Mandatory spay, neuter law back in Sacramento - Santa Cruz Sent...

That's very interesting. Can you provide the source of those statistics?  (Friday Jun 27 | post #6)

Santa Cruz County to reduce budget by $19 million - Santa Cruz ...

Weird cuts. "Nobody" likes the planning department, or so I hear. But "nobody" thinks we need less health services. So the article focuses on health services cuts.  (Thursday Jun 26 | post #7)

BevMo controversy to be heard in Capitola tonight - Santa Cruz ...

If BevMo isn't allowed then does the building stay empty? And the owner go broke without rent checks? What about the rights of BevMo and the landlord? Is private property a dead issue in Capitola? Why are "we" even discussing refusing BevMo? We now have 2,500 opinions in a petition and a hundred more on this forum. None of you should have a vote in a free county.  (Thursday Jun 26 | post #63)

And in a few months we will hear about the tax increases we need to take care of the roads.  (May 25, 2008 | post #17)

You need to become a non-profit. Or maybe "on a fixed income". Or have a friend in high places.  (May 25, 2008 | post #16)

And those the incumbents recommend. And those obviously up to their eyeballs in other quasi-government businesses. To be specific that would be Danner and Leopold.  (May 25, 2008 | post #15)

Santa Cruz cracks down on illegal rentals - Santa Cruz Sentinel

I'm in a quandry about the issue. I assume that the granny units aren't great housing. But they are affordable (cheap) housing. When built they were acceptable residences. They got a permit right? So as long as a "1 resident unit" doesn't have 12 occupants they are OK. Distroying the unit and evicting the resident sounds extreme. If a private party tried to do that to a regular rental unit he would be tied up in court for years. But now the city wants to do the same thing and it's not only OK it's also and "billing opportunity" for the county. They can do what a citizen can't do and get to fine someone in the process. But the owner/builder did sign an agreement that he would live on the property. That was probably the first mistake, giving up your property rights.  (May 22, 2008 | post #31)

As We See It: Danner for supervisor - Santa Cruz Sentinel

So the choice presented is which "connected " candidate I should vote for? I know it was hard for the Sentinel to pick between "friends ". Let's dump all these "semi-incumbe nts" and vote for Busenhart.  (May 21, 2008 | post #12)

Car collides with bicyclist on in Rose Garden in San Jose - San...

Please please stop printing this nonsense. "Cars" do not collide with bicyclists. Cars don't do much without drivers. My car has yet to leave my driveway is search of a bicyclist to run over. It's either "car collides with bike" (those **** cars with a mind of their own!) or "Car driver collides with bicyclist".  (May 14, 2008 | post #1)

Park the car and jump on a bike this week - Santa Cruz Sentinel

We may not be talking about the same thing. The Chinese are not upgrading from a bike to a big Lincoln. If they are and that's why gas prices are going up I am envious.  (May 14, 2008 | post #29)

College hikes will have "terrible impact," students, professors...

Crazy isn't it. The schools spend tons of money of things that don't educate students - Administration, "basic research", better gear and buildings. And of course many well-paid Professors stopped interacting with students long ago. Good forbid they actually teach. They have completely forgotten why we have a public education system. Professors worry? Would that be real teachers? If I'm wrong let me know.  (May 14, 2008 | post #1)

Anti-chain store sentiment hits Capitola in form of petition - ...

Don't borrow trouble. They haven't opened and you're worrying what will happen if they close? Wong is not always Wight. But is 41st Ave liquor better at picking wines to stock?  (May 13, 2008 | post #43)
