Ruben Rosario: Don't be one of my pet peeves

How about those morons that tailgate on the freeway and are constantly hitting their brakes? A person behind them doesn't know what could be happening ahead and ends up tapping their brakes too, and so on, and so on! And what about those freaks that decide that exit ramps, despite being 1/4 mile long, aren't enough space to slow properly, so they begin braking well before the ramp, causing another traffic slow down. Also, the dipsticks that come down a ramp talking on their phones and don't bother to see if it's clear to merge. And last but not least, the insensitive pr**ks that fail to signal because they are busy doing other thing or they simply don't care.  (Aug 6, 2009 | post #3)

AHH, but he wasn't wearing a helmet, and that could have led to his demise! AS IF! A 2 pound piece of plastic should be able to stop a 3 to 4 thousand pound vehicle, shouldn't it? Gosh, I wish they didn't have to bring it up EVERY time they report a motorcylce incident. I'm a motorcyclist, and I too see distracted drivers constantly. And plain dumb ones too. Yesterday I saw a woman tailgating a crotch rocket in heavy freeway traffic. Simple physics would tell you that a bike like that one could stop in half the distance of that car. Everybody thinks that those anti-lock brakes are going to save them from all road hazards.  (Aug 6, 2009 | post #7)

If redistricting takes place it will be based on population centers, not on who's popular or who's not. It's unlikely that the metro districts would change much, more likeley that 2 or 3 outstate districts would be merged.  (Jul 28, 2009 | post #14)

St. Paul man, 23, targeted as a gang member, but he says no way...

I thought Jumoke was a shake available at Arby's! When I was young I was told that hanging around with the wrong crowd would cause me to get labeled as a troublemaker too. I guess my parents were right, go figure! I wonder where Jumoke's parents are?  (Jul 28, 2009 | post #27)

People scurried to dodge bullets in fatal shootout in St. Paul'...

And this all happens within 2 weeks of that "massive " roundup of known criminals they just had. I'm guessing it wasn't massive enough. Living on the east side, gunshots are something I've become accustomed to, unfortunately. Maybe if the mayor could ask the police to lay off the traffic violations and concentrate on the criminal cancer in this community, we'd have some progress made. We obviuosly need some kind of a task force to deal with this. And all in the shadow of that fancy new BCA building!  (Jul 28, 2009 | post #14)

1 dead, 2 seriously wounded in shootout at St. Paul duplex

Gus, Gus, Gus, take the time to read the others answers and you'd catch up with what's going on. There is no provision for handgun registration at present. If you went and offered to register your handgun, you'd be laughed out of the office. As previously stated, you must either have a city police ok to purchase or a CCW permit to buy a handgun legally and you must pass the Federal NICS background check to purchase one. What everyone needs to be concerned about are the weapons already in criminal hands illegally. There already are laws but are criminals going to follow laws? The only proper way to deal with this is to pass laws that give AUTOMATIC mandatory sentences for the commission of crimes while using a gun. More gun control only affects law abiding gun owners. Criminals will keep their guns when it's against the law to have them. Look at England, they have way more occurences of strong arm robberies and burglaries committed WHILE the victims are present. THere the victims are powerless to stop these thugs because they are not allowed a gun for defense. George Harrison and his wife were victims like this, burglary while they were at home. As has been said, when guns are outlawed, ONLY outlaws will have guns!  (Jul 27, 2009 | post #37)

Police find guns, secret rooms in search of St. Paul home

Lorna, last I checked, we still had free speech in this country. You are the terrorist, you young troll, threatening others with views not your own, very strikingly similar to your close cousins, Al-Qaida. You just want others to pay their, soon to be astronomically high, taxes so you can sit on your rear and collect for your inefficiencies.  (Jul 24, 2009 | post #33)

If he had the guns illegally, take them away, otherwise, leave him alone. Lorna, you are the **** that needs to leave, I hear Cuba is still red.  (Jul 24, 2009 | post #16)
