Many in Michigan mad at collapse of auto bailout

Since they have begun all the lay offs in the Auto Industry as well as transferring supply jobs, assembly etc. to other countries imagine the surprise on their face when the cars they are making are not selling. You lay off workers with an agreement with the UAW, the other employers in the area let people go, etc., etc., etc. and on and on and on. I am shocked that after the bail out of the banking/insurance industry and the monies were not being used for what was intended that they would even want to bail out another business that has no plans on changing its employment/sales strategies. Government wants to help reduce the EPA and Safety requirements a tad, force them to stop shipping jobs overseas, make the banks lower the credit standards after getting 700 Billion dollars in relief from those who cannot afford to put money in the bank or buy new cars.  (Dec 13, 2008 | post #7)

Water shut down after main break

Many areas might want to get used to this as in many communities the pipes are at the end of their expected life cycle.  (Dec 13, 2008 | post #2)

Look Who's Busted - resource or wrong?

And what of those Christian Drunk Drivers? Just because someone goes to church and reads the bible doesn't allow them for more privacy than others. All the information posted in the newsletter is available online for public viewing.  (Dec 13, 2008 | post #36)

Look Who's Busted - resource or wrong?

Maybe some of those 20 time drunk drivers will finally get the message and be refused service somewhere for the sake of others with this out there. You break the law you have the right to be humiliated just like the rest of us.  (Dec 13, 2008 | post #19)

What do you think of GM retiree's loosing medical in Janu...

I think that those in the Union or supporting Unions might want to pay attention. When they retire this will probably happen to them to. It happened in my family the union gave my father great health-care after taking early retirement to only have it cut away by the new contract signed by the workers who are paying dues now. All he was told by the union was "there is nothing we can do for you." after over 20 years of paying dues and being loyal to his union that is how they thanked him.  (Dec 13, 2008 | post #390)

Treasury ready to prevent auto collapse

There is no doubt that our economy is being held hostage by the credit system in place which is how our entire economy is based loosely upon. As long as those who with "good credit" are unable to get financing those below them will not either. 700 reasons for the banks to loan out the money but they are using it to buy up smaller banks instead or visiting Half Moon Bay. Status Quo will continue as long as the cavernous hole between those who have and those who have not is so far apart.  (Dec 13, 2008 | post #89)

Granholm: autos 'skewered' by GOP Sens

All Big 3 are looking either way to use the UAW to screw retired workers out of pension funds/health plans but, we should bail them out. If this was any other company the government would probably let them go under without even thinking about helping them. The Big 3 were going to lay off more US Workers regardless of the bail out or not but, you don't hear Granholm or the Union mentioning those issues now do you? If the Government wanted to bail them out then stop trying to cram pork on the end of the barrel and just approve a bail out those who cannot afford to buy the vehicles in the first place will be forced to pay for. Maybe then they can take a trip to Half Moon Bay too and not pay their stock company bills either. AIG ring a bell anyone?  (Dec 13, 2008 | post #34)

Treasury ready to prevent auto collapse

Let's bail them out then maybe give them another tax break to ship jobs to Mexico or cut more workers from the payroll. That will lower costs it will never sell more vehicles.  (Dec 13, 2008 | post #87)
