Suspect in Jail Attack A No-Show in Court

LOL there is a first appearance(in front of a Judge) at the jails the morning after these criminals get arrested. But people still need a courthouse for other things. Maybe they were let out on bail and their new courtdate with all the lawyers, and defendants (people who dont deserve to be subjected to the mass of inmates at the jail) will have to go have their case heard. Yes $400 million is extreme for a courthouse but why should a defendant that gets raped have to sit in a jail to defend her case with all the other riff raff thats there? Use your noggin~  (Apr 18, 2008 | post #26)

Florida - Birth Battle: Couple Says Surrogate Mom Won't G...

Your reasoning is that all mothers who put their child up for adoption or plan to surrogate is because they are poor. Thats not a good way to generalize. There are plenty of mothers that put their children up for adoption simply because THEY DONT WANT THE BABY. So no matter if someone "sponsored " the child or not, if a mother doesnt WANT her baby the child is in much more danger STAYING with her rather than having angst about where she/he came from. Speaking of thinking outside the box.. take your own advice.  (Aug 12, 2007 | post #98)

Local News - Dogwood Park up for Sale

They are pricey but it was a great place to take your dog to get him/her to socialize with other dogs and let him/her roam free leashless for awhile. In apartments, you cant really do that.  (Aug 9, 2007 | post #2)

Crime Stoppers - Police Searching For Missing 77-Year-Old...

It's not safe to open your doors to people anymore and show compassion. You hear tons of stories daily about someone showing compassion and it ending up in a robbery, death, severe injuries. Nancy, its just NOT safe, especially in Jacksonville. I don't care how old the man was, you don't have to be young to carry a gun or slit someones throat. My family comes first so if I have to turn someone away, for their safety, so be it.  (Aug 9, 2007 | post #8)

Strange & Unusual - Child Forced to Urinate on Bus

Personally that would be great for the kids! Unfortunately can you see how the multitude of homeowners would act if they were told their taxes are going up to install accommodations on all the school buses. Then the people would be complaining cause its only a short ride for most and they(the children)should do it before/after they get off the bus. Think about it really. There are laws that say as we drive our cars we MUST wear seat belts, its the law, its for our safety, yet, where are the seat belts on the bus that takes our children back and forth to school twice a day, 5 days out of the week? Thats not including the field trips where they can travel on interstates to get to where they are going far away from home. That would be where they needed to start things off. Safety ahead of accommodations.  (Aug 9, 2007 | post #53)

Local News - After Couple Weds in Court, Judge Sentences ...

If that is so , that you got married in the courthouse here, then you are well aware it was a deputy clerk that married you and not a judge, there are no court reporters or bailiffs for a wedding ceremony. Also, if you were listing all those other people as "how much is this gonna cost taxpayers" because of the wedding, that didn't happen and actually to get the clerk to wed you, there is a $30 fee. The man was already in court for his crime, along with plenty others that day I am sure, so no.. This wedding that took place (which is what we were talking about, focus dear) did NOT cost the taxpayers any extra money.  (Aug 9, 2007 | post #16)

The article said the cake and champagne was donated. How did this cost taxpayers anything? Rest assured, they had to pay for their marriage license. They didn't get this for free.  (Aug 9, 2007 | post #13)

Local News - Carjacker Holds Three Teenage Girls at Gunpoint

When people start disciplining their kids from toddlers and hold a firm grip on discipline throughout their life, it will stop. When spanking(not beating) your child isn't seen by the masses as child abuse, it will stop. When people quit being so self absorbed that they dont call these kids out, snatch them up and take them to their parents for discipline when they get in trouble and the child fear the reprecussions, it will stop. I don't ever see this happening though and until it does, this is our end result. Thats why we have an America the way we do right now. Everyone is concerned more about what flippant lawsuit is going to come their way if they meddle. I remember growing up that if anyone in my neighborhood saw one of us kids doing wrong, they wouldn't look away and go back to their own business, they would march us directly to our parents , who would in turn discipline us. Not so anymore, people don't care, or they are afraid if they do something they will be held liable cause someone will find some reason to "sue" over anything. The parents also, feel they cant discipline anymore cause of it being called child abuse so they let their kids run amuk and they have no control over them. You have to start at the root of this problem for there to be any change in the future.  (Aug 9, 2007 | post #2)

Top Stories - Puppies Found on Brink of Death

More and more you hear stories about people neglecting or abusing their animals. Its a sad world we live in where you can treat another living creature the way these people are treating what are supposed to be their "pets". I hope we can get stiffer penalties for people who abuse animals.  (Aug 9, 2007 | post #7)
