ads

Laulau please give us one city in the US that has rail and no traffic congestion. Hint: you can't. Rail doesn't solve traffic congestion. In Honolulu, rail subsidizes West Oahu developers and is a boon to big labor as witnessed by the current support of pro-rail forces  (Jun 18, 2008 | post #77)

Rail boosters launch media ads

Well 'ol buddy, for the longest time you made these unfounded claims that the anti-rail folks were subsidized by big oil/auto/etc. Will you now at least acknowledge that pro-rail is funded by big labor, big business, and big govt? And will you also at least acknowledge that anti rail is a grassroots, citizen-run organization whereas the others are run by well-funded special interest groups  (Jun 18, 2008 | post #76)

Bill to cut climate-changing pollution should be goal next year

I'm so completely happy to see that the majority of the folks are finally educated on the utter foolishness of the global warming scam. What's extremely concerning is how the Star Bulletin supports legislation that would continue to ruin our nation's economy and wealth-creating capability. Shame on you Star Bulletin for taking such an incredibly irresponsible position.  (Jun 12, 2008 | post #26)

Military hits target for missile defense

I'm a Baby Boomer too and agree with Thom1's generalization of our wretched generation. Sure there are exceptions. But on a general basis, he's spot-on. The sooner we get out of the limelight, the better. Lets not forget our mantra: "Don't trust anyone over 30". "Hope I die before I get old" Yeah, talkin' bout my generation.  (Jun 6, 2008 | post #5)

State upholding public policy in Kahala beach access issue

Anyone that buys beachfront property knows there are risks to their land. They should also have the brains to know that beaches aren't static. But anyway, this is really the state's fault as they probably shouldn't have granted building permits anywhere near the shoreline. The islands would be 100x more beautiful if there open land makai kam/kal hwy.  (Jun 4, 2008 | post #13)

Panel to eye ConCon pros, cons

I'm continually amazed at the fear mongering and abhorrence of Change that comes from the predominantly Democratic Party in Hawaii. They will resort to just about anything to keep their supporters (i.e. Big Labor, Big Government, and Big Money groups)fat and happy. So I guess it's "Change We Can Believe in, unless we're the ones that need to Change", Right?  (Jun 2, 2008 | post #20)

Democrats ready for isle convention

Oh, this is rich. So lets keep running incompetent government as it is, right? Lets not give the people a chance to put forth real change. This is so comical. Democracts want "Change we can believe in", unless of course it means that Democrats have to change. Democrats regularly criticize Bush & Co for "Fear Mongering", yet the current rhetoric from the Hawaii Democrats on ConCon is fear mongering at its highest. Luckily, this time citizens have the Internet and the ConCon discussion has already started at http://www.hawaiic oncon.org where anyone can join and put forth their ideas whether left, right, black, white, haole, Native Hawaiian, gay or straight  (May 27, 2008 | post #25)
