anyone off effexor xr 150mg for 2+ months?

any anxiety symptoms? i have tapered from 150mg to 75mg over about a 6 month period. i have been on 75mg for about 2-3 months now and am NOW experiencing anxiety (i.e. light headedness, inability to concentrate, jittery, panicky). it has been about 6 days now so I went to the dr and he said to go straight to 150mg. GETTING OFF EFFEXOR, Here is the Cure to Withdrawl!

I haven't posted since Oct 07, so I wanted to give an update. I was on 150mg for 10yrs. I am doing the bead method by taking out 10/wk. Today I am officially 1/2-way done. It's been about 6 months. I only had 3 or 4 days where I had w/drawal symptoms. The symptoms I had, had to do w/ balance. It would feel like the floor wasn't there when I was walking and very brief brain zaps. It lasted several hours. The past few days I have felt very 'foggy' headed/lack of concentration so I may take the last 1/2 more slowly.  (Feb 28, 2008 | post #41)

"Is my brain no longer able to produce serotonin and norepinephrine b/c effexor has been doing it for me for 5 years?" that's a good ?. to answer your first question, i had problems mentally. i had a lot of paranoia that i was going crazy/racing thoughts. i haven't found anyone yet who went thru what i did mentally. it also happened weeks after i was off the effexor.  (Nov 19, 2007 | post #1378)

shawne-mine got really, really bad. i had to go back on it and it took over a month to restabilize. that was 4 years ago though, and i'm now weaning off by removing beads, not by dosage drops that the drs tell you to do. i'm on wk 10 now and have only had 2 days of symptoms during wk 9.  (Nov 17, 2007 | post #1362)

ezin- when you talk about reducing by 10%, do you mean to reduce it and not reduce it again until you feel fine on the 10% decrease? how long is it typically? how do you reduce by 10% w/ the capsules? by counting beads and figuring out what 10% of them is?  (Nov 16, 2007 | post #4)

ezin- i've been taking the beads out of my 150mg. i'm half into the week of taking out 90 beads and yesterday was the first day i had a single w/drawal symptom. i can't believe how horrible the w/drawal is w/out having any prior symptoms. i had the brain zaps, body aches, needing to use the bathroom, and heart palpitations. i hate those brain zaps!!!!that was from taking 90 out, out of a total of 500!! idk what to do now because i have to be able to work and i can't work like this. today i didn't have brain zaps but my knees were sore for some reason and my balance kept getting messed up. at one point i had to completely stop walking and lean on a wall. not sure what to do now. and now i'm really light headed and my head is all cloudy.  (Nov 13, 2007 | post #37)
