Thanks you guys! You're great! And i haven't had an out of state vacation in YEARS!! Sorry posas, sorry hotel albuquerque, sorry alsups... I'm going to be spending MY money elsewhere.  (Jan 14, 2011 | post #23)

And of course you all realize this humming and hawing has already cost us (the state) a 50 million dollar project and the 100+ million dollar project that was going to be in the state for over a year is now on hold. Nice! I'll just stay on unemployment longer, and since nObama extended my benefits? Heck. I might as well just stay home and join in on your choir, chorale, or chorus... nObamas in! Martinez is in! and i'm getting PAIED!! YEA! oh, and thank all of YOU for my generous benefit package. I think i'll take your state money and spend it in LA. You know. stay in a LA hotel, eat LA food, pay LA sales taxes... Just forward me my check and thank you all for it!  (Jan 14, 2011 | post #20)

You people are really out of touch with what the film industry does for laborers in new mexico. First of all, the film union in NM has the same pay scales as LA. Second, the simplistic "break even" you are looking for doesn't easily lend itself, because of all the outside money coming into the state and being disbursed as oh, i dunno... payroll, for one. New mexican's being paid by interests from out of state so that they can do things like.... oh, pay their electric bills. buy groceries, pay their property taxes. And we have all heard the discussion about the impact on things like restaurants, hotels, gasoline... but you all don't want to hear that. The idea that the film industry is corrupt? How corrupt do you think politics is? You have this idealic dream that all corruption in politics will disappear if you kick the film industry out, but what's really going to happen is that thousands of New Mexicans will be put on public assistance. Yeah, feel better about that. You will be paying my light bill instead of dreamworks paying my light bill. Thank you for that. Because now i will get a check, thanks to your generosity, for sitting on my but. Oh, and if you think that there aren't state subsidies being funneled into oil and gas and mineral exploration? And agribusiness? You're hallucinating. The film industry is at this point the 4th largest industry in the state. Minerals, agriculture and dairy, tourism, and film. I got an idea, while were at it and since we seem to be so afraid of outside interests, lets outlaw the tourism industry. I don't like the way they drive and they annoy me with their irritating accents and foreign languages.  (Jan 14, 2011 | post #19)

Jury set to mull Fierro case for third day

Luckily for your embarrassment and mine, this story hasn't gone national yet... New Mexico is already the laughing stock of the rest of the country in so many ways...  (Oct 1, 2009 | post #59)

Jury set to mull Fierro case for third day

The writing has been on the wall on this case since the beginning. Who else has ever been locked up in the drunk tank with their cell phones? Who else has ever been arrested for dwi where the case was never prosecuted? Who else has ever successfully argued that the victim, a pedestrian walking across a street with a 20 mph speed limit, was a "substantial contributor" to his own death? Yes. The victim is obviously guilty of being hit by a drunk LAWYER. The DA's office so badly handled this case, they all need to be tossed into the RGR. Off the RGB. Only in New Mexico. It's the way wee doo et. "New Mexico. Not much different than the old one".  (Oct 1, 2009 | post #58)

Domestic partnerships back on agenda

"In February, a domestic partnership bill failed on a 17-25 vote in the Senate. In that vote, 10 of the 27 Democrats in the Senate joined all 15 Republicans in opposition" Why are we doing this again so soon??  (Sep 30, 2009 | post #69)

Preventing suicide by design

Well, at least we won't have to worry about the bridge being a tourist attraction anymore. Heck, i feel that if you're suicidal, what better place to jump than the rio grande bridge. But, our overprotective do gooder parents are here to protect us from ourselves again, by spending big bucks to solve a non-problem. So, all you suicidal types planning on jumping from the bridge remember, bring your fence cutters! I'm sure those "three people per year" can find another way to do themselves in. for which case, i propose we wrap everything in bubble wrap.  (Sep 29, 2009 | post #22)

Families waiting for developmental disabilities services ...

Actually, the money was already earmarked for this purpose and voted on by us and approved. This is why I never ever vote for government to spend money. They can't be responsible enough and It is never used for it's intended purposes. School bonds, a new fire house, improved 911 service, etc... we foolishly vote to approve funding for these things yet the recipients never ever get it... VOTE NO!! Oh, and btw, your conservative state of Colorado is NOT broke. Only and mostly liberal states, such as Illinois, michigan, cali, and New Mexico are broke. Not Co, OK, TX... wonder why?  (Sep 28, 2009 | post #22)

No, no, no... You don't understand the difference between a budget and "capital outlay". Duh! These projects don't require money to be done! They are done with "capital outlay". Now do you understand? It's okay, it'll be alright. Go drink your cool-aid.  (Sep 24, 2009 | post #12)
