Really? Name him or her. I'm sure that everyone who follows this thread would like to know.  (Jan 5, 2014 | post #290)

Actually, I won't be posting much any more. There is no need to. Here's why I did: some potential employees and insured do an Internet search about Utica National. As I've said, I don't care about opinions being posted on Topix, but I do want to challenge misstatements, falsehoods, etc. when facts don't support them and they disparage the company. Now, a potential employee or insured can get the facts, too.  (Jan 5, 2014 | post #287)

I applaud you for your snappy rejoinder. Let's call a truce, OK? If you want to talk, I'd be happy to. I would really like to understand the root of your anger. If I am in my office, I'll answer my phone.  (Jan 4, 2014 | post #280)

Not true. No one has ever been terminated by offering a dissenting view of the company or any of its policies. In fact, dissenting views, if valid, often make us a better company. We have many avenues to express opinions within the company, including writing to, or speaking with, me personally. Since I became CEO, I've answered calls into my office and responded to written opinions, criticisms, and suggestions. I will continue to do so. I want everyone who reads "Topix", or other similar organs, to understand that our company has many avenues to express opinions, and those that choose to only post on "Topix", or similar sites, have made a choice to not communicate their concerns and opinions through safe, available, internal channels. In short, anyone who says…"I fear for my job if I give my opinion" is flat out wrong.  (Jan 4, 2014 | post #279)

You are right…the company isn't what it used to be. If it was what it used to be, it would be out of business. You may not agree, but look at Atlantic Mutual, Kemper, Aetna, Continental, USF&G, and others who are not around anymore…at least "as they used to be". Utica National has had to change to stay in business..and we have. The change has been painful for everyone, but necessary. It's OK if you disagree…. You should feel free to ask your manager or supervisor if your job could be outsourced. They owe you an answer. If you are uncomfortable asking them, you can ask me. I'll tell you. As I write this, the only work we're considering "outsourcing " is some aspects of IT development testing. I'm not convinced that we can't do that work ourselves. There are no other plans to consider "outsourcing ". I'd be happy to meet with you or to talk to you about it.  (Jan 4, 2014 | post #277)

Yes, I do monitor Topix, but only to correct statements that are not true. I don't comment on opinions, including those from posters who can't spell.  (Jan 4, 2014 | post #271)

employee wrote: "Jd. Your statement is incorrect. Originally they gave x amount of employees 30 days. The next day, wktv showed up at the door step and management changed there tune. As for the 26 job postings can u give some more details on those jobs. Is it the same pay? Are all those people being slotted into those positions? Do they have to take an exam? basically those are 26 bogus jobs. You should be so proud to work for such a reputable company that does the right things. Just for your own knowledge there are many former employees, agents, policyholders, and other business who think the opposite. I can't wait to hear from you and your thoughts. I imagine you will be contacting Mike A for some pointers. I hope doug is paying ot for monitoring topix while working." There is so many falsehoods in what you wrote, I am not going to point them all out on Topix. Call me and we can discuss them, point by point. Any reader of your post is free to call me for the truth as well. I get it that you have a beef with Utica National. You may post as many opinions as you want and I'll never respond. However, you need to keep to the facts. Again, call me if you are interested in the truth. If you don't want the truth and want to keep sullying the reputation of a fine company, that's up to you. BTW…give everyone your name so everyone will know who you are. If what you say is correct, there is no reason to hide behind a screen name, is there?  (Dec 17, 2013 | post #246)

Who Called in the Media at Utica National?

There are so many falsehoods, posted here, it's not worth addressing each one. If you want to opine on our company, go ahead. You'll not hear from me. But post things that are not true, that's another issue. Facts are important. Call me if you want to discuss any of this. P.S. I'm posting using my initials because replies using my name seem to go missing.  (Dec 16, 2013 | post #7)

Slim wrote: "Did doug rectify the situation with letting go of 45-50 employees before christmas? Maybe he had a change of heart? Probably not though. The dude is out of control. For the company to survive the board needd to really purge management. That includes me. Lol." Nothing to rectify since it never happened. Someone called WKTV with the falsehood and they reported on it despite our contacting them with the truth. Get your facts right before you post on Topix. If you want to opine on me our our company, go ahead. I'll never respond. But when there are factual errors posted, Topix will hear from me. Our company practice hasn't changed in the time I've been in management. We add and eliminate jobs when and where business needs dictate. As reported here and elsewhere, 50 people were not let go a few weeks ago. When I looked on Friday, we have 26 job openings (almost all full time with benefits) listed on www.uticanational. com . If you want any more info, call me. P.S. I'm posting using my initials since my postings using my name go missing.  (Dec 16, 2013 | post #243)
