Cops and Courts: Nov. 10, 2010

"He was arrested on suspicion of evading arrest, driving under the influence, driving with a restricted license and drug possession, and for an outstanding warrant, police said." Is it correct to use the word "and" twice in one sentence like our wonderful reporters/journali sts have?  (Nov 10, 2010 | post #8)

Santa Cruz City Councilman Tony Madrigal skips first meet...

It appears as the scale has tipped to the point of no return. I bet ya T.M. will not be living in S.C too much longer. I'll tell him to bail if I see him around town.  (Oct 27, 2010 | post #31)

Santa Cruz County unemployment at 11.4 percent as jobless...

I would think that the reason 11 of 12 industries are posting more jobs online is because they are becoming more technology oriented. It also can be viewed as a way to cut costs instead of paying a recruiting company. From what I have noticed getting a job online is like playing the lottery. I would rather get off my butt and go meet the people and see the company I would work for.  (Aug 21, 2010 | post #10)

Is the SCPD effectively ousting Meth from our neighborhoods?

Are the police able to end meth use? Do they have the resources to fight it at the root cause? How many meth addicts do not use because of the fear of the police? End the drug war and let people make their own decisions on what they should do or not do with their own bodies. Local police with NEVER end the meth problem, and thats a fact.  (Aug 20, 2010 | post #45)

Watsonville cited for failure to fluoridate: State health...

Go do some real research. It's not the same flouride that is in toothpaste. It is harmful to our bodies.  (Aug 20, 2010 | post #59)

You cannot expect law enforcement to irradicate a serious problem like meth. The meth wave is too deep for something like local law enforcement to fix.  (Aug 20, 2010 | post #42)

Santa Cruz police light up camping protest with floodlights

Nice one, so in Beckyland its safer if an area that has had felons arrested recently is in total darkness. I have to disagree B, the lights provide safety to people, especially from whats documented of the class of people that are attending the protest.  (Aug 20, 2010 | post #137)

Good idea! While they are all bathing in public, tickets can be issued. Lets see how long they continue to be lazy, uninformed, slackers.  (Aug 20, 2010 | post #136)

'Cannibal' band member Richard Lopez dies at 65

I am a person in Santa Cruz and my attitude is 180 degrees from your statement. In seaside do you talk to a lot of people from Santa Cruz that have that attitude? I don't believe you, keep your mouth shut!  (Aug 20, 2010 | post #62)

Seems like Gettleman had alterior motives with this case. I would think if he was truly passionate about this case an appeal would be filed. One for the good guys. Permanent injuction doesn't seem so harsh, am I missing something?  (Aug 20, 2010 | post #58)

What about "Blinded by the Light" for a song to compliment the flood lights?  (Aug 19, 2010 | post #41)

U.S. Open: Santa Cruz County's godfather of disc golf pic...

Tomorrow will be the first annual Golf Disc Golf Open. Come show some support! The first round will be tomorrow at Delaveaga Golf course @ 7:30 a.m. After a lunch we will then head up to the disc golf course for the disc golf round. The winner will be the player with the lowest combined strokes. Ideally this tournament will be played on the summer solstice.  (Jun 20, 2010 | post #2)

David Pepper: Burning wood for home heating is hazardous ...

Climate change... it was only a matter of time before that would be brought up. Just watch it then becomes illegal to teach one how to build a fire. It will then become a recipe in the anarchists cookbook. Joking of course. Hopefully better technologies are invented that make it so we don't need to have fires at home for heat. Don't fix what isn't broken.  (Jun 1, 2010 | post #77)
