As Vikings' stadium wars heat up, L.A. threat becomes more real

First off, I am IrishMN. Not you. Change your name. You are confusing all the Republi-thugs out there who know what I stand for. (Just in case you forgot which sice of the fence I am on, it would be the side of truth, justice, and the American way.) Next, there is no scenario where tax dollars will not be used in a corporate welfare scheme with a Vi-Queens stadium. The State of Minnesota is broke. What don't you understand about that very important fact? If there is a way for private enterprise to build and pay for the stadium without using any tax dollars, I am all for it. I have not seen you offer anything beyond...I like the Vikings and don't want them to leave. Grow up. If the Vikes are going to blackmail the State, send them packing. Good riddance to bad garbage.  (1 hr ago | post #484)

Central Bank of Stillwater buys failed Florida bank, its fourth

What you are seeing here each Friday is the left over trash from Bushco & Friends. Here is what happens: The greedy and crooked CEO of a bank over extends his bank and goes belly up. The FDIC with our tax dollars backing this fraud of a transaction, shuts down the failing bank and awards all of its holdings along with a big pile of government cash to the crooked CEO of another bank. That CEO rapes the general public with bad investments and the circle starts all over again. What is needed here is a complete and total government take over of the financial system of the United States. Without such an action, our economy may be doomed just like it was for the eight years it was lead by Bushco.  (2 hrs ago | post #3)

Smaller AFSCME unit backing Kelliher for governor

Another union wisely backing Ms. Kelliher for Governor. If the election were held today, we could be saying "Hi Madam Governor" to this very effective and caring leader of our State House. Ms. Kelliher, an early congratulations to you. And we look forward to a caring and sensitive administration, unlike that of King Timmy what we will have to suffer through for another 11 months.  (2 hrs ago | post #9)

As Vikings' stadium wars heat up, L.A. threat becomes more real

My family really needs a new house. This one I live in is almost 30 years old and is not as pretty or as green as a friend who built one last year in San Francisco. I should not have to pay anything for living in my house even though my income is in the top 1% of all Americans. Also, my company can't make as much money as we need to in order to stay competitive in our industry. I need to have a new factory built that will also serve (in the hours that my company is not using it) as a place for technical college students to learn how to run machines used in production. By the way, I will be receiving the parking revenue from the three lots adjacent to my building. I don't own those lots, but need the income to hire a better quality of worker. As soon as each of those very worthwhile projects is paid for by the State, county, or municipality where my home and business are located, I will be happy to support a new Vi-Queens stadium. Heck, I will even buy four more season tickets to go with the four I have right now. Lastly, if the State, county, or city decides not to pay for my new home and business, I will be moving to South Dakota since they have a better tax structure there. I will also be taking all 100 of my employees with me and the State will lost lots of tax revenue since we will not be here to pay them any more. Other than the fact that I am not a billionaire like Ziggy Wilf is, and I am a bit smaller than the Vi-Queens organization, what is the difference between my demands, and those of the Vikes?  (2 hrs ago | post #480)

McCain campaign fires back at Palin over book

Gee, now that is a very unbiased opinion from Archie. The Right Wing Corporate Media tried their hardest to come up with lies about our President, Mr. Obama. Does the term "birther " ring a bell with anyone? However, this man was a pure as the driven snow, and is smarter than all of the talking headds put together. He is the one that will deliver America back to prosperity again after 8 destructive years from Bushco & Friends.  (3 hrs ago | post #392)

Health bill passes first test in Senate; debate to begin after ...

What did I just say about the Right Wing Corporate Media? They know where their bread gets buttered, and as such will not cross their big buck Republi-thug friends - read that to be "advertisers ". General Electric and Land O' Lakes are both big advertisers within the Right Wing Corporate Media. The small grassroots groups, where the real Americans participate, are not advertisers. Follow the money, my friend. If they lie to all of us about the numbers, the money continues to flow. If they don't, the advertisers will become upset and pull their ads. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see what direction the Right Wing Corporate Media will go.  (3 hrs ago | post #68)

As Vikings' stadium wars heat up, L.A. threat becomes more real

1. If this is not a taxpayer bailout of billionaire owners, then why are any tax dollars required? 2. If this is such a good business proposition, why isn't some enterprising corporate entity jumping all over the idea of building a stadium and then leasing it (just as the state will do under your scenario) back to the Vi-Queens for their 10 or so home dates per year? 3. How much rent do the Vi-Queens pay per year now for use of the Humptydome? A.) Zero B.) Zilch C.) Nadda or D.) Nothing Tell me again this is not about corporate welfare when they don't pay a penny for use of the current facility. 4. The State of Minnesota had better have higher priorities when they are a billion plus dollars in the hole. Even Republi-thugs can see the logic in that statement.  (4 hrs ago | post #477)

Not giving the Vikings any money? What are you smoking? How about: naming rights? concessions? parking revenue? free rent? And these are just the start. If this is so important for the Vi-Queens to survive, then they can build it themselves just like my company has to build our own facility if we decide that we need a nicer place to gather. Now...you did bring up an interesting statement. Let's help the Vi-Queens with this venture. Since the stadium will be used far more by the general public than the Queens, let them charge rent for people using their stadium. That way the Wilf family can see a pay-back for the facility within just a couple of years I'd bet. Right?  (6 hrs ago | post #473)

Health bill passes first test in Senate; debate to begin after ...

1. Contrary to what you state, most Americans are strongly in favor of the government taking over the mess we call health care in the United States. 2. Big Insurance has abused the public so much that the only way to fix the mess we currently have is to have your government take it over. Otherwise, you can look for 20% increases each year to line the pockets of the crooked billionaire CEO's of the insurance companies. 3. The country is in dire financial straights because of Bushco and his crooked Friends. Mr. Obama is valiantly trying to fix the economy left behind by Mr. "I ain't never gonna tooken care of the poor people" Bush. If you were not rich already, he had no time for you or your problems. That is not the case with our current President, Mr. Obama. 4. If not for the tainted reporting of the Right Wing Corporate Media - the PiPress included - you would have the real story with the public's support of government run health care, and what Bushco really did to the citizens of the United States.  (7 hrs ago | post #50)

As Vikings' stadium wars heat up, L.A. threat becomes more real

Corporate welfare with building a stadium for the Vikings is a fact. If not for the whining little cry babies that pretend to be he-man football players, there is no need what so ever for this billion dollar boondoggle. "Cop out"? You are watching too much of the old 1970's re-runs on TV these days.  (7 hrs ago | post #471)

As Vikings' stadium wars heat up, L.A. threat becomes more real

It is always an eye opener when all of the Republi-thugs line up to support giving almost a billion dollars (on top of the half a billion dollars to the Pohlad family for the baseball park and another half a billion dollars for that goof ball Tim Brewster and his "student/athl etes") to the richest of the rich for a playground so they can charge more money than the typical person can pay to go to a stupid game! Why can't you see that welfare for the corporate rich is wrong? Especially when we have so many that are jobless and homeless in this state? Give the money where it will do some good for mankind, not to just make the rich richer.  (11 hrs ago | post #455)

All of the supporters of the current Administration are supposed to be joyous over this bill passing. To be honest, I am not so sure. This is not Single Payer. I still believer that our President, Mr. Obama, will bring Single Payer to us, but he will have a tough road ahead with the gutless Congress that he needs to partner with.  (15 hrs ago | post #11)
