Gibbons vetoes tax and budget bills

Thank you Gibbons! You realize that excessive taxing is a revenue decrease. Businesses provide these taxes that you collect. Drive them out with overtaxing and you get more people on unemployment and fewer taxpayers. I hope the overide fails. This budget would be a disaster for our economy.  (May 29, 2009 | post #2)

Almost all Nevada businesses are on the edge right now. I have written myself a total of 3 paychecks this year. I've laid off 80% of my personel. I've been living on credit while hoping that there would be more work before it's too late. If I fail then my business won't be paying any taxes and the remainder of us will be drawing unemployment. I have a hard time feeling sorry for state employees taking a small pay cut while I have to tell my had working employees week after week to stay home. The democratic budget is incorrectly being called a "revenue increase". When taxes are already too high, a tax increase is actually a revenue decrease. Stand Strong Guv'nor! Should we impeach Gibbons?

It figures. The Governor sticks to his convictions and goes against popular opinion because he realizes that more taxes will only hurt the economy. He instructs the departments to make do with what they have. I was a State employee for 12 years. There is more waste than you can imagine. There is no accountability. If a department head doesn't use all of their discretionary budget then they don't get as much the next year. When their budget is "cut" (not as much increase as requested), they publicly squawk about the programs that they will lose. They don't mention the real expendables. UNR complained about cutting the marching band and there was a public outcry. The same athletic department still spent thousands on the "meet the athletes" event complete with a free barbeque for the public. I'm thankful for a leader that stands for what he knows is right.  (Sep 10, 2008 | post #1)

I must agree with the posey here. It was a conspiracy... by Islamic terrorists. I've studied up on this subject more than most people.
