Effingham Co. candidate qualifies for district seat

I have heard from different community members that Jesse Tyler is a life long conservative, and that he would be a new face in Atlanta. I believe that Effingham would benefit from his leadership.  (Oct 23, 2009 | post #2)

Thank You, I am tired of people talking about things that they don't even take the time to research, and come up with good arguments.  (Mar 8, 2009 | post #21)

How offensive, NO, I do not do drugs. If you are so bold to want the teachers to go through a drug test, then you need to get on the agenda and request it. Cause bring it on, you might be shocked.  (Mar 4, 2009 | post #12)

Yes, the supplement of 18,000 with a masters degree doesnt raise the salary. It decreases substantially.  (Mar 4, 2009 | post #11)

They are not raising the salary, if you would read the newspaper, or go to the board meetings. You would know that they are going to base the salary off of experience and education. Just like all the other principals.  (Mar 3, 2009 | post #8)

If you think all the teachers need to be drug tested, maybe you need to get on the agenda at Monday night's meeting, and speak your peace. Not complain over the internet because nothing is going to happen, and I believe any teacher would take a drug test to prove anybody wrong.  (Mar 3, 2009 | post #7)

I don't know where you get your sources but, that isn't at all what happened. They turned the old board room into a split office, and the prisoners built it. Not much money going into that.  (Mar 3, 2009 | post #6)

Chattooga County School Budget "90% Personnel"

That is exactly right. Cuts are gonna be made because the State us cutting money from our budget. If the people of Chattooga County would pay more attention to exactly what these teachers are doing and what they have gone through to get the salary they deserve. They wouldn't be rambling about the salary on a petty internet site!!!!!  (Feb 6, 2009 | post #15)

Ready for action. Then I will give a shove in the right direction. 1st: get on the city council agenda to adress the topic, make sure you facts to support your idea, and invite our representative, and make sure the commissioner and any other county delegates are there. 2nd, meet one on one with the council members and programs in the community (such as Family Connections, Health Department, Schools, SCHOOL BOARD).3rd: Look into the old buildings (North Summerville Elementary is a good choice) for a place to have a "teen center", or anything. Last: Get community involvement along with some students, and let the people know the concerns you have, but you have to have the community backing you. The community must show their concerns about the issue, and if you follow everything here, you dont get a response. Write a letter to the Summerville News, stir up an ant bed, and after that I don't know what else to tell you.  (Feb 4, 2009 | post #17)

The Soulution was made a few years ago. A committee was formed and our representative was there, but the issue didn't mean enough, and it was turned down. You see, the issue of a place to go for teens in the county has been an issue for at least 35 or more years.  (Feb 3, 2009 | post #11)

Iron Lotus is right. The county will not provide funding because the politcal powers of Chattooga don't see a hangout necessary. The county doesn't have the money to provide for a hangout, as well as the staffing, and the parental or community support. YMCA was a good suggestion, but they too will not come here, and Boys and Girls Club wont come because the county doesn't have the money to bring either one here. As JM IN Summerville stated that the churches are places to go is a good point, but the churches can't offer a place to stay everyday, and there is a great separation between the churches and the Young Adults or teens. Another point is that the SV Rec is a good place to go, but the Rec is geared towards the younger crowd from 8-14, and the issue is 13-18.  (Feb 2, 2009 | post #8)

I would like to hand it to you "oh shelia", that is a good comment. Too many of our students in Chattooga County are getting in trouble drinking and doing othe mischievous activities. The problem we run into, in Chattooga County, is there isn't any place or buisness to hang out. There isn't a movie theatre or bowling alley, or even a parking lot to go to. Another problem is, there aren't people in the community who would volunteer to keep up a recreation buisness, or the funding by the county to support one. I know back in the day there was the Walmart parking lot, but due to the ignorance of some teens the privledge of hanging there was taken away.  (Feb 2, 2009 | post #3)
