He told us he mailed us the ownership agreement, and that he's filing for an eviction on us.. Gods, I hope he actually tries... What's more likely, though, is after jcbudlight got his situation worked out with his new tennants, Joey is feeling a financial pinch, and decided to see if he could shake us down.. I swear, Joey would have you think he has the worst luck possible with the US postal service... He mailed jcbudlight money what five times now and it never got there? He's mailed several other people several other things and they just never got there. He mailed me my homeowner's agreement and it never got here... OH but the bullshit 'notice' he sent me telling me I'm past due on my house payment.. THAT made it here no problem..... Well, I got news for Joey. The money we agreed to pay is sitting in an escrow account just waiting for him to *prove* he has a legal right to sell the house to us. We're paying into escrow specifically so that when all this comes out in the wash, whoever SHOULD be getting paid for us living here DOES get paid for it. Either that or we'll have enough cash in a couple years to buy it from TennCare, as the fair market appraisal is only a little bit over $22,000... Either way, we're under the advice of TennCare, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, AND Joey's great uncle Jim (whose name is actually *on* the deed) not to give Joey a dime. And we're damn sure not going to vacate the property so he can use it to rip off the next unsuspecting fellow - especially not on an asinine empty threat like the one he tried to throw at us. Joey Morgan's days of ripping people off are over, and gods and the good winds willing, his sorry ass will be behind bars real soon. I think if he gets probation again after all this, I'm gonna have to do some time, myself, for slapping the dogs hit out of whatever judge decided to let him off light...  (Sep 26, 2012 | post #111)

LOL!!!! S, this guy a really had the nerve t send us a letter telling us we're 20+ days past-due on our house payment and that we need to pay or vacate. He claims the ownership agreement has not been returned to him by mail, therefore we received it and are in default. We never received a thing from Joey, and wouldn't have been able to pay him directly if we'd wanted to, given he refuses to acknowledge any attempts we've made to contact him. We've tried to track Joey down for the ownership agreement and to get things straightened out over a dozen times, and he has never returned a call or so much as shown up here. He can rest assured, we're making our house payments into an escrow account, and as soon as he can show verifiable proof he has a right to sell this property(which, according to the state of Tennessee and his great uncle Jim, he can't), we will be more than happy to release those funds to him. For aanybody trying to track down and/or get ahold of Joey, the return address on the 'notice' he sent us is: 3583 RoEllen-Newbern Rd. Newbern, TN 38059 And the number he left is seven and three and one and four and seven and eight and five and one and eight and seven. I'm sure he would be more than happy to see or hear from you all :-)  (Sep 22, 2012 | post #109)

If that's you, I want you to know you put us in a really tough spot with this scam of yours. FORTUNATELY, your great uncle Jim has bent over backwards to help us and make sure we can stay in the place you had no right to sell us. The neighbors tell us what a pleasure it is to have us here, and the city is helping to finance us getting rid of the garage that fell down. I hope the twelve-hundred bucks you got from us was well-spent, and I hope you never scam anyone again, but I'm not holding my breath. I'll tell you this, though, Joey: Had this not worked out in our favor, and my totally disabled mother ended up on the street with her twelve-hundred bucks in your pocket, there wouldn't have been a rock on this planet you could have hidden from my brother and I under. We've managed to track your whereabouts and activities withuncanny accuracy. I want you to think HARD about that before you pick your next victim. There are people out here with PROPER morals who are a HELL of a lot smarter than you are, and if we hear of you trying this crap on someone else after this, we're going to make sure we dedicate our considerable spare-time, knowledge, and resources to helping them track you down and nail your ass to the wall. Get a real job, Joey, and make your living like a real man. And SHAME ON YOU for getting that woman fired who told on you for printingfake deeds on her computer after-hours where she and your wife worked. The fact that people like you exist at all turns my stomach. I just hope the law catches up to you proper before blackwater and some of these people on here gunning to kill you do...  (Sep 11, 2012 | post #102)

