People leaving Rome because of Rome Topix?

An internet message board does not really represent an entire community, but I certainly understand your points. Educated people leave and continue to leave due mostly to limited job availability. I have stated in the past that reading this particular forum has really shown me a subculture in Rome that I never knew existed. Like bullying by kids, the bullying and gossiping by this subculture has taken on a new level and many of us have become an unwilling audience. As for leaving my hometown, I wanted to in the past, but have resisted and now my boyfriend and I have some commitments here we would need to see through. Also, I would be leaving a job that pays me better than if I lived elsewhere because of my time invested in it. Still, I would be insincere if I said I didn't check job listings elsewhere. Regarding the Rome you speak of in the past. Be aware that most of us look back through a filter and romanticize and idealize our childhood where we were free of responsibility and had some protection from reality. I am leaving this forum. The few of you I have communicated with who now "know" me and have my email will always be in contact and maybe we can have coffee or a drink sometime. Peace, M.  (Mar 6, 2011 | post #2)

I'll give it a shot too...I'm the only registered user to comment on it.  (Mar 5, 2011 | post #22)

Sure, as long as you aren't a female who pisses him off. Then he'll choke you and threaten to kill you. As a domestic violence survivor, he makes me want to puke. http://www.nytimes .com/2011/03/04/op inion/04holmes.htm l?_r=1&ref=opi nion&pagewante d=all  (Mar 5, 2011 | post #17)

What changes would you like to see in Rome?

America doesn't make much anymore. It isn't the know-how, it's the expense. South America, China, an India have little kids sitting and sewing machines and on assembly lines for mere pennies in pay. City level changes are probably not as significant as county and state level ones. Speaking of metered water, does anyone know how schools, churches, or the subsidized housing would be billed?  (Mar 5, 2011 | post #4)

Never had that or any other problem, so I wouldn't know. I was referring to hygiene products that prevent problems, dear.  (Mar 4, 2011 | post #45)

Do you mean, "douche" ? Something we women use in our vaginas, is that what you are saying Tony D is? Are you using sexual innuendo? :D  (Mar 4, 2011 | post #42)

ADHD - an excuse for bad parenting!

You're right...lots of bad parenting, or NO parenting. I see the brats as well. Remember when kids were called, "incorrigible "? The jails are filled with those kids. My honest to goodness belief is that SOME of them could have been straightened out with a little more effort and something to help them organize their thoughts. Why is it okay to take medication when you have a pancreas that doesn't work, or a gall bladder that isn't right, or your digestive tract, but not if the chemicals in your brain are out of sync? Kids who were dyslexic were labeled "slow", or worse when we now know there brains don't interpret what their eyes see in sync. ADD kids and some adults are helped by a stimulant drug. Even caffeine which was given to my eldest nephew shortly after he started school, because my brother didn't believe in drugs. My two ADD nephews were lucky to have parents committed to giving them the opportunities to grow in their own ways. One is graduating from college this year and the other is a hardworking dad himself. Both are talented musicians. It was a long road especially for the younger one, but he has been off Ritalin for two years. I swear without it we would have had to beat the crap out of him every day. Without CONSTANT input for their learning they could have gone down another path. Their siblings were/are "normal" , and there is little difference now.  (Mar 4, 2011 | post #45)

Yes, that would be the only way of knowing. And, no, he wants me on it...and I am really a rather nice person.  (Mar 3, 2011 | post #80)

As I have said in the past, people f*ck up and they also mature. Chris has been a hard-working husband and dad for 14 years. Does that undo anything? Of course not, but if you think he has not had to live with this and try to act accordingly, you would be wrong. How long should he be labeled?  (Mar 3, 2011 | post #2)

Charlie Sheen

All anyone needs to know is that he's a member of the, "Lucky Sperm Club", (that means he has a rich daddy) and has pretty much had anything he wanted his entire life, so never matured. That isn't a problem, hell, I ENVY that. The problems come into play that he got married twice and had kids. Do what you want, but leave being hubby/daddy to the guys who want to follow that script. He also caused people to lose their jobs..okay, they didn't have to completely shut down that show, but shit happens and he'll always be blamed for his bigoted remarks. I love a celebrity in a death spiral. Entertaining.  (Mar 3, 2011 | post #12)
