I would want this person as a neighbor, there are far too many cases of neighbors turning their back to break-ins and worse out of fear of getting involved. If you do just a little research you'll find that the cop asked alot of questions and tried to defuse the situation before arresting Gates. Gates wouldn't let it go and followed the cop out of the house creating a scene and disturbing the peace. He's actually lucky that the cops didn't charge him with resisting arrest.  (Jul 24, 2009 | post #1120)

Common night walkers, common street walkers, both male and female, common railers and brawlers, persons who with offensive and disorderly acts or language accost or annoy persons of the opposite sex, lewd, wanton and lascivious persons in speech or behavior, idle and disorderly persons, disturbers of the peace, keepers of noisy and disorderly houses, and persons guilty of indecent exposure may be punished by imprisonment in a jail or house of correction for not more than six months, or by a fine of not more than two hundred dollars, or by both such fine and imprisonment. A charge of disorderly conduct is kind of a "catch-all " which basically means your being an a$$hole and disturbing other people unreasonably. Nothing in the quoted text is racist or obscene, although I have been called both at one point or another and to varying degrees of accuracy. I am white, exremely right-wing and offended that you consider me to be "much less awful than many of the real white racists". I don't take away from any man due to his race but I feel that some so-called men take away from their race with their actions. Farrakan, Sharpton and their kind are just as racist as David Duke. I didn't vote for the guy, I really think that he's already cost this nation too much, but this is what Obama actually said. "I have said in the past _ and I'll repeat again _ that the best reparations we can provide are good schools in the inner city and jobs for people who are unemployed," He also said that he opposed just giving out checks to african-americans because it wouldn't solve the underlying issues.  (Jul 23, 2009 | post #176)
