I liked the one where she showed the Army guys how to do push-ups, and one gave her a set of dog tags, that was cute!  (May 13, 2009 | post #5813)

City water tank draining

I'm sorry but, knowing Mando, I had to laugh at the thought of him telling you to "mind your own business." Just can't see that happening. How do you know those employees were on overtime?  (May 12, 2009 | post #17)

Teen arrested in latest bomb threat

Why do we assume every misbehaving child is the fault of the parents? Sometimes, yes, but not always. I'm pretty darn strict, but my kids have gone through some rough times. When one daughter came home with pot, I called the police myself. You can teach and model all you want, but some kids just have to learn the hard way. Yes, you as a parent are responsible for your child, and that includes financially. That doesn't mean you are responsible for, or to blame for, their boneheaded decisions.  (May 9, 2009 | post #32)

Anyone with a scanner on?

I hear there's a crazy lady in that neighborhood with way too many kids and animals. Probably trying to take her in for evaluation, and she's barricaded in the playroom.  (May 9, 2009 | post #2)

Teen arrested in latest bomb threat

A kid who is calling in bomb threats is probably also a kid who will ditch school that extra day and sit there laughing a second time.  (May 9, 2009 | post #5)

The New Spokesmen

Saw a copy last night and realized I had already read most of it...how many of the 'articles' in there were really old e-mails jokes that have been circulating for years? The Walmart application one I've forwarded many times myself. One or two even had bylines...doesn't exactly inspire confidence in the accuracy of the rest of the paper.  (May 6, 2009 | post #14)

Oh, gee, I've NEVER done anything like...well...neve rmind. Still like my computer, hate the router I got and anything else made by Netgear. They want you to pay them to provide technical support for their own product??!! After two hours of fighting with it, I gave up and took it back. Qwest is replacing their old dinosaur tomorrow (I was only getting a new one in the first place because the old one doesn't have wireless capabilities). Should have gone that route first, but I wanted to take care of everything at once. Gee, that worked well!  (May 5, 2009 | post #5633)

Oh, don't tell me that, I got a Dell computer today, and have yet to get it out of the box. My old dinosaur was in for a tune-up just a couple months ago, and still needs frequent rebooting and lots of swear-words. I just went in to Staples and said, "This is what I hate about my computer, what can I buy that won't make me smash it?" I knew I liked the sales guy when he started out showing me the cheaper models, rather than trying to convince me I needed to spend big bucks. We'll see if I still like him once it's all plugged in:)  (May 4, 2009 | post #5596)

I can agree with both your points. People do get a little obsessed with their dog/cat/whatever, and think everyone in the free world should want to fawn over it as well. Forcing your pet (or your perfume or your cigarette smoke) on someone else, whether they are allergic or not, is annoying and rude. As I mentioned earlier, though, Lowe's and Home Depot are huge stores with wide open spaces. I am in there frequently, and can't think of too many places where you would be forced to stand in close proximity to anyone, with or without a pet. Maybe the sample kitchens, those are a bit crowded, and at Home Depot always seem to have a cart in the way. My point being, you aren't really forcing your pet on someone else there, are you? We allow service animals in the Library, but not pets (any furry pets in the children's room stay in their cage, although I'll get the hissing cockroaches out for you to see if you want). It's a smaller space, very poor air circulation, and carpeted. The thing is, once one service dog has been through, anyone who is highly allergic is going to have a problem, aren't they? So, even if you have rules against pets, you aren't going to be able to accommodate people with severe allergies.  (May 4, 2009 | post #5595)

Huh? Not sure where the Midol comment came from, but she's right - there are no regulations, and many people enjoy seeing/having them there. It's a huge store, big open spaces, plenty of room to avoid a dog if you see it. Haven't spent much time in Europe, have you?  (May 3, 2009 | post #5573)

Swine flu stays out of state

Other than the blood test to confirm it, I haven't heard how this is different from other flus, or how you would treat it differently. I've had the flu since Thursday, and am just now starting to feel normal (whatever that means). It stinks, but really what would you do other than the usual rest and fluids?  (May 3, 2009 | post #26)
