President Obama took a picture and the Internet went crazy

well, you know, the selfie, the attending a memorial for a communist loving dictator...just a couple of things that scream "idiot" about this president.  (Dec 10, 2013 | post #1)

Secession is a costly concept

Dear, the Tea Party is simply fighting the powers that be for their freedom, individual liberty and constitutional law. We don't want to destroy anything except progressivism, which is what is hurting your state and others as well. We want people to be held accountable for trampling our rights and breaking the law. Please look further into the TP before judging us all as the liberal media sloths have done. They couldn't be more wrong.  (Nov 8, 2013 | post #8)

Local education takes a hit at the polls

It was a good day for students! How can any legislative body ask parents and citizens to support a BILLION DOLLAR DEBT that will ultimately fall on the backs of the kids when they graduate?! It's the students that will ultimately pay for this boondoggle. It's the students that will be responsible for paying a debt that really would have no effect on the education of students but more for the administrative body of the state's education system. With all of the horrible results of this past election, all over this country, I look at Colorado's results and I breathe a sigh of relief that there are people somewhere in this country that aren't just brain dead to what debt means and will do to this country, our states and our local municipalities. I cheered Colorado for this decision and I cheered for the kids who were the real winners in all of this. School districts and state legislators and administrators of these districts MUST make cuts - and there are places to make these cuts in the budgets! Enough is enough. Bravo, Colorado! Bravo!  (Nov 8, 2013 | post #3)

Debt-ceiling breach would push economy into freefall, wit...

Not true. The govt has enough money to operate and pay the bills while still providing the entitlement payments such as soc sec and medicare. What we WON'T be able to do is BORROW more money from China or anyone else and get further and further into debt. We don't need to borrow ourselves into oblivion, we need to stop new spending and cut bad programs that waste our money.  (Oct 14, 2013 | post #1)

No end in sight for declining enrollment in Estes Park sc...

First off, what is "white flight" and secondly the reason you're losing kids to homeschool is because public school are not teaching children what they need to know. They are indoctrinating them with revisionist history and flat out lies. Now they're going to be teaching that getting math problems wrong is ok! If school districts would take the 10th amendment seriously and refuse federal dollars and start being schools again and teaching real history and real math and letting the parents have more control, you would see an influx back into the public school system. If I had it to do over again, I would have homeschooled both of my kids instead of sending them to that government cluster F!  (Sep 12, 2013 | post #10)

I have been looking for a way to move to Estes Park with my children for 4 years and the job situation plus the housing is the major problem. I don't think there's much government can do about that, it's going to have to be the homeowners that start lowering their home prices. I know that sounds stupid but it really comes down to making housing more affordable but be careful because once govt gets into the housing market......oh wait! Anyway, if there were jobs there that weren't just seasonal jobs, it would be a different story. I have TONS of experience and qualifications but there are no jobs there that could afford to pay me what I'm worth. It's sad because I love it there so. I will continue to look for work and housing there every month until I can find something that will sustain me and my family.  (Sep 12, 2013 | post #9)

All is not well

Bravo, Sylvia - you are the only person here doing her homework. It's not about race and it's not about JUST mexicans. It's every person coming here ILLEGALLY from all over the world just to have access to our benefits. The benefits that I worked for and that are taking out of my check will never be seen by ME, but by someone else that didn't work for it. I don't see how it's racist to say that people need to follow the laws that are on the books and not give them benefits once they get here. I'M not allowed to receive benefits and I'm a single mom, although I don't want government assistance, I do want my Social Security that's being taken out of my check every week, to be there for me when I need it. This goes for ALL people who come here and live here, not just illegals. And to "Anti-Racist from Estes, those old people you're talking about? Yeah, they paid into the system they are getting their benefits from - it's called social security and it was taken out of their paychecks specifically for the purpose they are using it for - is it a racist thing for them to expect that money to be for themselves and not given away to people that didn't earn THEIR money? You have your priorities in the wrong place, dear. And I'm sure that there are plenty of other people besides immigrants that are ready, willing and able to pick fruits and veggies from the farms so they can put food on the table for their families. Matter of fact, I know there are!  (Aug 16, 2013 | post #7)

Dog owners, what are you thinking?

Goodness, Kay! You need to relax a bit and just let things BE! Have you ever wondered how the world because so populated with all of those people growing up on farms, around horse and cow poop, putting that awful dirty dirt in their mouths as kids, riding bikes without helmets and knee pads, etc..? your kid isn't going to die or become a vegetable if it comes into contact with a little dog poo or pee. They get more germs from daycare or their own homes than a dog at the park. Besides, their little immune systems become stronger when exposed to more HARMLESS agents. Most of the dogs, if not all, that are at that park, on a leash ( or not, whatever) are most likely well taken care of and live with their own set of children and are used to kids. Most have had their shots and a rabid dog is very obvious, btw. Chances are, your kid will be fine. He/she will live a long life but you need to chill out. Take a xanax....enjoy life. It's not the end of the world if your kids comes into contact with dogs. You kind of sound like one of those over-anxiety ridden scaredy cats that whines a lot. :-/  (Aug 16, 2013 | post #9)

Secession is a costly concept

"As one of Eckerstrom's Republican opponents told NPR, "Democracy can be a real pain" Am I the only one here who still remembers the US as being a republic and not a democracy? And why is it unconstitutional in Colorado for there to be state representative from every county in Colorado? It seems that's how the state legislature is made up, am I correct? People from the different counties and their districts are elected to represent the people. That is very constitutional and should be happening right now!  (Aug 16, 2013 | post #1)
