Mr. Malanchuk & Mr. Quarterman
You know Douglass wasn't even from Georgia, right? In fact I doubt he ever visited it. He was from the Northeast, born there, lived there, and died there. And you said "Frederick Family", but wouldn't it be the "Douglass Family" if it were his descendants? Just because some carpet baggers from the north tossed around the idea of naming the county after Douglass (which as far as I know is pretty much just a legend) doesn't mean that it is. It was never made official, never changed after the fact, it was named originally and still is for Steven Douglas, not Frederick Douglass. Get it straight already for christ sake. It's highly unlikely that either of the two ever stepped foot in Douglas County as they were both from the north and both have no history or relevance to Georgia or Douglas County. And while I'm at it, if you want people to take you seriously (which it's pretty much already too late for anyone that has lived in Douglas County for more than a few years), then you need to start letting someone proof read anything you release that's written. Your grammar and spelling are atrocious. (May 19, 2008 | post #27)
First showings are at noon, last are around 10:30. So they "close" around 12:30 when the last people leave, but I bet the staff doesnt get out til after 1am. Mall stores close at 10 I think. (May 19, 2008 | post #4)
Ive heard the same thing. A friend talked to someone at the property management company who said they were planning it. Though I won't put much stock in it til I see some concrete being poured. (May 16, 2008 | post #8)
You are correct. If you have ANY cable or dish service you dont have to do anything. (Apr 30, 2008 | post #13)
More channels can be broacast in a smaller spectrum using a digital signal. Using up all those airwaves on outdated analog signals that probably less than 10% of TV viewers use is kinda ridiculous. There are a lot of other viable options for them that would benefit more people, most notably wireless highspeed internet for mobile devices. The FCC already auctioned off the airwaves a few months ago for something like $20 billion. ATT and Verizon have the two largest blocks I think. Expect to see ridiculously fast mobile internet devices around 2010 and more competition for traditional carriers like cable/dsl, which will hopefully psuh them to improve speeds/reliablity/ pricing. Ive never heard or read that anywhere in regards to douglas county history. There's also no citation for that on wiki. I must admit I'm curious now. I might have to make a trip to the library. (Apr 28, 2008 | post #23)

Assume that's a joke. Awesome. "I will build: · A shoreline around the Dog River Reservoir which will create a waterfront park presence with trails and cultural events" One of the worst ideas Ive ever heard a politician propose. Not only not within his authority, but not even legal, needed, or desired. You can't construct whatever you want on the hootch, least of all something like a waterpark and "shoreline ". Which would wreck the ecology of a river. This man truly is an idiot. (Apr 28, 2008 | post #17)

Wow... he actualy thinks that? Shouldn't the difference in spelling be a clue that he's wrong? What a buffoon. (Apr 25, 2008 | post #14)

Not every church has a problem with people drinking alcohol, and the ones that do are misguided and ignorant in my opinion. They're more akin to cults than christianity as far as I'm concerned. And what do you mean by "type of character"? Consuming alcohol is considered bad character in your opinion? What are you, an 18th century Quaker? Don't get me wrong, I don't care to see this guy elected to ANY position, but using the fact that he drinks alcohol (something the majority of the worlds adult population does and has done for thousands of years, including Christ and Christians) as a reason is about the stupidest thing I've ever heard of. Fire Damages Douglasville Apartments
You're never "required " to have renters insurance in an apartment. And I've never heard of a property that provides you with insurance or has someone contact you. At best they have some brochures in the office or contact info for local agents. It's up to you square away your own coverage, if you want it. Even if someone is at fault, their insurance doesn't cover your loss and they are not liable. Your lease agreement will probably state something along those lines as well. You might get something out of small claims, but I doubt it. Sorry for your loss, but it's common sense to get your own insurance. (Apr 24, 2008 | post #18)
Do you live across the street from me? If so, sorry I've been too busy to mow. :-) (Apr 24, 2008 | post #13)

Doesn't he run for a commissioner spot every couple years and lose? What makes him qualified to be chairman if he can't even get him self elected to a commissioner position... (Apr 23, 2008 | post #4)
How would it be a "big blow" to the mall? If Dillards is closing the location then it isn't performing well, so no one is shopping there apparently, so therefore it won't be a big blow to the mall. Retailers open and close locations all the time. It's more a sign of Dillards poor business model than of a the economy as a whole. Sears is having the same problem and they'll probably go belly up in the next year or two. Some other chain will lease the space, remodel, and make plans to open next year. By then the economic slump will be over and it won't matter. And knock it off with the propaganda bullshit. Every time something stupid like a store closes you don't have to link it to the war and bush. It's annoying and no one wants to waste their time reading it because we've all heard the same song and dance a million times before so shut up. (Apr 17, 2008 | post #4)
