if you fight with lexapro you will definitely damage your soul. you either have to accept it and let it do it's magic or don't take it. remember, it takes about a month to really start getting the benefits. i go off and on lexapro as needed. i tend to need it sometimes for extended periods of time. 3-6 months. then , i get this smothering feeling and have to get it out of me. but i'm serious about doing damage to your soul.  (Nov 23, 2008 | post #70)

My story

you will return to your former self. possibly a little better off and wiser. i say that because you will be more aware of the things you didn't sweat when on Lex. so, hopefully ,when you are off them keep that in your mind and say it's all in my head and it doesn't mean squat. hard sometimes. lex wore off on my after 8 weeks. dam shame. worked awesome. but I became short tempered and wired with stress. very odd.  (Jun 25, 2008 | post #2)

Can Lexapro stop working after one month?

i take 5mg. you take a low so i would so you are more prone to taking some hits when you have a bad day. you are going to have those every once in awhile on that dose. but if you can get away with taking 2.5 then that's great. i take 5mg and yes I do have bad days but on average 90% of my days are good. this drug is dose dependent and it's not a total shield from emotional bumps in the road. you have to get down sometimes. it's a safety valve. otherwise you will become a mental vegetable.  (May 23, 2008 | post #3)

been on it and off for 3 years. 5 mg/day. it's ok. but it makes me sleepy. also makes me somewhat lethargic about doing things. i have to go off it for about 2 months after i have been on it for about 6. it stops working for me and i have to get it out of my system and start again. it's whacked.  (Apr 17, 2008 | post #45)

i have been on lex 5 MG for over a year. the initial euphoria you get in the first 4-5 months is gone. it maintains my ocd and anxiety pretty good. but I have found that I tend to get moody more often. not anxious. but just not wanting to have anything to do with anybody. also, since the beginning it makes me sleepy. but then again I sleep awesome. i have tried to get off it but that is practically impossible right now.  (Apr 11, 2008 | post #8)

i am a guy so i don't know if my metabolism experience counts towards women. i went off lex 4 months ago and have been a miserable grouch ever since. i also gained weight. i went from 155 to 165 in 4 months. for me, when i'm on lex i am able to control my eating urges. i think the people that gain weight on this drug come to this board and others to complain. so you get a distorted view. you have to watch what you eat on or off i have found. i don't think the drug makes a difference. the drug may make you feel better and when that happens we tend to enjoy ourselves more. you quitting smoking is big time.  (Sep 18, 2007 | post #98)
