to Fred... I hear one of the landlords in Wayland is asking over $800 a month rent for the store fronts! In Wayland! I don't see how people can open a store in Wayland with rent like that for the space. Its rediculous. You don't attract more business when you can't afford the rent for the space. That is the same problem in most of these small towns. The owners seem to think that it is ok to gouge the small business owner. These aren't apartments and shouldn't be rented out with apartment prices.  (Jun 23, 2007 | post #12)

Thank you Fred. I think I would feel better if some of the old empty store fronts had business going into them instead of seeing new buildings go up and the old ones sit empty. Its trashy and makes Dansville look like a community that doesn't care.  (Jun 22, 2007 | post #9)

Again, when I see someone out there with some tools and building supplies, then I will be convinced. Till then, nice job clearing a field!  (Jun 16, 2007 | post #10)

why does Walmart seem to think they need two super centers within 15 minutes of each other? Or should I say EVERY 15 MINUTES? I am not a fan of the supercenter. Ames was a nice little store that employed lots of people and didn't seem to sprout up at every turn. I still have no reason what so ever to believe that this will happen in Dansville, regardless of some mananger from another Walmart getting on and telling me specifically. So your a manager at a walmart, does that really mean I am supposed to blanketly believe you?! Cuz I don't, I still see Dansville as a town that doesn't want new business. That lot still just looks like someone put a lot of money into clearing a field that is still just weeds. I guess when someone goes out there with their little hammer and some building materials, then I will believe dansville didn't just waste a ton of money to clear an empty field!  (Jun 16, 2007 | post #7)

New Save-A-Lot

After seeing the new fire hall in macedon, I am stunned that they felt they needed such an elaborate building to store a few trucks!! No wonder the fire dept didn't want the group of elderlies in their! They might have seen just how frivolously their tax money was spent! Frankly that is a gross display of abuse of tax dollars!  (Jun 15, 2007 | post #76)

There are two walmarts within 15 minutes of Dansville! Get out of Dansville and explore your local area! Is it really too much to ask that your job may be more than 5 minutes from your house? Show some initiative! And if you think a Walmart is going to keep our youth in the area, guess again. Lets not forget that Walmart drug tests and I would love to see just how much of Dansville, either kid or adult, would pass a drug test. (This would be why they don't go to seek out employment at the two Walmarts that are within 15 minutes of thier house, hmmm, kinda makes you think doesn't it!) At least the Home Depot made sense. There are no real home improvement stores for quite a drive. It would have been nice to be able to get lumber and other supplies without paying the high prices of the local lumber yards. Not to mention the selections for other appliances and lighting....tools, who couldn't use more tools?! And that would also bring jobs to the area. But in the end, I have said it before and I will say it again...DANSVILLE DOENS'T WANT NEW BUSINESS!! They have systematically taken every business out of there that was available for large groups of people and they have fought bringing most every other business to town. The economic flow has gone elsewhere and the town board doesn't seem to see this as a problem. Well they have their balloon festival.  (Jun 15, 2007 | post #5)

Wayland man arrested on stolen vehicle charges

Tourist, Dumbass and his niece seem to have gotten the message. I'm glad to see they stopped putting their stupidity on the front porch for the world to see. Tony needs jail time and his niece needs a lesson before she's old enough to drink, drive and steal people stuff. I'm guessing already drinking and stealing...seems to run in the family.  (Jun 15, 2007 | post #6)

Wind farm causing stir in Cohocton

Cohocton is not a tourist town in anyones book. And windmills aren't likely to change that. And frankly the town is not a place I would hang out. Its a nice place to drive through quickly....Even the festival is getting warn out. Its like a local fair, sure its a lot of fun...the first time or two that you go. After that, whats the point, same faces, same games, same stuff for sell. It gets mundain. And that one or two houses that have been taken care of are not enough to say that the town is cute or well cared for. Its like no one in the town has enough pride in themselves or their property to bother to mow a lawn or put a coat of paint on a building.  (Jun 14, 2007 | post #15)

Home Depot Dansville NY

Dan, Down the road? At this point I have heard nothing about down the road...all that has been reported is that the deal is not going to happen. Walmart has too many stores in the area to warrent another super center in Dansville. And Home Depot has pulled out. Regardless of what managers in Batavia or Geneseo say about it. Dansville went from a cute little, self sufficient town, to a place you can't find a job or do your basic shopping. You have to travel to other towns to get most anything! I am disappointed in Dansville.  (Jun 14, 2007 | post #7)

Federal Quarantine for TB Traveler

Stupid people suck!! What is the matter with this idiot? I personally would like to see him prosecuted. What makes him any different than a terrorist? He knew he was putting others at risk and tb is nothing to play around with.  (Jun 14, 2007 | post #11)
