Firefighter who helped Easton shooting victim losing job ...

This is what happens when we elect a governor and legislature more interested in looting the public treasury for their corporate cronies than in providing the services that people pay for. Rest assured, Republican fat cats won't be seeing their take-home pay shrink any time soon.  (Feb 17, 2011 | post #14)

Kasich creates cabinet post for education | The Columbus ...

Oh, look, another overpaid white male in a new government position, created just for him. Sommers makes $110,000 a year while Kasich orders his agencies to cut the jobs of thousands of people making $40,000 a year. Remember, kids, Jesus wants you to vote Republican because racism is a "family value."  (Feb 8, 2011 | post #1)

Ohio PERS chief departing | The Columbus Dispatch

No surprise at all. He is a decent and honorable man who doesn't want to see the retirement system looted for fun and profit by John Kasich's Wall Street cronies. We will one day look back on November 2, 2010, as the day that Ohio citizens voted to legalize theft. Ironically, this legalized theft will be carried out by leaders of the political party which likes to tell everyone how they are such good Christians and "great Amurricans."  (Feb 7, 2011 | post #29)

OSU football: Recruit from Cleveland will not be charged ...

Awesome! He will fit right in with the rest of the Ohio State Thugeyes, yet another NCAA violation waiting to happen. Fans of "THE Ohio State" crack me up with your delusional belief in the moral superiority of your coach and the criminals you like to call football players. Everyone in the other 49 states thinks this program is national embarassment and that "THE Ohio State" is no different than the 1980s version of Miami Hurricanes, only with worse weather.  (Feb 7, 2011 | post #69)

Local judges get tough on foreclosure documents

I've never said anything about Dems being good, because they're not, but the GOP was in total power and set this up. Besides, the Democrats need to grow a spine and start investigating, indicting, and imprisoning the GOP elite who caused this crisis and have lined their own pockets at others expense. In short, the Dems need to stop kissing the GOP's rear end and start kicking it instead  (Feb 2, 2011 | post #69)

National signing day: No matter what, five new Buckeyes a...

The OSU recruiting pitch: come to Columbus, get a good record playing the Little Sisters Of The Poor, ESPN will hype you like you're the Second Coming, then get totally embarassed on the national stage when we play a good team. In the meantime, we have lots of people willing to give you stuff that you can always sell when you need to, not to mention the occasional hundred-dollar hand-shake. But it's OK, because the NFL scouts are living in the past as well. You'll get good coin as a third-round pick, but some UFA will make the team ahead of you.  (Feb 2, 2011 | post #1)

Editorial: Lighten the burden

Where was the Dispatch when 2 Republican Governors, 3 Republican House Speakers, and 3 Republican Senate Presidents went around thumbing their noses at the Supreme Court for over a decade? Four times they said that school funding in Ohio was unconstitutional and 4 times the GOP "leaders " said to the Supremes "go to hell." They made absolutely no changes to the system and actually made it worse in so many ways. When does anyone hold Republicans accountable for their criminal misdeeds? I am beginning to think that I should join the Republican Party and therefore I would be exempt from any consequences from any crimes I would commit.  (Jan 31, 2011 | post #1)

Local judges get tough on foreclosure documents

How about we get tough on the Republican Party which de-regulated and non-enforced our banking system into near-total collapse that could only be saved, allegedly, when a lame-duck Republican presiden't cronies suddenly needed hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars to subsidize their opulent lifestyles? When will anyone in the corporate media shine the light on the criminal enterprise that is the Republican Party?  (Jan 31, 2011 | post #28)

Looking back and forward 25 years after Challenger traged...

The Reagan Administration has blood on their hands over this (and a million other atrocities). They pushed for the launch, overrode the objections of nearly every scientist on the planet, to launch in freezing temperatures, all so Senile Ron could brag about this accomplishment and tout "the first teacher in space" in his State Of The Union address. Never mind that the Regan Administration (that's not a typo, if you know your history) was cutting funds for education and diverting them to defense and tax cuts for their millionaire cronies. The body count of Republican incompetence, negligence, and downright criminality should always include these seven Americans.  (Jan 28, 2011 | post #2)

Can we do it?

Yes We Can. Just do to the oil companies what they did to GM and Ford and build the necessary infrastructure through the new entitites. It works. Removing corporate executive greed from the calculus at GM and Ford through nationalization has made the two largest car companies in the US immensely more profitable while creating a safer and more fuel-efficient project. It's really simple. The GOP will squeal like the pigs that they are, but who cares? They've stood in the way of every other good idea in the past 100 years.  (Jan 27, 2011 | post #11)

Obama makes call for unity in State of Union address

As long as the corporate mafia and crime syndicate calling itself the Republican Party is allowed to operate in this country, our problems will never be solved. Its members will continue to send our jobs overseas and work to prevent our leaders from making the necessary investments in transportation, education, and electronic infrastrcture which would make this country more globally competitive. These same corporations sponsor the right-wing hate speech which seeks to divide us into different races and religions, which for many people, takes their attention off the real problems that the GOP and its members have caused. Obama needs to shut down the GOP as a criminal enterprise, which the RICO statutes allow him to do. Then and only then can our country heal.  (Jan 26, 2011 | post #28)

We can expect to see more and more tragedies such as this, as GOP de-regulators get back into power and repeatedly look the other way in the name of "providing jobs" when they really mean "allowing our corporate cronies to skirt their responsibilities in the name of greater profits."  (Jan 24, 2011 | post #21)

Yeah, uh, Mr. Niquette. It's still not on that website. I bet you feel really foolish now. Does the Kasich administration pay you to repeat their lies, or does the Wolfe family cover that in their bonuses????  (Jan 20, 2011 | post #183)

Brown blames speculators for rising oil prices | The Colu...

Speculators, hedge-fund operators, the oil companies themselves, the Middle Eastern oil magnates, etc, all know that they can do whatever they want now that the GOP is back in power in the House. The Republican Party does the oil companies' bidding, as many of its members are dependent on the oil industry for campaign contributions. It's really simple: oil always spikes whenever the GOP is controls ANY part of the Federal government because they like to blather about the "free market" and stand by idly while their corporate benefactors make out like pigs. Corporate greed always runs rampant when the GOP is in charge. That's why recessions only occur with Republican presidential administrations. That's also why wars always start with every Republican since Eisenhower. He made the GOP the party of war, the party that the defense weapons makers contribute heavily to. Yet, the American people keep letting the GOP back in power because they are gullible enough to believe that Republicans are such great Christians and care so much about national security. All the GOP cares about is facilitating corporate greed to line the pockets of multi-billionaires . If we set record gas-prices with yet another time with the GOP snout in the public trough, you all have no one to blame but yourselves.  (Jan 20, 2011 | post #1)

Kasich releases resumes of state job seekers | The Columb...

Wow, Dispatch, instead of swallowing Kasich's right-wing lies whole, you could do a little fact-checking yourself. I just went to www.fixohio.now and there is nothing, not even a mention, of any of these resumes. You guys were totally fooled, once again, by this cabal masquerading as a legitimate government.  (Jan 20, 2011 | post #58)
