Ex-BART officer Mehserle sentenced to two years in prison...

It is what it is. The jury dropped the more extreme charges which led to the open sentence. Probation up to 14 years. He got 2. WE, US, a jury of our peers made the ultimate decision. Justice.  (Nov 5, 2010 | post #11)

Pomona City Council candidates answer questions

I just fell off my chair when I saw that Ginna was leading as of now. Appears Fire bought themselves another puppet. Amazing.  (Nov 2, 2010 | post #19)

Hazing inquiry leads to suspension of Cal Poly Pomona fra...

Big sissies. Don't cry after when you asked for it when it was going on. Hazing is a part of anything you do. Give a little to get a little. Everyone is a whiner now.  (Oct 30, 2010 | post #2)

Restaurant owner takes on Torres in 61st Assembly District

Torres is worthless. Never did anything for Pomona and hasn't done anything for California. Never will. All she knows is to do as the fire unions say, that's how she got elected before and how she is getting elected now. Can only hope the Joey's guy has a chance, but in this day and age I doubt it.  (Oct 26, 2010 | post #3)

Pomona council candidates spar on issues

You lost me when you said you endorse Carrizosa for that seat. She has destroyed Pomona and done nothing for it at all. She is a disease to the entire city council and without her gone, Pomona has no shot. If you really think Carrizosa had a family emergency, then that shows your true dedication to her and her antics. She had no shot at that forum and that's why she avoided it. If she went, she would only lose votes. Only hope for Pomona is that Carrizosa "the troll" loses and Pomona can move into the future with someone that cares and can make changes.  (Oct 22, 2010 | post #4)

Pomona from a positive perspective

Pomona leaders never mention the fire department. The fire department owns the city leaders, Lowry, and the City Council. That much is very clear. We'll see how this so called Fire Dept discussion goes in the near future. I predict it will be the same as the last 5 years. Sorry, we can't cut anything, we need another 10% raise, and whispering behind closed doors of things like if you dare touch a penny of our budget your political career will be over. That will be enough to keep the fire budget exactly how it is. The only department in the IE with no cuts at all in this economy.  (Aug 16, 2010 | post #2)

Police hiring on hold; Pomona grant to add nine officers ...

It can finally be put to rest. Mr Alhambra/Monterey Park, and all the others can now move on to something else. City Council did just what was expected and put it to bed for good. Finally no more BS, just back to Pomona being Pomona. Whew.  (Aug 2, 2010 | post #21)

Police Dept. issue lingers in Pomona

True. But when you test hat 41 cops and less cost, it's too late to ever go back. Pomona will never be able to return to their own PD ever again. So that's what will be weighed by this council in their decision, as well as their political careers. Try going Monday night Mr Alhambra/Montebello/Monterey Park and get up and speak about how you want it on the ballot. You will be, my guess, in the 5% who want Sheriff's or want it on the ballot. Not to mention the $100,000 cost of just putting it on the ballot for the people to vote down  (Jul 29, 2010 | post #80)

Police Dept. issue lingers in Pomona

You have finally made a valid point. There is no doubt that this was all a political ploy from the start to get the police to give up a good portion (15%) of their pay and benefits. There is no doubt they will get more in the future. All part of politics. Only question left is will it go to ballot  (Jul 29, 2010 | post #76)

Don't replace Pomona police

Good letter by someone with first hand knowledge. Refreshing hearing this after all the out of city BS, sales pitches, and politics related to this topic. Monday night this will all go away forever.  (Jul 28, 2010 | post #5)

Police Dept. issue lingers in Pomona

If you really think that the Sheriff's Dept is going to have 22 deputies patrolling Pomona between 7am and 11am everyday of the week (since that's the only time Pomona has 5, usually 7-10), you are smoking that same funny stuff that Alhambra and Monterey Park are smoking when they wrote up their smoke and mirrors sales pitch. The Phase 1 study is so preliminary, and really doesn't even compare a whole package. Doesnt take into account buildings, radios, and all kinds of other things. It's a sales brochure to make people say oh wow, this really looks great. It looks great, but when you look deeper it's really not great at all. Just look at the contract of Compton over the last 10 years. That's a mirror image of what a Pomona contract would look like in 10 years. Monday night this whole issue will go away forever. I know Pomona council members aren't very smart, but I think they are smart enough to know if they put this on the ballot, their political careers are over forever  (Jul 28, 2010 | post #74)

Police Dept. issue lingers in Pomona

I can't wait for Monday night to be here and gone. Then we will hear that it won't even go to the vote of the people, the council will vote it down and we won't hear about it again. Then Alhambra and Monterey Park will disappear and move onto their next Phase 1 proposal that they write up, sales pitch for, and promote for some other city with a whacked out city council that thinks of looking into something like this. Monday can't come soon enough. Maybe Bell will be their next victim of a smoke and mirrors Phase 1 study that when moved to Phase 2 or smoke and mirrors cleaned off, turns out to be a sales pitch with no substance.  (Jul 28, 2010 | post #71)

City officials abuse taxpayers

You hit it right on the head. "not nearly as corrupt" is the correct use of words. Corrupt is corrupt and she needs to go. If this was a cop or anyone else in the City, she would be screaming and yelling in language that no one can understand to have them fired immediately. She might even use the words gestapo ago. She's one of the most racist people I have seen in my life and she is terrible for the run down City of Pomona. Do what she would do in this case to a cop or anyone else, run her out of town  (Jul 26, 2010 | post #4)

Please do more checkpoints and do them more often. I want these unlicensed and uninsured drivers off the streets. Do more checkpoints and more saturations, and anything else you can do to get these piece of junk cars and people off the streets!!  (Jul 2, 2010 | post #5)
