Burglary suspect breaks ankles in leap from downtown Chic...

I thought it was to Do Gooder Liberals that have made prison the non-punishment place it is today. Remember Jerry Brown part 1 and the prisoners bills of rights. They should be making big rocks into little rocks. Prison should be a place feared by criminals not a vacation for them.  (Mar 1, 2011 | post #35)

PV boys stave off game LP

The Enterprise cannot afford to send a reporter to Lassen, that is why no coverage of CHS. Redding.com has better high school coverage most of the time. Why is LP even in the same league as Chico and PV? They were a doormat in their old league and it is worse now with the bigger schools.  (Feb 4, 2011 | post #5)

Officials seek to end confusion about closed bridge north...

OK quit voting for the anti-business, tax dollar wasting politicians that have taken a good idea of environmental protection and blown it into a multi-billion dollar job killing, time and money wasting, over kill empire. We have a bloated bureaucracy of government staff that thinks their job is to delay or kill every project that comes down the pike. When it takes 10 months to review 5 days worth of emergency work to keep a bridge from falling down or it takes 2.5 years for Water Resources to get a permit from the Forest Service for a stream gauge to help the environment, or when a landmark forest management agreement that is hammered out with agreement of all the government, industry and environmental groups can then be thrown out by a lawsuit from a different branch of the Sierra Club, the system is broke.  (Feb 4, 2011 | post #11)

Officials seek to end confusion about closed bridge north...

Keep voting Democrat so we can waste more tax dollars doing months of Environmental review for 5 days worth of work.  (Feb 3, 2011 | post #8)

City reaches agreement with police union

So I guess all those people lined up at Starbucks every day are the rich. If the poor in this country can afford $4 for coffee every day then I do not think it is as bad as you say.  (Feb 1, 2011 | post #43)

Butte County has plan to become more attractive to busine...

Can the county really do anything to help? The City of Chico told Walmart they would have to buy wood stoves for everyone and the State keeps raising taxes and passed the laws that make our PG&E bills go up. Many local companies are downsizing or eliminating their Chico facilities and moving to other states. I doubt the county can do much about that so spending $300k probably is not going to be a good return on the money.  (Jan 31, 2011 | post #2)

City reaches agreement with police union

California cities have far fewer police than most other states. But we have higher welfare benefits and really nice art work so we don't need cops, right. Chico does have more firefighters than many cities our size.  (Jan 29, 2011 | post #24)

Pleasant Valley High School takes day to honor famed grad...

Chico High does use Chico State but the College no longer maintains it as a football field since they do not have football team. The scoreboard no longer works correctly and some homeless guy burned down the press box and home restrooms years ago and they have not been replaced.  (Jan 25, 2011 | post #22)

Pleasant Valley High School takes day to honor famed grad...

I know, pretty much every school does. That is why Butte College had their preseason deal out in Orland instead of in Chico. The worst stadium around is PV and the second worst is Chico. Go to Redding or Red Bluff and see what nice football and basketball and baseball and soccer facilities they have.  (Jan 25, 2011 | post #18)

Pleasant Valley High School takes day to honor famed grad...

Maybe he will donate some money to build PV a new football stadium, so they will not have the most embarrassing field in California.  (Jan 24, 2011 | post #14)

City of Chico's Park Avenue redevelopment gains ground

"A private business would not have the capacity to do what the city is doing," Schwab said. Why not? Because it does not make sense to spend a bunch of money on worthless, contaminated property? If it made sense private businesses would be lined up to tear down the old buildings and build something good. And it is not a gateway to the community. That is the plow art that is falling apart on Park Avenue by the Midway.  (Jan 20, 2011 | post #15)

Medi-Cal co-pays would hurt Enloe

I agree that a co-payment for Medi-Cal is a good idea, but $50 seems a bit steep. I think $20 would slow down the number of folks showing up at the ER with the sniffles.  (Jan 13, 2011 | post #20)

CSUC parking structure plan to clear next hurdle

Mr. Stemen go back under your rock and dream about utopia. A parking structure is part of the total solution. Chico State has been known to have horrible parking for at least 30 years and no amount of expensive, feel good, do nothing solutions have helped.  (Jan 7, 2011 | post #1)

Chico had fewest speed-related injury accidents, traffic ...

The Police Sgt. answered the question. If the Police do not respond to the crash and take a report then it does not go into the statistics. Chico PD was not reporting most of the crashes so it appears to the bean counters in Sacramento that we do not have any.  (Jan 7, 2011 | post #9)
