Who is the best candidate for Sheriff?

THE hidden Agenda here is what can be done about the abuse of the river itself, but mostly the impact the abuse has on the local pop.And how to keep the tourist comming, and behavin themselves.I agree the Resort owners have put there B.S.&tears into there buss. I for one respect that. But even they need to figure out how to protect Buss. as usual.Like how can they prevent intoxicated drivers from leaving there resorts and driving on the local highways? And the lewd behavior like exposing there Genitalia, like in "Girls gone wild .I also have witnessed "Boys jumping in and exposing ;they call it wind mills they twirl there weineys and believe me NO one wants to see ThAt!Also how to prevent trash ending up in the river.I have done some diving in the river.I was surprised to see a lot of alluminum cans, and ALOT of towels, also cigarette butts.I dont know what impact that would have .Go ahead laugh it is kinda funny.I also noticed when I had done a canoe trip our towels were soaked.Maybe mention to the tourist maybe a small hand towel in a water tight bag would suffice. They are not going to the beach. When you have as many people who have come to the river over the years you have many people looking at it,I for one use to hear from campers at the resorts there concern for the rivers wellbeing. So again the "Genie has been out of the bottle for a while now.Not by Californias that have moved here.As so many of u know our plight it has been solved,we live in front of a private road. The resort has its own nice road go straight through next to there sign it is called 'River side rd. I believe. As for sheriffs dept. not comming around these parts I remember Scott Halloway, was in this area quite alot when he was employed by the sheriffs dept.So Im guessin that if we want help around here we better vote for Halloway!  (Mar 5, 2008 | post #22)

they are in my prayers

There are reports of extensive tornado damage in the Ash Flat, Hardy and Highland communities in Sharp and Independence counties. Authorities say many homes have been flattened and some businesses destroyed. Highland High School is being used as a command center. Highways 62 and 167 are blocked by debris. Ham radio operators in the area say officials in Highland have called for help from the nearby cities of Ash Flat and Hardy because they cannot contact their own dispatch office. Several injuries have been reported in the Highland area.  (Feb 5, 2008 | post #1)

Thayer or Mammoth?

I have been here six years, and at first I thought that some of the shop owners and business people were really like cold. At first I took it personally, then I found out that they were just that way toward all their customers. Some of the help in the local supermarkets I swear their faces would break if they smiled. I have learned to spend my money where I get that little extra courtesy of a smile and thank you. As far as being accepted, I ain't from around here so I might as well suck eggs. I have been to several Church suppers at my Church, but not one member has asked me to go fishing, or had me over to supper. So what. I guess I have not asked them either. I wouldn't call you a friend until I sat down and broke bread at your table and likewise. I did not move here for friendship. I moved here for the fresh air and scenery, and to get a way from Mexicans. I may not be from around here but after six years I ain't going nowhere else. Its funny that a lot of the would be Christians would befriend a stray dog faster than they would accept an outsider. So be it, not for me to judge.  (Jan 24, 2008 | post #3)

summers coming

Looks like the economy is getting ready to maybe crumble. This may spell disaster for some of the local businesses. If I may be so bold as to make a suggestion, here is what I would suggest: Stay home and spend your money in and around Mammoth Spring. There are a lot of great campgrounds, a state park and plenty of nice places to eat right here. The antique shops, and the flea markets would love to see more locals. No matter where you go, there is no place quite like home, and in the case of Mammoth Spring, no place as pretty. Mammoth Spring has always been here for you. this year she would really humbly appreciate you being here for her. If possible invite friends or relatives out for a few days, and show them around. If your home is to small, have them stay at a local motel, or campground, or at the local bed and breakfast. In the long haul you will have just as much fun and no doubt save some money.  (Jan 23, 2008 | post #1)

To Brian Sanderson

I know Mr.Brian Sanderson, and to tag his name as unscrupulous is a bunch of baloney. He is extremely ethical, and a real solid family man.  (Jan 19, 2008 | post #3)

The only point you have is on the top of your head. I have a hard life also, but that does not allow me to break the law. WHAT PART OF BREAK THE LAW DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND? Try translating this into Spanish: Illegal aliens are breaking the laws of the united States. Please type it below and post it for all illegals to see. Just in case no one told them. If they read it here in Spanish maybe they will finally understand. I think that all illegals caught in this country should be brought before a jury. Then we would have a right to judge them. The penalty 4 1st offense would be deportation. The second offense would be 5 yrs in forced labor.  (Jan 19, 2008 | post #36)

Concerning the River Bend R.V. Park, taken from the Thayer Mo. Topix What the latest on the park? Has the EPA still got it closed and is it still going to be sold. Now Neighbor, the part about the EPA and the River Bend was news to me till yesterday. I think it is a bellwether. I am not trying to shut the river down, I am trying to keep it from happening. As far as where you are from and where you went to school, Big F'n Deal. Grow up cause the game is a lot more serious than that crap. By the way 68 people think that the bridge at the mouth of Big Creek is blocking access from The Spring River, while four say it is not. That is not a lot of people but it is enough to be statistically correct. I never said to stop all activity at dam three. People could still swim, fish, or tube. Just stop dumping thousands of non native fish, and launching hundreds of canoes a week there in the summer time. I am telling you that if you think that the loss of a species like the hellbender is not serious, think again. What it does is put every one's right to use the river in jeopardy. If you took the time to read this entire forum and the polls, instead of jumping up every five minutes to tell yourself how important it is to be from around here, versus, what is really happening on the river, then maybe you would see things differently. I only see one motel in Mammoth, one tire shop, about six restaurants. They employ maybe twenty people, out of the two thousand people or so that live in the Mammoth zip code. I like everyone of those businesses. I do not want to see them hurt. If the EPA shuts it down we will all suffer. The plan I put forth is just a suggestion. If you have a better one let's hear it. I think a lot of us would love to hear something from young people besides: If you ain;t from around here==== Bear down Neighbor, put some thought into it. Come up with an idea with attitude, not just another attitude without an idea.  (Jan 18, 2008 | post #6)
