Grand jury indicts 13 alleged members of San Jose street gang -...
It must be nice to actually have a proactive police force. This is something we in Santa Cruz County wouldn't recognize because the community activists, city council, and Board of Supervisors hold hands together and sing Kumbaya while trying to figure out ways to keep the PD from doing their job effectively. I have much admiration for the law enforcement that choose to stay and work in this as_s backwards county... (Yesterday | post #13)
County takes aim at Cheap Hauling's pickups - Santa Cruz Sentinel
Bingo... I have to look at that POS every day I drive my kids to school. It's been there a lot longer than 3 days. It's been a week now. I do like the idea of destroying all his cars. Let the gang bangers and vandals tag up his trucks, flatten his tires, and **** in his gas tanks... We'll watch him give up the business very quickly. (Wednesday May 14 | post #26)
Police seize $1 million worth of pot plants from San Jose home ...
Who said anything about being taken seriously? Most people posting on these forums are as-swipes whose views I completely disagree with. So why not have a little fun pissing them off (Becky Johnson, Chicana and all the others...) And for what it's worth, the only grow houses I've known are from illegal wetbacks and Vietnamese. Now what... (Tuesday May 13 | post #30)

Expect cyclists on Mission this evening - Santa Cruz Sentinel
I myself am an avid cyclist. I own three bikes and ride them alot. I was dismayed at last Friday's fiasco and am hopeful of a few things #1. Last weeks incident was not a reflection of the cyclists in Santa Cruz, but more so, an out of area student(s) at UCSC, being a typical UCSC student, trying to bring attention to something they know nothing about, nor really care about, but it's "cool" to protest. #2. Tonights organized ride is thought out, planned well, and goes without a hitch. However, I do not see a 100 cyclists riding on Mission St. during rush hour being without problems. I am hopeful they ride single file, and do not feel the need to make more of a scene by blocking traffic, and bringing more undue negative attention to us. #3. I would like to see more of these events have some cycling activists speaking out about responsible riding, including members of MBOSC, SCCC, and the UCSC riding team. That would help. Southwest passenger cited for cell phone chatter
I could just see this pompous a-s-shole on the phone, chatting it up (even more disturbing is the texas drawl he probably has) while a bunch of people around him were rolling their eyes, getting fidgety and wanting to bit-ch slap the phone right off his ear. The whole time, this moron is probably talking about stuff we can care less about, 5 octaves above normal to compensate for the in flight noise. (Monday May 12 | post #7)
Police seize $1 million worth of pot plants from San Jose home ...
I'm not sure I understand your point. Are you talking about federal sentencing? If so, when was the last time someone was arrested federally for smoking crack, meth, etc...? It doesn't happen. Secondly, I'm not sure what approach I suggested. I was specifically explaining to another poster why police may not be arresting someone for smoking crack between cars. My approach? One strike and your'e out. If you are arrested for using or being in possession of a narcotic (i.e. meth, heroin, cocaine, etc) and it was under a specified weight (possession and not possession for sales), you would be arrested, sentenced, and then released. Your sentence would be a 3 month suspended sentence. You get one shot at rehab, with a court date at the end of the program. If you blow that one shot, you get those 3 mo's in the pokie. If you complete the program, the 3 mo's disappears. The current system (Prop 36) is a complete and utter failure, giving the Judges too much power and control to "force" people into rehab that don't want to be there or aren't ready to get their sh_it together and it's costing us a lot of money. Police seize $1 million worth of pot plants from San Jose home ...
When 500 plants are being pulled out of a rental house in San Jose, that is a problem. Most of these grow houses in San Jose are rented houses. Most of the grow houses are rented by either Vietnamese or illegal Mexicans. They don't live in these houses, they don't care about the houses. In fact, they destroy the house, leaving inches of dirt and compost in the ground, drilling holes into water lines, knocking holes in the walls for ventilation, tap into PG&E lines, etc... The owner of the house is then stuck w/ a bill they cannot pay ($100,000 is a kind estimate), not to mention the fines, etc... Now if you're going to grow pot in the backyard for your personal use, than go for it. I'm not one to judge, however, when people are destroying investment homes to grow weed for the purpose of selling it to make a profit, I do have a problem with that. I have even more of a problem with that when they are here illegally. Mark my words, with the housing situation as dire as it is, grow houses and labs are going to be popping up all over the central valley. Why aren't tweakers being busted? Because you voted for Prop. 36. which in essance took the crime out of narcotic use. So a homeless person is seen smoking crack. A cop cites them. They go to court. The judge gives them Prop 36. They then have to go to mandated treatement. They cannot be arrested, they cannot go to jail. They are allowed to fail 3 times before they spend a day in jail! Why would a cop waste his time citing someone, knowing they are not going to go to jail, are not going to learn their lesson, and are going to be out smoking crack, living in their van, and doing the same thing the very next day? Thank god he's disappeared. Last time I saw him I was walking under the scaffolding near the Cinema 9. He was walking towards us. When he walked by us he smelled like he just crap-ed his pants. (Sunday May 11 | post #60)
Vandals hit candidate's business - Santa Cruz Sentinel
Who cares, and how is this news? Are we supposed to be shocked? How is this any different than other gang and hate filled graffiti we have to endure all over town. So some white supremacists are in the neighborhood? Just add them to all the norteno and sureno's that feel it's their duty to spray paint all over our street signs. (Sunday May 11 | post #28)
Salinas shooting leaves one boy dead, two others injured - Sant...
I can't say I disagree with you! Seems like the only news that comes out of Salinas is crime, murder, and other gang related shootings. Maybe ICE should start to focus on Salinas for their round ups. (Sunday May 11 | post #2)
