MediaNews announces management changes

I would like to see them more affordable with their advertising, I can not afford to advertise on a regular bases because they are so high. I would not mind paying more for my subscription, but would like to see more local stories, and I am sorry, I went to a community meeting and voiced my concerns on an issue, the reporter only reported on a couple of folks who supported the purchase and did not include both sides. There were several people who spoke out about the Blue Shield building but it was not reported. That was very disappointing. I would also like to hear of more events before they happen. It does not seem to be a real place to find out about the happenings. I learn more from facebook than I do in the paper. Perhaps it goes back to their rates being to high for advertising. I think Jim is an equal opportunity insulter, funny I never considered him far left. But, I don't want someone who always agrees with me. I don't mind hearing other points of view.  (Jan 27, 2011 | post #8)

New Woodland gym hopes to build youth connections

My point was, this was all private money, no returns expected, how could one complaint, even if I don't hold the same belief as these people? Post please if the above pose 27 is confusing/offensive, I have been offended for quite a long time.  (Jan 25, 2011 | post #28)

New Woodland gym hopes to build youth connections

What happened to that russion church that got all the community funding? Didn't you know that millions went into a community center that was supposed to meant for all.............? It is a gym, basketball etc.... Honestly, I don't know how W.S. did not complain their tax dollars did not go to a religous org when many churches asked for permits and were not granted even when not asking for money, just a building permit, I know a bit about that...............BUT what UI don't understand is how did the poor city of WS tax dollars go to building a religious multi center, beautiful, but not private donations, go to paying for a Russion religion aka basketball court to some?  (Jan 25, 2011 | post #27)

Yolo's seniors, youths need more public transit

I agree with post 4, I am independent, make enough money to not worry about gas etc., but am concerned with overpopulation, the air quality etc., if bus routes were direct, dependable I would not mind utilizing for a lot of errands. This would reduce our need on foreign oil, I am a democrat who believes we should keep drilling our own oil, I do not want to depend on another country for any daily need. Public transit is not utilized nearly enough to be an asset to society. Of course I would always need a vehicle for those urgent matters. But our system does not support a busy lifestyle or make it worth our money. I have to say I have not rode a bus in Woodland for 31 years, did ride one in Hawaii and hated it....but times are different.  (Jan 25, 2011 | post #6)

Is it time for fair to charge admission?

I like the family fee/25 max perhaps, if older than 18 ten is good. It is reasonable, if you are younger than 18 and not attending with an adult you must pay the adult fee, 4 minors per entrance of fee for family. Not a bad idea, as far as lunch crowd, perhaps changing the entrance station to the information booth, entrance to the food is free, if you are buying alcohol, you must show proof you paid the entrance (since beer garden is near food). I was always proud it was free, I am against a tax, but perhaps the two ideas, beliefs can meet in the middle with such a solution.  (Jan 25, 2011 | post #10)

But I must say in a corny way, boy did she go through a lot of s today, she is submerged in s, she had a s-y day....I am so not witty but looking forward to someone witty telling a good ending/saying to this story because it has many possibilities....come on people, brighten our day  (Jan 25, 2011 | post #4)

New Woodland gym hopes to build youth connections

Whatever their motivation, unbiased community involvement, a true belief in saving souls and community involvement, whatever, they are doing a good deed, if a parent is so afraid their child can not be trusted to make their own judgements about God, Jesus, Jehova, Budha, then keep your kid home or send them to another gym. Calm down people. Trust that you teach your kids your values and trust them to form their own in spite or with yours. If you don't believe, is it such an awful thing for your kids to believe? As far as I am concerned, it is far better to have organizations reaching out for the good of society unless it is man boy love etc.  (Jan 25, 2011 | post #25)

Woodland man arrested for committing lewd, lascivious act...

I agree we should all believe in due process and it is a heavy accusation. Note, kids do make up things for the darndest reasons, but just because their stories change, does not mean they are not telling the truth. It is a fine balance and you can't hold kids to the same accountability with truth as an adult because they can become confused. A lot of people get off when guilty because of this, but I do believe their are many innocents accused as well. That is why we should all support the process of checks and balances. An innocent observation from a child can be taken totally out of context. I would guess a lot more of those b------- get away with stuff than get caught but if it was you, you would want your fellow citizens to go in with a totally open mind.  (Jan 25, 2011 | post #25)

Woodland's mobile food vendors could be told to keep moving

I hate to see them forced to move, if you have a favorite, how are you going to find them? I am for ensuring they clean up their area, I am for ensuring they are filing taxes etc. Perhaps the city can create policy based on their concerns with these types of businesses, and not just lump them in a bracket that already exists. For instance, they are at the old Tafoya's market, that lot is an empty eyesore anyways, why not let someone make some money....perhaps their can be spot checks to see how much they are taking in cash and ensuring that the proper accounting is taking place. (I know there is no ensuring, but based on receipts, if audited daily for a set given time, you should be able to get an idea of what they are really bringing in).  (Jan 25, 2011 | post #3)

You deduced that I made an assumption based on reading this thread. My assumption was based on reading many many threads over the course of months on many many topics. Unlike you, there are a few of us that dare to post under the same registered name and it makes it easier to follow ones opinion and/or credibility.  (Jan 25, 2011 | post #35)

Few leads in search for boy taken from grandmother

So true, but the last sentence, you don't know, mental illness can happen later in life and she already left him, he fell apart after that according to the news accounts. People don't necessarily know people, don't blame her from an arms length, we all make mistakes but nobody (in right mind) makes a baby knowing that after I leave him, he will hear voices, after I leave him he will drown my baby........harsh. .......not everyone has a good mate, it can be trial, life's lessons and error, does that make you deserving of having your baby killed>  (Jan 24, 2011 | post #2)

I am surprised you would attack me on this one. I follow TOI's posts and find him to be fair and honest in his opinions. I have no reason to believe otherwise. Sorry if that makes you feel uncomfortable.....  (Jan 24, 2011 | post #32)

Woodland man arrested for committing lewd, lascivious act...

I think the poster made a valid point, the key point here was he/she was arrested based on suspicion and had to go to jail for 3 days before charges were dismissed. Poster said he was hit and did not hit back. Once an arrest is made, it does not always indicate guilt and to have a label placed on you for something this horrific can be life changing. I think we would all like to believe that an arrest would never be made unless they felt quite certain, but the poster's point should be duly noted based on their own personal experience.  (Jan 24, 2011 | post #19)
