Actually, Jesse did run in 84 and 88, I believe. I think Al has run too. And Keyes is running now. All 3 are black and I don't recall Powell endorsing either of them. So, no, my little theory is just fine.  (Oct 23, 2008 | post #118)

I doubt he would have supported Alan Keyes, or Jesse Jackson, or Al Sharpton. If race were the deciding factor, he would have been in their camps too.  (Oct 22, 2008 | post #57)

First of all, Colin Powell was not GIVEN power and position -- he EARNED it. Secondly, if you think Colin Powell cannot be trusted -- fine. But what does race have to with it? If you distrust one white man do you then distrust all of them? I doubt it. So why apply that line of thinking to black men?  (Oct 22, 2008 | post #55)

3 jeers: Ticked off!

It must really suck to be you -- worried and angry everywhere you turn because so many blacks and Hispanics are living life and doing well. We are not going away, and we're not trying to stop you from living life and doing well, too. Quit complaining and go to work, raise your kids, go to the beach, worship your God -- live life, man. It's too short to keep whining.  (Jun 26, 2008 | post #39)

If you want to move to a neglected neighborhood populated by poor and elderly whites and be a catalyst for change there, get packing and move on. Why would anybody "scream foul"? And if they did, why would you care? Seems to me, you don't really want to do anything positive... you just want to complain about others who are doing something positive.  (May 26, 2008 | post #12)

I'm more concerned about the number of students who cheated. What happened to accepting an assignment and then following through, being true to your commitment? Unless the assignment was defined as "optional, " I think the cheating is greater shame here.  (Apr 21, 2008 | post #29)

Much is being made of the story already. It has been on TV and in the papers, and people are commenting about it here. Being black does not give protection from scrutiny. How odd that you would think otherwise.  (Mar 19, 2008 | post #86)
