Southwest Airlines CEO calls FAA's threat of fine unfair
got to love capitalism....if it is not your airline going under it will be mine. I hate to see someone struggle but if it between me an you. You on your own. Blame your management for creating an environment which you can't operate....blame deregulation....blame who ever you want. Nobody twisted your arm to work there and you are free to leave when you want....quit your crying....fix your company or quit the complaining about your choice. (Mar 11, 2008 | post #38)

Southwest Airlines CEO calls FAA's threat of fine unfair
Well, I am a pilot here at SWA. Give it a little time and all the info will become public knowledge. SWA is a very safe airline and the pilots take that very seriously. If there was ever any doubt of a safety of flight item, we would ground the aircraft. Please refrain from assuming negative ideas about the company based on "news" that you hear or read. I think we all know how the media can spin things. Safe flying. (Mar 8, 2008 | post #14)

He is well within limits. He picks trips with a lot of deadhead time which will get paid for and takes his 1 in seven days off. He works the system very well. (Oct 5, 2007 | post #53)

Trust me I did not believe it myself. I flew with him and asked him how he did it. He showed me the W2. He is well known in the company. He averaged only about 5-6 days off a month and ends up getting almost all his trips a time and a half. It can be done but you have no life at home. Figure his basic credit rate is $173 TFP which equates to approx $198 per hour. Now figure he averaged around 170 credits per month. you do the math. Trust me I would love that money but I like the time with my family so 5-6 days off a month won't cut it with the boss. (Oct 5, 2007 | post #48)
