Walmart Thanksgiving Walkout Turns into Job Fair

That's a cruel personal attack. i am NOT a shill, i just feel very strongly about this particular issue. Working conditions are shameful these days & everyone i kno is suffering. i hate the fact that it's an employers market right now due to the terrible economic conditions. It's not good or even ok, it just is. i was merely expressing the fact that there are far worse places to work with much less pay ... a LOT of them. Yet walmart is being singled out & attacked because it's such a huge target. Do i wish conditions were better? YES! However, since i lost my job (the place had to shut down) i have come to realize the value of even having a job these days. Can we not have a discussion without personal attacks. You have no idea what anyone who takes the time to express their opinions on this (or any other subject) is truly going thru.  (Nov 26, 2012 | post #25)

Walmart Thanksgiving Walkout Turns into Job Fair

Ha! walkout appears to be a bust & unions are forced to realize that they are NOT able to get away with their bully, thug tactics. Nobody "deserves " anything, we all have to earn our rights. i am so tired of the whole 'entitlement' mentality. When did that happen. This selfish mindset totally robs the folks who are truly in need of our help. i am very involved in charity work, so i see people everyday who have truly fallen into horrible conditions ... what about them!!! Priorities & perceptions have begun to change America into a terribly selfish society & the people who suffer the most are those who really need our help. God help us all ...  (Nov 24, 2012 | post #7)

Wal Mart walk out

Oh pah-lease!!! walmart offers higher wages & better working conditions than many, if not most, of the jobs available for non-skilled labor. Strong-arming tactics only work if you have the upper hand (stronger arm). Too many people are suffering from the fact that it's an employers market right now. It sucks, it's not fair, it just is. Walmart is not the only company who's policies are changing & becoming crappier for the employee's, it's just one of the biggest targets. Especially for unions. They have been trying to bust up walmart for YEARS! Thank obamacare for the rising health insurance costs. Plus, the class warfare tactics he has promoted since being in office have hurt every aspect of trying to work for a living. Unions are NOT the answer, they are bankrupting this country right alongside with obama's incessant need to overspend. His administration has already begun to target the monies coming in by raising taxes on the so-called rich for more reckless spending. That revenue was intended to help cover his trillions in over-spending from his first term, but it's now being redirected for more spending ... to hell with the debt we're already in! People need to think for themselves & quit acting like mindless zombies. Our future is in our own hands unless we get too lazy to think for ourselves & hand our individual power to someone else. FYI: obama is NOT a messiah, nor can he walk on water ...  (Nov 23, 2012 | post #37)

Oh pah-lease!!! The wages & health benefits offered by walmart are well above the cut-off to receive welfare. Ahhh poor babies!!! Let them lose their jobs & find out how "terrific " the job market is out there. Yes it sucks that it's an employers market, but it is what it is.  (Nov 23, 2012 | post #31)

Walmart walkout

If he not made the CHOICE to steal, he would not need protection from anyone but himself. The reason companies have a 'probationary' period is to determine if the newly hired employee will be able to handle the job & follow policy. Why he CHOSE to jeapordize his job for a carton of milk makes no sense. Many people (including myself & my husband) survive on less than 40k/year, so i can't see that as a reason to steal milk. BTW; a lot of the strikers are actually "occupy wallstreet" lemmings who have nothing better to do anyhow. i would lov to get a job at Walmart & have applied numerous times. Their work practices, including the rising health-care costs, are being done everywhere. My husbands company just increased his to 3 times higher (Thank obamacare for THAT one)! His company also hires at minimum wage as do many in the same business (restaurants, fast food, etc). So $12.00/hour would be SEVERAL raises for these employee's. i really hope the Walmart employees realize how good they have it b4 they choose to throw it away. Jobs are tough to find, pay is low & health benefits are disappearing at an alarming rate.  (Nov 23, 2012 | post #10)
