Tax the rich? Is it that simple?
Perhaps the reason for the reluctance to increase taxes on the people with vastly greater incomes comes from the realization that the majority of those "rich" people are the owners of small businesses, manufacturing or service oriented companies, that hire the very people who don't want to see their jobs go to South Dakota. Just a thought. (Sunday Dec 13 | post #74)
Obama described as 'angry' over security breach
Your analogy describing the President having to swim upstream is fitting. The bright spot that I see is a dam in the way and he won't reach his goal. He won't be able to spawn and his dream of a United Socialist States of America [USSA] will never materialize. Freedom is here currently and your socialist state will not exist. Obama described as 'angry' over security breach
The "racist capitalist system". This would be opposed to the benevolent socialist system that you evidently prefer. What's wrong? Aren't getting your "fair share" of someone elses earnings? Haven't got your "fair share" of the tax dollars collected from people who actually work for a living? You do know, don't you, that the two people responsible for more deaths in their own countries than anyone else on earth were devout Communists? Joseph Stalin and Mao Tse Tung had more of their own citizens executed than anyone in recorded history. Benevolent dictators in action. (Saturday Dec 12 | post #306)
Obama described as 'angry' over security breach
If I am correct the current President promised transparency in government, a change in the politics as usual in DC, and a united population when he was campaigning. These promises have all been swept under the rug. The current President has had as many, if not more, closed door meetings with special interests as GW ever had. The current President has a cabinet and his czar positions filled with members of the Clinton administration and his Chicago pals and the current President has made more than a few statements that, instead of uniting Black, Hispanic and White peoples, have inflamed racial tensions in many areas of the country. It will be a relief when he fails in his attempt at re-election in November of 2012. (Friday Dec 11 | post #299)
Ethics probes challenge Democrats as 2010 elections loom - but ...
During this time of "Peace on Earth and Joy to the World" it is comforting to see that the fanatic liberal left, embodied by IrishMN, is alive and well. We, all who are aligned against this administration, should take heart in the fact that the latest polls continue to show a precipitous decline in the popularity of the current President and his efforts to turn America into a theocracy based on the religion of "Climate Change" and to require the US to cow-tow to the UN in matters of domestic policies [Cap and Tax, CO2 as a Pollutant, etc.]. November 2010 will put a screeching halt to many of this administrations erroneous ways and November 2012 will put an end to the reign of Americas first President who follows in the footsteps of another of our greatest politicians [James Earl "Jimmy" Carter]. Come January 2013 "Happy Days" will once again arrive. (Friday Dec 11 | post #11)
Ruben Rosario: Make Minnesota competitive: Invest in schools, n...
First of all your math is atrocious. $750,000 million dollars is not $750,000,000, it is, in fact, $120,000,000,000 or 120 Billion dollars which equates to 1.2 billion dollars per your created jobs [120,000,000,000 divided by 1,000]. My question is, what kind of jobs are you creating that pay $1.2 billion? Are they for more "educators "? I believe we have more than enough of them now! (Thursday Dec 10 | post #58)
DNR looks for clues about cougar roaming Twin Cities area
The cougar jokes are no more tiresome than your constant whining and complaining about posts on TOPIX. I have come to believe that you go from thread to thread just to complain. Go get yourself a real life. (Tuesday Dec 8 | post #14)

I would have believed that the computers at the Public Library, where you post your inane comments, have a method of checking your spelling. Keep up the good work DAB, we will delight in finding your idiotic errors. (Tuesday Dec 8 | post #25)
When you start to talk about hacks let us not forget Al Gore and the BS that idiot has foisted on the American public for how many years. Global warming has been revised to climate change because the earth is actually cooling and has been for several years. Gore has a bigger carbon footprint than 90 percent of Americans and he wants to tell us to cut back. (Monday Dec 7 | post #25)
Hey Lunch Time, do you feel the same way about the mayor of Minneappolis? After all, Rybak didn't even allude to the fact that he was going to run for Governor until AFTER he had been re-elected to the positon of mayor. What kind of integrity does that display? (Monday Dec 7 | post #23)
Could Favre be greatest Viking ever?
Yeah you did your part, you beat the lowly Redskins on a field goal in overtime. It is the only time you led in the entire game. Now we'll get to see what a bunch of Vikings do to a Cardinal or two and if it turns out the way I believe it wiil, there will be fewer red birds in Arizona. (Sunday Dec 6 | post #30)

Just another article from the biased point of view of a liberal. No where in the article does he mention the proposed plan to put slot machines at the two race tracks and use the money generated from them to build the stadium. Why not? Could it be that the indian tribes have told him not to? Installing slots at the two tracks would generate more than enough money to take care of building and maintaining the stadium. That said, I do agree that sports stadiums don't add that many jobs or tax revenue. What they do provide is a bragging point for any area that has pro teams. We all need bragging rights, even liberals, it's just that theirs are all about theaters, museums and orchestras while some of us would prefer ours to be about football, baseball and hockey...I'd say basketball but how does one go about bragging about the Timber-puppies? Could Favre be greatest Viking ever?
Not yet. As of this day Favre is the best quarterback the Vikings have had in a long long long time but not the best ever. You probably mever had the opportunity to watch Fran Tarkenton lead NFL defensive linemen on merry chases out at Met Stadium. As to him being the greatest Viking to ever suit up...no way. He would have to get in line behind the likes of John Randle, Carl Eller, Alan Page and a few others. That said, this is the first year it has actually been fun to watch the Vikings play since.....well, for a long long long time. (Sunday Dec 6 | post #10)