Can someone please explain to me how someone with their face on CrimeStoppers keeps making bail?  (Aug 23, 2012 | post #88)

Joey Neil Morgan is currently behind bars in the Madison County Jail. I just got off the phone with Sgt. Marla Taylor of the Jackson Police Department. Sgt. Taylor is conducting the criminal investigation into Joey's deeds, and is currently charging him with multiple counts of fraud. I spoke to her at length about our situation, and she urged me to call the police here in Dyer and file a report, as well as contact the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations and have them launch a case against him, as well. Her desk number is seven 3 one 4 two 5 eight 4 five 8, and if Joey has ripped you off, she would like to hear from you. If you are in Jackson, file a police report with JPD. If you are elsewhere in the county, file with the Sheriff's department. If you're in another city or county, file with the appropriate department, but make sure to let them know you have been in contact with her, and give them her number. Also, talk to the District Attorney where you are, and give them her number, as well, and be sure to let them know that the Madison County DA *IS* nailing his ass to the wall. I also told her that I was planning on making BOTH of Joey's court dates in an offer/attempt to testify against him, and that I had encouraged all of you, here, to do the same. She said this was a GREAT idea, and the more people who followed through with it, the better. AGAIN, JOEY MORGAN IS IN JAIL, AND THERE'S NOBODY AROUND TO POST HIS BAIL. He won't be getting away, this time. P.S. Sam, I'm glad to hear you got your charges pressed, and I hope you get some satisfaction from the outcome of this situation.  (Aug 14, 2012 | post #70)

Joey is on probation from the Dyer County Circuit Court for "Theft over $1000" and "Failure to Appear". He was arrested on August 3rd in Jackson, transferred to Dyer County Jail on August 4th, bonded by Danny Blankenship Bonding, and released on August 4th to appear in Dyer County Circuit Court on August 7th, which he made. His next appearance in court will be before the Jackson City court on August 23rd at 9:30AM for the charge of "Auto Theft", and then he's scheduled to appear before Dyer County Circuit Court again on September 4th at 9:00AM. I encourage everyone he owes money to to show up to these court dates and speak to the prosecuting attorney present, and offer to testify against Joey's character on behalf of the City/County/State/ whatever. I also have a current known address for Joey as of August 6th from his probation officer. I will not post that information, here. I have posted contact information for myself in this thread, as has my brother. Either will reach me in very short order, so please, don't hesitate to contact me with questions and/or information.  (Aug 14, 2012 | post #68)

A_Stark, On the internet, when people post corrective or contradictory information, they usually do it in an authorative yet vague manner, and it makes it hard to establish any kind of real credibility when you actually know what you're talking about. To combat this phenomenon, I tend to go as all-out in my reply as I can. I do apologize for condescending to you, that's what happens when I post stuff at 3AM and I'm already in a foul mood after a REALLY long day and getting my hopes up over something only to find out it wasn't true, at all. When raids happen like that, it usually only takes moments for the tech support team that follows SWAT in to determine why, and then the homeowners are scalded and sometimes cited/fined for having an open network. While WEP style WiFi security is fairly insecure, WPA2 is about as secure as any encryption your bank would use, and the number of WEP-encrypted networks out there dwindles by the day. Again, I sincerely apologize for condescending/bein g a dick to you. All I really meant to do was establish a little credibility, and I got carried away. wonderer, There's nothing surreal about it at all. This guy is a crook, and he's been in the business of robbing people for years. Not only that, but he specifically preys on the really hard-up-for-a-brea k, more-often-than-no t draining them of every penny they have. What kind of response, exactly, were you expecting to see, here? Sam, Still REALLY need that detective's information, man. Regards to all, -Jay  (Aug 14, 2012 | post #67)

And as far as the "innocent person" comment... YOU are responsible for ANYTHING done on your computer. I'm going to bed, now. I need to get up early and start calling detectives about our case against Joey (well, it's really TennCare's case against him... Our case is civil, and there's an old saying about not being able to squeeze blood from a turnip...) Sleep tight, -Jay  (Aug 14, 2012 | post #63)

