Incorrect. We do not have a simple "majority rules" government in this county. We have a constitution that protects us from things like religious zealots doing whatever they what, whenever they want. You are also incorrect about it not affecting people who aren't from Jackson. This is a constitutional issue, therefore it affects everyone. (Feb 25, 2013 | post #132)

ACL who wrote: <quoted text>I think it's sad when you look at all the things that happen in schools today, that we should be having argument over a picture of the most peaceful person to ever walk on this earth being hung in school. I for one think we could use a little peace in our schools. We name our schools after people like Martin Luther king and we all know he was a Christian, ACLU doesn't want to take his name out of schools or have his pictures removed. MLK and JC taught a lot of same things they taught things they were both killed for speaking the absolute truth, yet some people embrace one and hate the other?--- I certainly don’t hate JC, I also don’t hate the easter bunny, or the tooth fairy. It’s difficult to hate an imaginary being. That’s not the issue here though. The issue is about whether or not what the school is doing is a violation of the constitution. Wellston man wrote: <quoted text>MLK believed it, I believe it, a large majority of jackson co believes it,a majority of Americans believe it.----- I’ll try to hide my shock that a conservative Christian doesn’t understand the constitution or the doctrine of the separation of church and state. Its purpose is largely to prevent attitudes like yours from being the law of the land. I would also argue that a majority of Americans don’t REALLY believe it. Lots of people who say they’re “Christians”, and who say they believe Jesus Christ really existed, are merely following the heard. (Feb 20, 2013 | post #121)

I can't help but wonder how many "small government" conservatives in the area are ok with the school board wasting tax-payer money over something so trivial. The emotion in the superintendent when he talks about it is the clearest give-away that the picture is there to suggest the school's support of Christianity. It is reminiscent of the Kitzmiller v. Dover Area School District case. That case was about teaching "intelligent design", and part of the judge's ruling was that the way they fought to be allowed to teach ID clearly proved that ID had a religious bent to it. It is sad that "professional educators" can be so ignorant that they are convinced just because they think they're allowed to do something, then they are. (Feb 19, 2013 | post #109)
My cousin tattoos in his bathroom with needles he makes from supplies he gets at walmart. He'll do you an awesome tattoo for a case of Natty Light and a carton of smokes. (Feb 17, 2013 | post #2)
Discussing hell with young children
As a parent I think it's a good compromise to take your children to church somewhere low key(somewhere that's not all fire and brimstone), while teaching them yourself that they are free to believe in whatever they want to. That way children get the positive socialization aspect of a local church without all the baggage. If a current or potential employer questions your religious choice, or lack of it, they are violating federal law for which they should be reported. If a cop plans to treat me differently because of my religious affiliation then he's a a$$hole, and I don't really care what he thinks about me. (Jan 4, 2013 | post #47)

Tattoo shop with Art degree artist
All excellent answers. It sounds like you know what you're doing. I'm certainly interested to see a good female tattoo artist take hold in the area. (Nov 8, 2012 | post #10)
Tattoo shop with Art degree artist
You can be a successful tattoo artist with a degree in underwater basket weaving if you’re a good tattoo artist. You can also be a total failure as a tattoo artist with a degree in art, if you’re not a good tattoo artist. I’m completely cool with a female artist with and art degree, if you can tattoo. If you’re looking for an apprenticeship I have a few more questions. 1: Is your portfolio all drawings/paintings , or have you done any tattooing? 2: Are you capable of taking harsh criticism? 3: Do you have many tattoos? 4: Are you trying to let your work speak for itself, or are you going to try to get in the door with your tits? Read this. This dude is the real deal. http://www.tattoos nob.com/2012/11/02 /brandon-collins-s o-you-wanna-be-a-t attoo-artist/ (Nov 8, 2012 | post #7)

I need a cheap tattoo thats GOOD.
Who was it you used to go to that moved? I'm curious because to give somebody a decent recommendation it really helps to know where they set the bar at. (Sep 2, 2012 | post #13)
is there a clean tattoo place in this area?
There are lots of clean places to get a tattoo...Bad Buddha, Bloodline, Tat-Nice etc. Cleanliness is a basic thing for reputable tattoo artists. Something that looks like an operating room is a bit unnecessary though. Keep in mind people tattoo at conventions in big open areas with lots of other people tattooing too without any issues. My concern would be with getting a quality tattoo I can be proud of for years to come. For some reference check out some well respected artists. Chad Koeplinger, Myke Chambers, Durb Morrison, Kore Flatmo and Roman Abrego would make a good starting point. Compare the work you see by local people to these guys. Top three in the immediate area would be Billy Beans, Teddy McBee and Matt Hays. If you're willing to drive a few hours, and you're not a cheapo, then there are even more options. Durb Morrison, Kore Flatmo and Matty Mctatty are all within 3 hours drive(Columbus, Cincy and Dayton respectively). Sorry about the long rant... just my 2 cents. (Aug 30, 2012 | post #6)
I'm trying to start a tattoo blog for the tri-state. Hopefully it will be a place for good discussion, and a way for people in the area to see what's out there. Please come by, check it out, and leave your comments. http://tristatetat tooblog.blogspot.c om/2012/08/intro.h tml (Aug 26, 2012 | post #1)
