Today's election day in 7th District

Ugh What else is there to say?  (Mar 11, 2008 | post #514)

Today's election day in 7th District

Ummm read again....no where did I say I am a Democrat or a Republican. I said I have generally voted democratic. However, look at the way things have gone...that's the lovely thing about having the right to vote and change your vote based on what you see as wrong. Serving on city council for a short time is not enough political experience. His winning is based on riding on the tail of his grandmother...another individual I could barely tolerate. By the way, you don't know me, my race, my religion, my beliefs...funny for you to think my vote is based on race. Wouldn't you look stupid right now if we were having this discussion face to face  (Mar 11, 2008 | post #283)

Too bad this election will be based on race and not on experience or ability. Generally speaking I have voted democrat but I did vote for Ballard and I never could tolerate Carson. As much as I have faith in our election process, sadly today will be a day I go to vote truly feeling like it is a waste. I cannot believe more people didn't step up to support Elrod financially during this election. If the Republican party is holding out for the general election to win over this seat, I think that is a risk to wait for that "right time". Good luck Elrod, hate to say it but I think you will need it. You have my vote though for whatever little bit that will be worth. I do hope I am wrong.  (Mar 11, 2008 | post #5)

Lockheed Martin engineers donate $2.2M to Purdue

I don't understand the issue of IU vs Purdue. Ok so Purdue puts out great engineers. IU puts out great doctors and nurses and I am betting when your family needs help, you aren't giving a crap at the time where their degree is from. Congrats to grads of any college. It is a great accomplishment.  (Feb 22, 2008 | post #21)

Ryan Newman surges to win 50th running of Daytona 500

What teammate are you talking about? Kurt Busch and Ryan Newman are teammates so Busch actually helped Newman pull this win which both acknowledged after the win  (Feb 17, 2008 | post #27)

Ryan Newman surges to win 50th running of Daytona 500

Ryan Newman has been my favorite driver for many years now. The last couple of years have been rough with car problems and crew issues. I could see the tide turning at the end of last season. Ryan did a great job today! Was awesome to see his parents and wife so emotional over a well deserved win. Through thick and thin and people laughing because I'm not a huge Stewart fan and can't stand Gordon. Very upstanding driver with upstanding owner as well. Way to go guys!  (Feb 17, 2008 | post #23)

Carson: I have terminal lung cancer

Like many have posted on this board, I have never much agreed with Julia and felt she wasn't a good representation for Indianapolis in interviews in public speakings. I feel that she need to step down now and take the time she has left to enjoy her family and friends. I had a feeling this was coming with the recent news that Andy Jacobs would support her grandson if he took her place. That being said...I am sorry to hear that Julia is terminally ill. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. I lost a brother to terminal illness and it's a horrible thing for anyone to go through. I pray that she can enjoy her time with her family and not suffer in this difficult time.  (Nov 25, 2007 | post #116)

Retired surgeon wins $480,000 in lawsuit

I am wondering if you and I read the same article. First...the article states the suit was filed five years ago. Not eleven. I am guessing you are assuming he tried to get them to settle in the six years prior to that but the story doesn't state if that is the case. Second...how do you know he didn't try to get the practice/former partners to settle with him and they refused to settle. Maybe they wanted to take it to court. Honestly, the way insurance companies "reimburse " doctors anymore and the way hospitals and practices are more worried about business and the bottom dollar vs. patient care, I don't blame him for no longer wanting to practice medicine after he left eleven years ago  (Aug 30, 2007 | post #5)

Mom, baby found dead in home; girl, 3, alive

My heart goes out to the family and friends of this young woman. Having been born with asthma and diagnosed at 6 weeks old and going to school right now for respiratory therapy, I often fine that people think that asthma is a joke of a disease and kids are often thought they are faking when they are in school, at work, etc. People need to realize this is a serious disease and you can die. Susan, please look into what causes asthma so that you are better informed than believing that pollution is the only cause for asthma. I agree with another poster on here, people need to check on family and friends. I may not always talk to my mom every single day but we do talk at least every other day. No way would she go nearly 10 days without hearing from me without worrying. I am not trying to knock the family here, just saying that we all need to keep in contact much better than many people do. Again, my sympathy goes out to the family and friends.  (Aug 20, 2007 | post #15)

Honda puts 'green' in Greensburg

Oh by the way...let's not forget how the government is treating all the physically and mentally injured soldiers now returning home. I think you should be shaking your head at what is happening now because that can be changed. The past cannot as unfortunate as it may be. Having had family that died in WW2, the Korean War, Vietnam, and my cousins as well in my father currently or previously serving this country...I have complete respect for the military. When my dad retired from the military after 25 years I think it was sad that he was left on his own without much help to find a civilian job. Maybe jobs like this will at least gives some of those men and women an opportunity  (Aug 19, 2007 | post #21)

No, shame on this country for helping all the other countries in this world while citizens in our own country live on the streets, can't afford health insurance, and lose jobs to foreign countries because the tax breaks are better. At least now we are getting jobs in our country which benefit our citizens and avoid unemployment  (Aug 19, 2007 | post #20)

Absent kids put schools in jeopardy

You aren't planning on going to college are you? I ask this because most college classes are based on tests only with very little (if any) other work. I took ISTEP at North Central the first year it came out. I passed both sections then, no problems. Regarding your comments that the test needs to be moved: Again, when you go to college, you don't get a "refresher " class. You are expected to pick-up where you left off in May when you graduated. They don't want excuses or whining. It is simply the way it is. The professors have one semester to teach you a class that you need to know so that you can move onto the next level. It is called RETENTION...not memorization. You are expected to retain what you learned over the years in school so that the professor has a foundation to teach you on. Good luck with you're future. By the way, I am not a great test taker either. However, I just aced a 6 credit class for college (yes one class) and I had to study my butt off to do it. Sure, I have to work harder and spend more time on it than a lot of my other peers but the point is that it can be done. It is up to you to succeed. As the saying goes...it's what you make of it  (Aug 4, 2007 | post #155)

Let it Out

Haven't been to that one but I don't have much of a social life lately. All I do is work, sleep, study...repeat. Anyway, it has been a year or two since i was at One-Liners but I liked it. I suggested it only because it has multiple things you can do there without having to go from one place to the next  (Aug 3, 2007 | post #266)
