Educational System Improvement

I agree to a certain extent. I believe that the core subjects like math and science are taught because they are always required for schooling in high school and in college, and so schools need to teach basics in these classes to prepare students for what they will learn later. I don't think that enough emphasis is placed on the creative side of learning. I think that students like different things. I am now an advertising major and there were no previous subjects in school that would even compare to what I am learning in college. Students don't have enough applicable real world skills taught to them. When I got to college I had freedom of choice to pick whatever I wanted to do. A lot was self taught like photoshop and how to use different types of technology. If students were able to have more freedom of choice elective wise to find out what their true passion is whether it is culinary, advertising, marketing, teaching they would be more productive citizens who have been exposed to enough things to have a better idea of what they can do and what they like.  (Feb 5, 2014 | post #3)
