Ford unveils new Taurus at South Side plant

Those Chinese Buicks are for the Asian market, not for the North American market.  (Aug 5, 2009 | post #142)

Honda pulls 400,000 vehicles for defective airbag inflato...

Interesting, how nobody has commented on the defective Honda airbags that shoot shrapnel. I guarantee you if this was a Detroit company recall, this board would be FULL of comments.  (Aug 5, 2009 | post #1)

It would be cool to have the $43K car, but I'm sure it's not in either of our budgets, and Ford knows that. There's still people out there with money who will finance that.  (Aug 5, 2009 | post #90)

Bill Clinton was key to secret North Korean trip

I don't think you read the article properly, because the way I read it, it was definitely organized by the Sec. of State, N.Korea, Gore, Clinton and finally the White House. You couldn't expect the White House, no matter what administration, to sit idly by.  (Aug 5, 2009 | post #3)

Give it some brief time. They JUST came out with EcoBoost. It's going to be rolled out into many more models soon.  (Aug 5, 2009 | post #84)

Doesn't mean their votes are right. The foreign names are starting to have "issues" of their own. Toyota's quality, fit and finish are waning because they've grown so fast they're slipping into the old GM's shoes. Honda's aren't bulletproof either with their recent shrapnel exploding airbags. Today, you really can't go wrong with any car. The Koreans have some progress to make, but they're not as bad as they used to be either. So if I have the choice of buying a car that's just as good as everyone else, I'll make sure it's a domestic.  (Aug 5, 2009 | post #83)

I think it's amazing that everyone **** about how their domestic carmakers can't make a nice quality product. Ford does it, and it's suddenly not good enough, or too good for their name. TOO GOOD? You gotta be kidding me. Some people are so impressionable by a name....when it should be the quality and technology.  (Aug 5, 2009 | post #80)

Fiat buys Chrysler

Thanks for that scathing grade. The numbers I was using were from various automotive press releases. If you actually read automotive news, you would've seen the same speculated numbers.  (Jun 12, 2009 | post #156)

Wright sounds off on Obama and 'Jews'

Yeah that's getting serious. A few more murders from some right wing nuts and they'll be just as bad as the Islamic terrorist they're trying to defeat. Ironic? I wonder how long until the conservatives go to strapping bombs to their bodies?  (Jun 11, 2009 | post #262)

I don't know exactly how many, that's why i gave a range of 2-4. Do you have any idea how many people are affected by auto jobs? I'll enlighten you. You've got the car companies themselves, their suppliers, their dealers. Then you have all the service jobs around those companies, suppliers, dealers etc. All those fresh laid off employees then go on unemployment, which, comes from the govt. which comes from our taxes. We end up paying for it either way. I'd rather pay for it this way and have a better chance at the firms continuing instead of just liquidating the companies. NO they would not have survived standard bankruptcy, because that takes months or years. Chrysler was burning through 100 million a day in this mini-363b bankruptcy, to which they almost went insolvent while under protection. Who do you think would keep these companies solvent in regular bankruptcy? The banks? HAH. The govt. is the only one with the resources to stop stuff from collapsing since they have money printers. NO i don't like the idea of the govt. with their hands in the 'industry' jar, but I prefer it over the alternative.  (Jun 11, 2009 | post #141)

General Motors bankruptcy: Questions and answers for cons...

OK a_reader, what's your solution to the 2+ million that would be unemployed were GM, Chrysler, and probably Ford were to be totally liquidated as planned by your play book. HUH? Would you help all those people? And how? I bet you wouldn't give them a dime. And why should you care, you're still employed. But what happens when your firm locks up and dumps you too because all those auto employees are no longer patronizing your business? Then what? We all don't live in a vacuum. Everyone's actions, hardships and successes affects everyone else whether you realize it or not.  (Jun 11, 2009 | post #67)

And what do you suggest the alternative to be? Yeah it sucks, but could you have thought of something better? Hell, lets just liquidate all of them. We don't need a car industry anymore! We can handle 2-3-4 million more unemployed. It's NOOOO problem!  (Jun 11, 2009 | post #138)

Why not? it's a good v8 motor. in many of their products you have the option of a v6, a smaller 4.7L v8, or the Hemi. So what's the beef?  (Jun 11, 2009 | post #137)

yeah! because that's the American thing to do! Talk about government motors, sheesh! Toyota and Honda are both tightly in bed with the Japanese govt, and Nissan is half owned by Renault of France who, woah! we all know is an evil socialist nation! Yeah, so they slap some cars together in the southern states, your dollars are going to Japan and France. That's cool i guess. I thought we were all anti-socialism? So if we can't buy socialist cars, i guess the only thing we can ALL buy are Fords! (all your logic, not mine)  (Jun 11, 2009 | post #136)