Excerpt from http://www.pickett countypress.com/st ory.php?id=383 "In March, a California judge denied Topix's motion to withhold any identifying information for the targets of the suit. Topix cooperated and provided the IP addresses regarding the identity of the Topix posters. People who think they are commenting anonymously can be identified because in most cases an email address is required and an Internet Protocol (IP) address is recorded with each post. A unique IP address is given to each computer connected to the internet which gives enough information to find out an individual's name or business that computer is registered to. With that information, legal action can be taken against an individual and/or business. In a recent press release from the Tennessee Attorney General, Topix, LLC and the Attorney Generals announced measures to improve consumer protections and the review of inappropriate or abusive internet posts. The Attorneys General are concerned about the derogatory posts and "cyber bullying" that are personal in nature particularly those which relate to minors. They have taken measures to educate parents and teachers, propose and/or support legislation to outlaw cyber bullying or cyber stalking and conduct and assist in investigation and prosecutions. Topix has agreed to cooperate with law enforcement agencies to assist them in combating unlawful activity on its website." As far as an IP just being an IP, when you combine it with a timestamp and a subpoena of user information from the ISP it came from, you end up with a Mac Address and - most likely - an actual human being, as well. Don't try to tell me what I *know* about, I am an internet security *EXPERT*. You are *NOT* anonymous, and since 2010, Topix has been VERY compliant in handing over information voluntarily to law enforcement, as not doing so almost cost them their business. His name is *not* John Morgan His name is *not* Tom Morgan His name is Joey Neil Morgan His birthday is December 20th, 1972 He is *not* currently incarcerated in the Dyer or Madison county jails, nor has he been since he was released from both on August 4th. Sam, What detective out of which office did you speak to regarding him and his wife? I would like to call them and set up a time for them to come out and interview my mother and father regarding our case against him.  (Aug 14, 2012 | post #59)

Thanks for the info :) I'm on it. We contacted TennCare and got the ball rolling in that direction, today, as well. Nice to see things are finally catching up with him.  (Aug 14, 2012 | post #57)

Update: We were able to get in touch with the fellow who held power-of-attorney over the estate at the time of Joey's grandmother's passing. He told us that as far as he knows, the property is in forfeiture to the state of Tennessee via TennCare, and that Joey had been in contact with both him and TennCare in an effort to have the property released, but he didn't know if he was successful or not. He also told us the house was part of an estate that had been willed to the daughter of the deceased, who has also passed, willing the estate to four grandchildren, one of whom is Joey. He said that he didn't think Joey has a legal right to rent or sell the property, and that as soon as he found the paperwork, he would forward it to me along with the necessary numbers I would need to contact the state and see where we stand, legally. So, basically - according to this fella - Joey *may have* gotten a release for the property and is selling it to us on the up-and-up, but probably not. He told us we should get a lawyer, and offered to help in whatever way he could, given his limited knowledge of and involvement in the situation. He also said were he in our situation, he would not give Joey any more money until 1) we see the release from TennCare, and 2) we see a clear deed to the property. That puts us at *maybe* option 1, but *probably* option 3 from my list, above. I think I'm gonna take the guy's advice, and if Joey shows up to collect a house payment, we'll say we need to see those documents and receive our contract before we can pay any more money, but in the meantime, the house payments will go into an escrow account that will be released to him when he has satisfied his legal obligations to us. I'm not trying to be a pain, but after everything I've read, today, I am definitely going to err on the side of caution. Oh, and one other thing. Joey told us (and the tax assessment office confirmed) that the appraised value of the property was 45k, and that he was selling to us on a short-term deed contract for 36k. The gentleman on the phone, today, told me that he had the property independently apprised in April for 22k - Quite an alarming difference.. Though, I *will* say, the house is sturdy and in good shape. We have no problem paying 36k for it if everything pans out in our favor.. I just really hate being lied to, as I personally adhere to a policy of brutal honesty...  (Aug 9, 2012 | post #47)
